Words of Jesus
As he entered Caper’na-um, a centurion came forward to him, beseeching him and saying, "Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, in terrible distress." And he said to him, "I will come and heal him." But the centurion answered him, "Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I am a man under authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to one, `Go,’ and he goes, and to another, `Come,’ and he comes, and to my slave, `Do this,’ and he does it." When Jesus heard him, he marveled, and said to those who followed him, "Truly, I say to you, not even in Israel have I found such faith. I tell you, many will come from east and west and sit at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven,  while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness; there men will weep and gnash their teeth." And to the centurion Jesus said, "Go; be it done for you as you have believed." And the servant was healed at that very moment. And when Jesus entered Peter’s house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever; he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and served him. That evening they brought to him many who were possessed with demons; and he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah, "He took our infirmities and bore our diseases."
Matthew 8: 5 – 17

We are well aware that it is not easy suddenly to change a mind possessed by ignorance, we intend to add a few things, for the sake of persuading those who love the truth, knowing that it is possible to put ignorance to flight by presenting the truth.
— St Justin the Martyr

Abba, Father, Lord God, thankful for all Your blessings, grace and mercy I feel an wakening, yet my attention is broken by the fight I must continue to amend and correct the errors of my irresponsibility. Strengthen me for the fight Lord, liken my heart to that of Jesus; help me to keep moving forward aware and embracing tall that You are teaching me. Let me end each day having taken more steps forward than back without judging or causing pain to anyone, and accepting my suffering and crosses in faith with hope in love strengthening my faith, hope and love. O that You would find the way to bless indeed, that Your hand would be with me each step today, keeping me from evil and from causing pain; lead me to a place that the fruits of my blessings will be used for Your work according to Your. Let my thoughts, words and acts be like lights on Your hill. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

The Shack Mackenzie Allen Philips’ youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack’s world forever. In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant "The Shack" wrestles with the timeless question, "Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?" The answers Mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him. You’ll want everyone you know to read this book!

Words of Jesus
When he came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him; and behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying, "Lord, if you will, you can make me clean." And he stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, "I will; be clean." And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. And Jesus said to him, "See that you say nothing to any one; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a proof to the people."
Matthew 8: 1 – 4

Abba, Father, Lord God, I do thank You for all Your blessings for I know I have been a poor steward and left to others the teaching of You to my children to others, but still You continued to bless me and Your mercy and grace continues rains down upon me. So my eyes continue to look upward to You and I with all supplication I come to You each day to seek Your will for I know mine will is still unclean. I ask and pray in Jesus name as the leper “Lord, if you will, You can make me clean.” And now knowing You hear my every thought, word and prayer, I know I must do my part and walk with eyes of faith, creating hope in everything and way through love, unconditional love with the simplest of goals; to do You will and to be able to leave my time under the sun knowing that ‘me and my house serve You Lord God first and above all. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Words of Jesus
"Not everyone who says to me, `Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, `Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from me, you evildoers.’ "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house upon the rock; and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And every one who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house upon the sand; and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell; and great was the fall of it." And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.
Matthew 7: 21 – 29

Those who wage war against the truth are powerless to win; rather they wound themselves, like those who kick against spikes.
— St John Chrysostom

Abba, Father, Lord God, thankful that You wakened my spirit being to feel Your presence, I am humbled more each day by how much I have yet to feel, learn and apply. Since creation, whether 4000 or 4 billion years ago, only You know the truths that await us all, only You know the truths that give reason, only You know the truths behind good and evil, and only You know and understand the fallen nature of man. While I feel You have taught me while man cannot help but seek knowledge, thinking knowledge will give him what he needs, but only You can do that. For only in You can one find pure goodness and absent You there can be no lasting goodness because of man’s fallen nature and the corruptive effect knowledge has on the human being in feeding the darkness within which is self centered. I feel this is not to say that man is not meant to learn and evolve, always improving from one generation to the next; but only in the Spirit, through Jesus will we see the light, for You are the light, and in You there is no darkness for darkness can only be where You are not. Thus knowledge that does not have You as its source and purpose can never be all that it is meant to be, and do all that it is meant to do because absent You the corruptive forces of darkness will always prevail. Thus we live and walk under the sun in constant conflict within and we must accept and prepare ourselves to fight the fight, to run a good race, finding comfort, rest and what we need only in You. For just as I can never be counted on in all things to fill the needs of anyone else even those I love, so too I cannot count on anyone, but You to fill my needs. For only in You, through Jesus in the Spirit can bring me to my knees at the foot of the Cross, humbling me to the point of emptiness so that I can rise filled with Jesus teachings on faith, hope and love; and it is to the foot of the Cross that I must go whenever I seek to know or do anything but Your will or allow anything but You be my source and purpose for what I seek to learn and do. O Lord keep me humble, as much as it hurts in every way, bring back to the foot of the Cross whenever I begin to seek or fill myself with anything but You. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Words of Jesus
"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? So, every sound tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears evil fruit. A sound tree cannot bear evil fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will know them by their fruits.
Matthew 7: 15 – 20

