According to your faith, so you will receive. Take heed to yourselves; if your brother sins, rebuke him, if he repents, forgive him; if he sins against you seven times in the day, turns to you seven times, and says, `I repent,’ you must forgive him.

Faith that Moves Mountains

According to your faith, so you will receive.

As you live your life invigorated by the breath of God, the conflicts of this earth will be overcome by heaven’s power: and whatever you allocate on earth will be that which is in accordance to heaven’s plan.

Do not be afraid any longer, but believe. Everything is possible to the one who believes.

Abba, Father, Lord God, thankful and humble, I stand at a cross roads, committed to overcome the ways under the sun; but uncertain as to which path to take. I seek and look for the narrow path but need Your help. O that You would bless me indeed, enlarge my territory, keep me from evil, and from causing pain. Continue to teach me how to forget as soon as I forgive, and to only look to You through Jesus in the Spirit for my daily bread, and expect, seek and ask nothing from those under the sun. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

The love of worldly possessions is a sort of bird line, which entangles the soul, and prevents it flying to God.

Titus 1:1-9
Psalm 24:1-6

3  Who shall ascend the hill of the LORD? And who shall stand in his holy place? 4  He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false, and does not swear deceitfully. 5  He will receive blessing from the LORD, and vindication from the God of his salvation. 6  Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob.
Luke 17:1-6

1  And he said to his disciples, "Temptations to sin are sure to come; but woe to him by whom they come!  2  It would be better for him if a millstone were hung round his neck and he were cast into the sea, than that he should cause one of these little ones to sin.

3  Take heed to yourselves; if your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him;  4  and if he sins against you seven times in the day, and turns to you seven times, and says, `I repent,’ you must forgive him."  5  The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!"  6  And the Lord said, "If you had faith as a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this sycamine tree, `Be rooted up, and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.

The Words of Jesus of Nazareth

The Promise of the Spirit

It is the Spirit that has the power to give life.

When the Comforter, the Spirit of truth, whom I will send to you from the Father has come, he will testify of me. He will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I have told you.

V

Abba, Father, Lord God, O why do I look to anyone but You. Why do I ask anyone but You. And why do I expect anything from anyone but You. For I am as anyone else, weak by human being only made strong by my spirit being where through Jesus I am one with You; selfish and prideful until I am emptied of myself at the foot of the Cross where I am cleansed by the blood of Jesus, born again in the Spirit. O that You would help me walk in the spirit always. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

V

The soul united to God and transformed in him draws from within God a divine breath, much like the most high God himself. And God, abiding in the soul, breathes forth the life of the soul as its exemplar. This I take to be what Paul meant when he said: because you are children of God, God has sent to the Spirit of his Son into your heart’s crying, Abba, Father; this is what takes place in those who have achieved perfection.

The Words of Jesus of Nazareth

Disciples and Servants

Consider that which you possess in this life: family, money, and earthly possessions. Unless you are willing to make a total commitment, even of what you cherish, you cannot truly follow me.

The person who is diligent in small things will also be trusted with much; and the person who is dishonest with little will also be dishonest with a great deal. If you cannot be trusted with earthly riches, how shall you be trusted with spiritual treasures? And if you have not been faithful with what belongs to others, how shall you be trusted with riches of your own?

I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. Be as wise as serpents, but as harmless as doves.

You have seen how the earthly rulers exercise their authority, inconsiderate of the poor. This is not how it is to those in the kingdom of God . Whoever would be great among you must first become your servant. And whoever of you would be the greatest, must first be servant of all. Even so, I have come, not to be served, but to serve, and to give my life as a ransom for many.

