Today’s reading
1 Peter 1


To be “holy” is to be set apart. When Jesus came to earth, he didn’t do all of the same things that his buddies were doing. Sure, he did his chores and learned the family trade, but he lived differently. When the disciples wanted to “shoo” the children away, Jesus said no. When the crowds pushed the lepers away, Jesus pulled them close. When the religious people shunned the tax collectors, Jesus planned dinner at their house. Reflecting the words of Leviticus 11:44-45, the followers of Jesus are called to set themselves apart, not in isolation, but to stand apart from the expectations of culture in order to live and love like Jesus did. And that means we’re the ones who will pull over to help the homeless man on the corner, or sit down for a conversation with a family at the shelter, offering the spare bedroom in our home to someone who’s in need. Being holy means that our deepening relationship with Jesus sets us apart to reach others the way he did.

Jesus Calling

IN ME YOU HAVE EVERYTHING. In Me you are complete. Your capacity to experience Me is increasing through My removal of debris and clutter from your heart. As your yearning for Me increases, other desires are gradually lessening. Since I am infinite and abundantly accessible to you, desiring Me above all else is the best way to live.

It is impossible for you to have a need that I cannot meet. After all, I created you and everything that is. The world is still at My beck and call, though it often appears otherwise. Do not be fooled by appearances. Things that are visible arebrief and fleeting, while things that are invisible are everlasting.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

That You would bless me and mine, that You would enlarge our territory for Your will, that Your hand would be upon us, that You would keep us from evil and causing pain. Jesus I love You, I’m sorry, forgive me, thank You. Amen
