God’s temple in heaven was opened,

The angel Gabriel was sent from God
to a town of Galilee called Nazareth,
to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph,

and the virgin’s name was Mary.

But she was greatly troubled at what was said
and pondered what sort of greeting this might be.
Then the angel said to her,
“Do not be afraid, Mary,
for you have found favor with God.
Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son,
and you shall name him Jesus.

and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father,
and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever,
and of his Kingdom there will be no end.”
But Mary said to the angel,
“How can this be,
since I have no relations with a man?”

“The Holy Spirit will come upon you,
and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.
Therefore the child to be born
will be called holy, the Son of God.
And behold, Elizabeth, your relative,
has also conceived a son in her old age,

Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.
May it be done to me according to your word.”

Mary set out
and traveled to the hill country in haste

cried out in a loud voice and said,
“Most blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb.
And how does this happen to me,
that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

Blessed are you who believed
that what was spoken to you by the Lord
would be fulfilled.”

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
My most merciful mother, I love you and invite you to pour forth upon me and mine your love. I turn to you, this day, in my need, and I trust that you will bring us the abundant grace of your Son, Jesus. Mother Mary, O Virgin of Guadalupe, pray for us who turn to you in our need. Saint Juan Diego, pray for us.
Praying without ceasing for each of mine and those You place in my path.
