My Daily Prayers and Readings for 07/03/2010
< >< My Prayer >< >
Abba Father in the name of Christ Jesus who lives within me through the Holy Spirit I pray that You create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me, for my one walk in and with Jesus today. Asking that You bless me and mine in fulfillment of Your will and keep us from evil and pain.
Once again today’s devotion and readings address what has been on my mind these past days; judging and belief in the ‘unseen’. As I have said whether our judging is rooted in pride or hidden in helping others, we must remain humble and close to You in Christ Jesus through the Spirit for guidance and conviction. For close to You we are humbled at the foot of the Cross, and close to You we are corrected when our helping or serving slips into criticizing and judging. Close to You, absorbing Your word I have come to believe more in the unseen; always knowing and feeling that You saved me through Christ Jesus, not because of any righteous things that I have done or could do, but because of His mercy. He saved me through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. So I come to You each morning asking You create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me, for my one walk in and with Jesus.
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

July – “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1
Today – MY CHILDREN make a pastime of judging one another—and themselves. But I am the only capable Judge, and I have acquitted you through My own blood. Your acquittal came at the price of My unparalleled sacrifice. That is why I am highly offended when I hear My children judge one another or indulge in self-hatred.
If you live close to Me and absorb My Word, the Holy Spirit will guide and correct you as needed. There is no condemnation for those who belong to Me.

Reading 1 Eph 2:19-22
Brothers and sisters:
You are no longer strangers and sojourners,
but you are fellow citizens with the holy ones
and members of the household of God,
built upon the foundation of the Apostles and prophets,
with Christ Jesus himself as the capstone.
Through him the whole structure is held together
and grows into a temple sacred in the Lord;
in him you also are being built together
into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
Responsorial Psalm Ps 117:1bc, 2
R. (Mark 16:15) Go out to all the world and tell the Good News.
Praise the LORD, all you nations;
glorify him, all you peoples!
R. Go out to all the world and tell the Good News.
For steadfast is his kindness for us,
and the fidelity of the LORD endures forever.
R. Go out to all the world and tell the Good News.
Gospel Jn 20:24-29
Thomas, called Didymus, one of the Twelve,
was not with them when Jesus came.
So the other disciples said to him, “We have seen the Lord.”
But Thomas said to them,
“Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands
and put my finger into the nailmarks
and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
Now a week later his disciples were again inside
and Thomas was with them.
Jesus came, although the doors were locked,
and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.”
Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands,
and bring your hand and put it into my side,
and do not be unbelieving, but believe.”
Thomas answered and said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
Jesus said to him, “Have you come to believe because you have seen me?
Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.”

The spouse of the Church cannot be defiled. Whosoever separates from the Church and is joined to an adulteress is separated from the promises of the Church. Nor can he who forsakes the Church of Christ attain the rewards of Christ: He is a stranger; he is a worldling; he is an enemy. — St. Cyprian of Carthage
