Words written in red; Words of Jesus
Then Jesus told his disciples, "If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.  For whoever would save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.  For what will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what shall a man give in return for his life?  For the Son of man is to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay every man for what he has done.
Matthew 16: 24 – 27

If you should ask me what is the way of God, I would tell you that it is humility. Not that there are no other precepts to give, but if humility does not precede all that we do, our efforts are fruitless.
— St. Augustine

Abba, Father, Lord God, thankful for yesterday, grateful for today, You fill me with memories, You show me what means the most to me, and all the way You keep blessing me and touch me to let me know that You are with me, and so more and more in the simplest of things I find myself saying ‘my Lord God is with me, thank You Lord God‘. You know me better than I know myself, You know the number of hairs on my head and what is best for me; You have shown and proven to me that I am nothing without You, You are my source of source. To walk without You and Your counsel is like walking with my eyes closed; I feel to walk with You will be like running with my eyes closed. While I know I have much, much to learn and understand about how to let Your will flow through me to the point that there is no doubt, hesitation or worry, just faith, hope and love. I know You are there and I seek to practice Your presence more and more, until I am one with You, as You are one with me, and as You, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one. I have a lot to reconcile under the sun and there is much work to do and things to be taken care of, oneness with Your presence is what I will need to complete that which is before me. In Jesus name I ask You to help and bless me and mine, enlarge our territory, while keeping us from evil, and from causing pain. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

6  For it is the God who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.  7  But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, to show that the transcendent power belongs to God and not to us.  8  We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair;  9  persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;
10  always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.  11  For while we live we are always being given up to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh.  16  So we do not lose heart. Though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed every day.  17  For this slight momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,
Psalm 59:2, 10, 17-18
deliver me from those who work evil, and save me from bloodthirsty men.  10  My God in his steadfast love will meet me; my God will let me look in triumph on my enemies.  17  O my Strength, I will sing praises to thee, for thou, O God, art my fortress, the God who shows me steadfast love.
Matthew 16:24-27

Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack’s world forever. In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant "The Shack" wrestles with the timeless question, "Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?" Words written in red; Words of Jesus
And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every infirmity. The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zeb’edee, and John his brother; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Cananaean, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him. These twelve Jesus sent out, charging them, "Go nowhere among the Gentiles, and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And preach as you go, saying, `The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’
Matthew 10: 1 – 7

Abba, Father, Lord God, thankful for yesterday, grateful for today, I come to You with a humble mind learning to walk by and see with eyes of faith knowing without You I can do nothing and with You all things are possible; a heart that is always willing to die to itself in the hope that each time it rises more likened to that of Jesus; and a spirit hungry to know itself and in doing so grow closer to You. For I know that in You through Jesus in the Spirit I will find what I need and with Your mercy and grace what I desire. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Words written in red; Words of Jesus
As they were going away, behold, a dumb demoniac was brought to him. And when the demon had been cast out, the dumb man spoke; and the crowds marveled, saying, "Never was anything like this seen in Israel." But the Pharisees said, "He casts out demons by the prince of demons." And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every infirmity. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest."

Matthew 9: 32 – 38

Abba, Father, Lord God, thankful for yesterday, grateful for today and how You continue to bless me with new memories, and always what I need for this day. Your hand is clearly visible, not as the human being see and hears, but as the spirit being feels. Continue to use this time to do Your work in me, while guiding my thoughts, and directing my words and actions. For while I do not know why or how, I know You are at work in me, and Your hand is guiding me day by day; so mine is to be alert to You in practicing Your presence and expecting Your will be done on earth as it is done in heaven; and my heaven on earth is knowing that work that I do is according to Your will and that l have set my house to seek and follow my Lord Jesus in the Spirit as You have planned. O Lord God that You would continue to bless me and mine, enlarging our territory while keeping us from evil and from causing pain by walking in faith, seeing with hope, and showing love for all others first. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Words written in red; Words of Jesus
While he was thus speaking to them, behold, a ruler came in and knelt before him, saying, "My daughter has just died; but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live." And Jesus rose and followed him, with his disciples. And behold, a woman who had suffered from a hemorrhage for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment; for she said to herself, "If I only touch his garment, I shall be made well." Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, "Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well." And instantly the woman was made well. And when Jesus came to the ruler’s house, and saw the flute players, and the crowd making a tumult, he said, "Depart; for the girl is not dead but sleeping." And they laughed at him. But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose. And the report of this went through all that district.
Matthew 9: 18 – 26

With that slowness, with that passivity, with that reluctance to obey, what damage you do to the apostolate and what satisfaction you give to the devil.
—  St. Josemaria Escriva

Abba, Father, Lord God, thankful yesterday and grateful for today I come to You to ask and pray. To for You to bless this day and to pray for all those I lift up to You in thought and prayer today. For You know my intent is not to ask for that which is not Your will, but to seek Your will, and to ask for Your help in accepting, understanding and learning how to put each event and thing to use and work for You. To trust only in Jesus and to become one in the Spirit with Him and You; so guide my thoughts, words and actions accordingly today, letting faith be what feeds me, hope what drives me, and love what comes forth from me. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Words written in red; Words of Jesus
At that time Jesus declared, "I thank thee, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to babes; yea, Father, for such was thy gracious will. All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
Matthew 11: 25 – 30

No, my dear children, we need never fear that the Mass hinders us in the fulfillment of our temporal affairs; it is altogether the other way around. We may be sure that all will go better and that even our business will succeed better than if we have the misfortune not to assist at Mass.

Words written in red; Words of Jesus
Then the disciples of John came to him, saying, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?" And Jesus said to them, "Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? The days will come, when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast. And no one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch tears away from the garment, and a worse tear is made. Neither is new wine put into old wineskins; if it is, the skins burst, and the wine is spilled, and the skins are destroyed; but new wine is put into fresh wineskins, and so both are preserved."

Matthew 9: 14 – 17

Whoever aspires to perfection must beware of saying," I was right. They did that to me without reason." If you are not willing to bear any cross which is given you not according to reason, perfection is not for you..

Abba, Father, Lord God, thankful for yesterday, grateful for today, I ask and pray that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, let Your hand be with me and mine to keep us from evil and from causing pain. Guide us through the days to come, protect us, touch our hearts with the blessings within this day, the moment we are in, free from yesterday and all of its chains, hurts and pains; aware that one moment with You is better than a thousand without You. In and with faith help us to not to lose today in yesterday, but with and in hope find promise for tomorrow today, and let love, unconditional love be the image of Jesus we become and reflect to light the way for us all to see what we are in and with You. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