Abba, Father, Lord God, aware that all I have is from You for You are my source of source, and I count every blessing giving praise and honoring Your name. Aware that all I have done wrong and failed to do right is the result of my choosing the ways under the sun over Your teachings. Aware that this is why You sent Jesus into the world under the sun, for those who chose wisely and those already dead under the sun have no need for a physician, but I do. For on my own I know I am prone to make the same wrong choices, it is only in the Spirit through Jesus that I can find the consciousness to chose wisely. So as the Psalmist sings so do I,
Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes; and I will keep it to the end.
Give me understanding, that I may keep thy law and observe it with my whole heart.
Lead me in the path of thy commandments, for I delight in it.
Incline my heart to thy testimonies, and not to gain!
Turn my eyes from looking at vanities; and give me life in thy ways.
Behold, I long for thy precepts; in thy righteousness give me life!
This I ask and pray in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Today is the Catholic Church celebrates the Birth of St. John the Baptist

Words of Jesus
Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has risen no one greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
Matthew 11:11

This is the difference between us and those who do not know God: they, in adversity, complain and grumble; we , on the other hand, are not drawn away from virtue by the things that go against us but are strengthened in it, for we know even the hairs of our head are numbered.
— St Cyprian

Abba, Father, Lord God, how thankful I am for all Your blessings even in the midst of strife and turmoil; and for Your inspired words which like today are rich in wisdom worthy of meditation and thought. O how my mind is a flutter with thoughts, beliefs, questions and most of all feelings, starting from the celebration of the John the Baptist by the Catholic Church. As I read Isaiah and the Psalms and then the Gospel of Luke I feel confirmation in my belief that before I (we) are formed in our mother’s worm You have planted in our hearts the need to know and have a relationship with You. After all You are our source of source; and while You know me (us) from the inside out, knowing even the number of hairs and You have had a plan for me, You have also let me make my own choices. In this I have failed You by choosing to do the wrong things and failing to do the rights things; but thankful am I for the Holy Spirit that lives in me. Not the voice I hear that is subconscious in nature derived from the ways under the sun, but the conscious voice that hears the subconscious and in Jesus through the Holy Spirit connects me with You and gives me the chance over and over to choose. My way or Yours? For under the sun we all seek to satisfy our human nature which is temporary, but this is a path that I feel runs contrary to our source and true spiritual nature which is eternal. I feel this point emphasized in the words attributed to John the Baptist `What do you suppose that I am? I am not he. No, but after me one is coming, the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to untie.’ And the words they spoke of him at his circumcision ‘"What then will this child be?" For the hand of the Lord was with him.‘ Therefore it is in faith that I find the hope that this question remains unanswered as long as I still walk under the sun, and in fact can be asked of me each day and in each moment ‘what then will this child be?’ for Your hand is with me too, but will I take it, can I overcome the subconscious being whose source is under the sun, and walk as a consciously being with You through Jesus in the Holy Spirit. This is what I ask and pray for today and in doing so may be a light on Your hill seen by someone today. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Words of Jesus
"Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, `Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.
Matthew 7: 1 – 5

The beginning of sanctity lies in my total abandonment to the Lord’s will, even in little things.
— Bl. John XXIII

Abba, Father, Lord God, grateful but humbled by my selfish and prideful nature, unable to empty myself of all that I have become under the sun, I see and hear a man unable, yet worse I feel a man convicted by the spirit being he wishes to become, held back by the human being that he has become. O how vain I must be to think that I would have anything , but the Words of Jesus to offer anyone; when I have so far to go, how can I pronounce any thought, opinion or judgment on anyone? So I ask:  Is Jesus truly capable of breaking the chains that bind me? Can Jesus have mercy on me? Can Jesus rescue me from myself? What do I have to do to learn how to put Jesus’ teaches into action? To be His image under the sun; my heart likened to His, my words, actions and image a light on a hill. Surrounded by my mistakes, covered by the man I have become, not the man I want to be. A man after Your heart! O that You would find me worthy of continued mercy and grace, that You would bless me indeed, that Your hand would help separate me from what I have become, from what I am in Jesus. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
