Walking without regrets

Walking through Ecclesiastes with Jesus…

OneWalk: Under the Sun, with the Son

A thought…
When it is all over you will not regret having suffered; rather you will regret having suffered so little, and suffered that little so badly. – St. Sebastian Valfre

A verse…

Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, "Life is not pleasant anymore." Remember him before the door to life’s opportunities is closed and the sound of work fades.
Ecclesiastes 12:1,4 NLT

A reading…
Ecclesiastes 12

Ecclesiastes 12:13 NLT
[13] That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty.

Ecclesiastes 12:14 NLT
[14] God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad.

Ecclesiastes 12:14— Jesus later affirms this sobering truth when he says: “For the time is coming when everything that is covered will be revealed, and all that is secret will be made known to all”( Matthew 10:26 ).

REFRAMING JESUS (Jesus Centered Bible)

Throughout Ecclesiastes, Solomon attempts to put life into perspective. He urges us to remember that the things we most often rely on for our happiness are just temporary. This includes our possessions, our relationships, our wisdom, and our work. These things are important, certainly, but only God can bring us genuine, lasting contentment. Our life is best aligned well when we’re primarily concerned with pleasing him by living lives of gratitude and obedience. Everything we have, including our very existence, ultimately belongs to God—and one day we will have to answer for how we have managed these gifts.

In Ecclesiastes 3:17, Solomon warns that one day God will judge all of us for how we’ve lived. God assigns this task of judging to Jesus alone (John 5:22-30). He will judge and reward his followers for the quality and character of their acts of service (2 Corinthians 5:10). He will also preside over the final judgment, when each person’s ultimate destiny will be determined, once and for all (Revelation 20:11-15).

A prayer…
Dear Lord God, Abba Father, Jesus my Savior. Today I pray for USA and all of our elected officials. Most of whom have lost their way. Consumed by power and corrupted by temptation. Like each of us, it cannot survive without You. May Your wisdom touch and awaken them before it’s to late for them and our country. The wisdom in Ecclesiastes is for them, us, and me. Let this post touch someone today. Amen

A song…
All I Can Do (Thank You)
