You cannot allow two masters to rule your life. Either you will disregard one and love the other; or else cling to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and remain enslaved to the gods of this world.

Lord God, Abba Father, how often Your Words make me feel as if I am not meant to understand having knowledge and wisdom as to Your truths. For I am meant to walk by faith knowing that that which is unseen is more real than that which is seen. And the only wisdom I need is that sufficient to trust in You for all things. Mine is but to stay close to You in and through Jesus in His Spirit which is alive in me. O that You would keep me humble, for it is there that I remain thankful. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Genesis 11:1-9

6  And the LORD said, "Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language; and this is only the beginning of what they will do; and nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them.  7  Come, let us go down, and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech."  8  So the LORD scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they left off building the city.  9  Therefore its name was called Ba’bel, because there the LORD confused the language of all the earth; and from there the LORD scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.

10  The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nought; he frustrates the plans of the peoples.  11  The counsel of the LORD stands for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

34  And he called to him the multitude with his disciples, and said to them, "If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.  35  For whoever would save his life will lose it; and whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it.  36  For what does it profit a man, to gain the whole world and forfeit his life?  37  For what can a man give in return for his life?  38  For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of man also be ashamed, when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels."  1 And he said to them, "Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see that the kingdom of God has come with power."
