Words of Jesus

But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you. Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our debts, As we also have forgiven our debtors; And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil.

We do not have to talk very much in order to pray well. We know that God is there in His holy tabernacle; let us open our hearts to Him; let us rejoice in His Presence: This is the best prayer.

Abba, Father, Lord God, today I wake in prayer and once again You provide words of affirmation through St. John Vianney, so I looked to how Jesus directed us to pray, and reflected on Pastor McCord's sermon on praying and come to You

-On my knees, face down, I confess my sins

Oh most glorious and powerful God. I acknowledge and confess my sins; the weak and imperfect way I have handled the gifts and blessings You have given me. I have been a poor steward. Oh God who art rich in mercy and plenteous in redemption mark not I beseech Thee, what I have done amiss, cover my sins with the absolute obedience of Thy Dear Son and my Savior, the sacrifice of Jesus Christ offered upon the Cross for me.

-with listening ears

Dear Lord God whether I get anything else done today, I want to make sure I spend time loving You and loving other people in Your name Jesus; growing in You as You grow in me because that is what life as Your disciple is all about.

-and hands lifted in praise

For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever.

-thankful for Your grace

But by the grace of God, I am what I am and His grace toward me is not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which is with me.

In everything I give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Dear Lord God,

make me an channel of Your peace.

It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be made manifest in him. We must work the works of him who sent me… As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

It's true he was a sinner. But don't pass so final a judgment. Have pity in your heart and don't forget that he may yet be an Augustine, while you remain just another mediocrity.

Abba, Father, Lord God, wow – mediocrity once again You strike right to my core. Mediocrity is a state that must be driven by doubt and fear; doubt in oneself and fear of looking bad. Doubt in oneself can only be lack of oneness with Jesus, and fear of looking bad can only be the vanity of pride. The vanity of pride can only exist where Jesus is absent. For where there is oneness with Jesus there can be no doubt and no pride. Only a confident spirit can prevail for through Jesus we are one with You, as He is one with You, and in that oneness all things are possible. Oneness with Jesus starts at the foot of the Cross, for it is there that we can embrace a humble heart, knowing that it is only because of His passion that this oneness is now possible. It is at the feet of Jesus that we learn to accept our fallen nature and weakened condition; it is at His feet that we can begin the feel and find the Holy Spirit that lives within each of us. It is the Holy Spirit within us that we must come to know to maintain presence with Jesus as it is Jesus we must come to know to be one with You as You, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one. O Lord help me learn how to ride the winds of the Spirit, show me how to let them lift me up above the doubts and fears the hold me down. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Abba, Father, Lord God, another day of blessings and grace, and now I need Your help, give me a discerning heart and a mind to find away to overcome myself to serve You first in all I do. You present me with challenges that seem to always ask me or You? I seek You and long for the day that through Jesus the day will be soon that it will be not me or You, but how and when because I am one with You. Has Dinesh D'Souza writes in his book 'What so great about Christianity' both the believer and the unbeliever have doubts; help me make sure mine are only how and when through eyes of faith, eyes that see as Jesus does. O Lord God bless me indeed and enlarger my territory, keep me from evil and from causing pain. Abba, Father, Lord God, O how I rejoice and yet yearn for what I think should be. O how foolish of me, for what do I know. I have yet to figure it out for me so how can I think that I would know what it should be for anyone else. Is it that which I yet to find, or is it that which I have found. In a world where we are taught to try and make things happen. How do we release what we have been taught and learn to seek and await Your will. I know the answer lies in Jesus and in Him I hope to learn how to walk under the sun while serving only Your will. This is my prayer that You will show me in Jesus how to make things happen for You. O Lord that You would continue to bless me indeed, showing favor on my love ones and enlarging our territory for You, that Your hand would be with us to keep us from evil and from causing any pain. Create in me a pure clean heart set on You, living with Jesus. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
