Holy Week Timeline – “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

One Walk with Jesus this Holy Wednesday is about prayer, prayer for faith, prayer for hope, and prayer for love…

A thought…

For me, prayer is an aspiration of the heart, it is a simple glance directed to heaven, it is a cry of gratitude and love in the midst of trial as well as joy; finally it is something great, supernatural, which expands my soul and unites me to Jesus.

The Bible doesn’t say what the Lord did on the Wednesday of Passion Week. Scholars speculate that after two exhausting days in Jerusalem, Jesus and his disciples spent this day resting in Bethany in anticipation of Passover.

Just a short time previously, Jesus had revealed to the disciples, and the world, that he had power over death by raising Lazarus from the grave. After seeing this incredible miracle, many people in Bethany believed that Jesus was the Son of God and put their faith in him. Also in Bethany just a few nights earlier, Lazarus’ sister Mary had lovingly anointed the feet of Jesus with expensive perfume.

A verse or two…

And Jesus answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her."
Luke 10:41-42 NKJV

Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
John 20:29 NKJV

A devotion…

“A successful day is one in which you have stayed in touch with Me, even if many things remain undone at the end of the day.”
from Jesus Calling Daily Devotion – Dear Jesus
page 28

Jesus replied: "’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment."
Matthew 22:37-38

The Words written in red…

I believe everyone should read the Bible, or start with the New Testament from beginning to end, or at least start with the four Gospels starting with John, Luke, Matthew and Mark. Or the Words written in red, those spoken by Jesus. You can do this with The Words Jesus of Nazareth, compiled by Lee Cantelon. Read Jesus’ words thematically, in clear and modern English, for non-Christians, spiritual seekers, agnostics and believers.

A prayer…

Dear Lord God, Abba Father, Jesus my Savior, thank You for Your Words of life. For Your blessings. For Your teachings. Help us to slow down and find a quite place to pray and listen. We allow ourselves to get busy and with being busy comes worry. Why, because we don’t make time to pray and rest in You. Busyness weakens our faith and with that we lose hope, and with the loss of hope we find it harder to love. And the loss of love we are separated from You even further. Help us Lord God to pray. Strengthen of faith, feed our hope, and be our example for love. In Jesus name I pray. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
