Prayer & Readings (Tuesday’s) – We should strive to keep our hearts open to the sufferings and wretchedness of other people, and pray continually that God may grant us that spirit of compassion which is truly the Spirit of God.

September 8, 2007

When: Saturday, September 08, 2007 11:30 AM-12:30 PM.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Dear Lord God, as I take this time to look back at this day I cannot help but be convicted by the Words of St Vincent for an open heart is what I pray for and seek; a heart led by my spirit being which is in Your image full of compassion for the suffering and wretchedness of others. A spirit being which reflects Your image and through and in You finds and always has what is needed to over come my human being which is in itself full of wretchedness and thinks only of its own sufferings, unable to comprehend Your existence or maintain a state of connection with You.

On this day Lord I looked to You and You were day, You guided me with Your presence, Your accompanied every step along this day, and when ever I felt I needed You most, I realized You were there and in the end as You constantly remind me through Your word, all things worked out. For I was in You and You were with and in me. Thank You Jesus, Amen.

1 But as to the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need to have anything written to you. 2 For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3 When people say, "There is peace and security," then sudden destruction will come upon them as travail comes upon a woman with child, and there will be no escape. 4 But you are not in darkness, brethren, for that day to surprise you like a thief. 5 For you are all sons of light and sons of the day; we are not of the night or of darkness. 6 So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober. 9 For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us so that whether we wake or sleep we might live with him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

Psalm 27:1, 4, 13-14
1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? 4 One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple. 13 I believe that I shall see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living! 14 Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; yea, wait for the LORD!

Luke 4:31-37
31 And he went down to Caper’na-um, a city of Galilee. And he was teaching them on the sabbath; 32 and they were astonished at his teaching, for his word was with authority. 33 And in the synagogue there was a man who had the spirit of an unclean demon; and he cried out with a loud voice, 34 "Ah! What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are, the Holy One of God." 35 But Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be silent, and come out of him!" And when the demon had thrown him down in the midst, he came out of him, having done him no harm. 36 And they were all amazed and said to one another, "What is this word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out." 37 And reports of him went out into every place in the surrounding region.

Dear Lord God, I think I need to move to a journal where I can write You the moment I want to capture my connection to You. Even though O talk to You more and more each day, and the Lord’s prayer, the prayer that Jesus used to teach us how to pray, I say when I open my eyes, when ever I feel disconnected or in need of Your special mercy and grace, till when I close my eyes; I even find myself saying it during the night when I toss and turn, even if my eyes are closed. All it takes is that moment of awareness that in that moment I have so much to be thankful for, even if I feel my errors and sins rising like flood waters trying to engulf and over take me.  This week I again was not able to stay in Your word as much as I need to, but I will try and catch up, so I ask Your help, use to moments that I look to You to convict me, help me to slow down and remember all the things I have done to make it possible to be in You word when and where ever I am. Lord why is it that writing You is so restful and refreshing, like a cool breeze on a hot day; I mean I talk to You and I am reminded that You are with me and that I seek Your will, but when I write You I feel like I am showing You that You are my Source of Source for everything, and without you I am nothing. O Lord through and in Jesus Christ I ask that You would bless me indeed, and that Your hand would be with me, to hear and guide me, to keep me from evil and most of all causing pain. For I would bear the pain rather than someone think You are not with me, and I in You, Amen.

Micah 5:1-4 or
1 Now you are walled about with a wall; siege is laid against us; with a rod they strike upon the cheek the ruler of Israel. 2 But you, O Bethlehem Eph’rathah, who are little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose origin is from of old, from ancient days. 3 Therefore he shall give them up until the time when she who is in travail has brought forth; then the rest of his brethren shall return to the people of Israel. 4 And he shall stand and feed his flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God. And they shall dwell secure, for now he shall be great to the ends of the earth.

Romans 8:28-30
28 We know that in everything God works for good with those who love him, who are called according to his purpose. 29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the first-born among many brethren. 30 And those whom he predestined he also called; and those whom he called he also justified; and those whom he justified he also glorified.

When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit; 19 and her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. 20 But as he considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit; 21 she will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins." 22 All this took place to fulfil what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: 23 "Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and his name shall be called Emmanuel" (which means, God with us).
