The LORD said to Moses: “Speak to Aaron and his sons and tell them: This is how you shall bless the Israelites. Say to them: The LORD bless you and keep you! Gospel Luke 2:16-21
The shepherds went in haste to Bethlehem and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger. When they saw this, they made known the message that had been told them about this child. All who heard it were amazed by what had been told them by the shepherds. And Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart. Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, just as it had been told to them. When eight days were completed for his circumcision, he was named Jesus, the name given him by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

Happy New Year and Happy Feast Day! Today, we celebrate Mary, the treasured vessel through which the Incarnation took place. Now, because of Mary’s acceptance of the Lord’s will, the powerful name of Jesus can be invoked in all places and by all peoples!

In her assent, she was ready to become spiritually the Mother of the Lord. In motherhood, the Spirit of the Lord takes possession of her in order to make her fruitful in accordance with the Spirit’s intention. Thus her motherhood becomes a key to all of Mary’s other mysteries.

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me. This new year I pray for me, mine and theirs.
‘May You bless us in Your mercy.’
‘And may we eat half, walk double, laugh triple and love without measure.’ Pray for us Holy Mother of God… that we learn to accept without compromise, welcome without judging. Standing firm in our faith through the Word, doing what Jesus would do… love first.
Thank You for hearing my prayers and walking with me, mine and theirs. And hearing their prayers.
