Words of Jesus

But Jesus said to them, "For your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment. But from the beginning of creation, 'God made them male and female.' 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.' So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man put asunder."

Mark 10:1-12

Good virtuous folks feel more pleasure in the sorrow over their sins and the affliction of their penance than wretches feel in the fulfilling of their obsessed pleasure.

— St Thomas More

Abba, Father, Lord God, thank You for softening my heart and awakening me to strengthen hidden in faith, and courage found in hope, that produces unconditional love as its fruit whose source I believe can only be possible in You through Jesus worked out with the Holy Spirit within me. Help me to remain humble in spirit through the knowledge that is born from that faith filled in hope that the wisdom shared with me by Your Word through Jesus will become visible and cause others to ask, seek and open themselves to the daily practice of walking in Your presence aware of the human condition caused by its nature and the fulfilling grace and mercy that flows from being connected with You. For only here can we find this faith worked out in hope expressed in love that can help us 'not to grumble, against one another', nor dare to judge; for 'behold, the Judge is standing at the door'. And 'above all', help me, 'not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath, but let my yes be yes and my no be no, so that I may not fall under condemnation.' For only You do not 'deal with us according to our sins, nor requite us according to our iniquities.' In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

"Salt is a very good thing; but if it should lose its saltiness, what can you do to restore its flavor? You must have salt in yourselves, and live at peace with each other."

Words of Jesus

"For truly, I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you bear the name of Christ, will by no means lose his reward." "Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung round his neck and he were thrown into the sea." "Indeed, if it is your own hand that spoils your faith, you must cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than to keep both your hands and go to the rubbish-heap, if your foot spoils your faith, you must cut it off. It is better to enter life on one foot than to keep both your feet and be thrown on to the rubbish-heap. And if your eye leads you astray, pluck it out. It is better for you to go one-eyed into the kingdom of God than to keep both eyes and be thrown on to the rubbish-heap, where 'their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched'. For everyone will be salted by fire." "Salt is a very good thing; but if it should lose its saltiness, what can you do to restore its flavor? You must have salt in yourselves, and live at peace with each other."

Mark 9:41-50

The affairs of God are accomplished little by little and almost imperceptibly. The Spirit of God is neither violent nor hasty. He does all things in His time.

— St Vincent de Paul

Abba, Father, Lord God, thank You for Your blessings and this day, the birthday of my baby girl who through Jesus opened my heart to what true love is and began the process and chain of events that resulted in the awakening my soul through my spirit being to Your presence within me through the Holy Spirit and convicted me of my to have 'salt' and to restore its flavor daily through this time with You. Today's readings are filled with words of warning and fact, in wisdom and knowledge. For I know what it is like to be in the rubbish-heap, but for Your grace and mercy, the love of Jesus and my baby girl would remained. So with an open heart, awakened spirit and thankful soul I give praise and thank You Lord God. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