V

Abba, Father, Lord God, aware of Your presence, thankful for Your grace, humbled by mercy I ask and pray that You would bless me indeed, enlarge my territory, keep me from evil and causing pain. That You would help me to empty myself and walk in humility counting myself no better than anyone else, yet committed to doing my best with those gifts that You have bestowed on me, in appreciation and honor of You and for Your glory. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Philippians 4:10-19

11  Not that I complain of want; for I have learned, in whatever state I am, to be content.  12  I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound; in any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and want.  13  I can do all things in him who strengthens me.
Psalm 112:1-2, 5-6, 8-9

5  It is well with the man who deals generously and lends, who conducts his affairs with justice.  6  For the righteous will never be moved; he will be remembered for ever.  8  His heart is steady, he will not be afraid, until he sees his desire on his adversaries.
Luke 16:9-15

9  And I tell you, make friends for yourselves by means of unrighteous mammon, so that when it fails they may receive you into the eternal habitations.  10  "He who is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much; and he who is dishonest in a very little is dishonest also in much.  11  If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will entrust to you the true riches?  12  And if you have not been faithful in that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?  13  No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."  14  The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all this, and they scoffed at him.  15  But he said to them, "You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts; for what is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

The Words of Jesus of Nazareth

On Being Born a Second Time

Do not marvel when I tell you that you must be born anew.

Truly, I tell you: unless you are born anew, you will not see the kingdom of God. Unless you are born of water and the breath of God, you will not enter into the kingdom of God.

That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the breath of God is spirit. The wind blows where it wishes, and we hear the sound that it makes; still we do not know from where it comes, or where it will go. So it is for those who are born anew by the breath of God.

V

Abba, Father, Lord God, I know You are at work within me because I look within first when stumbling, falling or confronting disappointment, loss or conflict; what could I have done different? What did I fail to do? What did I do wrong? And even when I feel right I seek first to be humbled at the foot of the Cross where I can only empty myself and pray that You would help me by likening my heart to Jesus’ and never counting myself above anyone. Dying to myself and leaving the physical being born and raised under the sun behind and rising in spirit with Jesus to soaring above the ways and things under the sun that bind and in slave me to what I have been, to keep me from being what I am. I am a child of You Lord God reborn in the Spirit through Jesus my Lord and Savior, my teacher and counselor, my compass and benchmark for measuring my growth in the Spirit and my reflection and likeness to His image. I must continue to fight what seems logical under the Sun and embrace what seems impossible under the Sun, knowing anything is possible if asked in His name, seeking His heart, image and will first. In the name of the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Philippians 3:174:1

18  For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, live as enemies of the cross of Christ.  19  Their end is destruction, their god is the belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things.  20  But our commonwealth is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,  21  who will change our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power which enables him even to subject all things to himself.
Psalm 122:1-5
Luke 16:1-8

1  He also said to the disciples, "There was a rich man who had a steward, and charges were brought to him that this man was wasting his goods.  2  And he called him and said to him, `What is this that I hear about you? Turn in the account of your stewardship, for you can no longer be steward.’  3  And the steward said to himself, `What shall I do, since my master is taking the stewardship away from me? I am not strong enough to dig, and I am ashamed to beg.  4  I have decided what to do, so that people may receive me into their houses when I am put out of the stewardship.’  5  So, summoning his master’s debtors one by one, he said to the first, `How much do you owe my master?’  6  He said, `A hundred measures of oil.’ And he said to him, `Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.’  7  Then he said to another, `And how much do you owe?’ He said, `A hundred measures of wheat.’ He said to him, `Take your bill, and write eighty.’  8  The master commended the dishonest steward for his shrewdness; for the sons of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own generation than the sons of light.

The Words of Jesus of Nazareth

An Invitation to Life

A wealthy man planned a great banquet, and invited many guests. When the preparations were completed, he sent his servant to gather those who had been invited. "Come,” he said, “for all things are ready."

But all those who had been invited began to make excuses.

The first replied: "I have just purchased a piece of land, and I must go and look at it again. Please have me excused."

The second said: "I have just purchased a herd of cattle, and I must go and examine it. Please have me excused."

A third answered: "I have recently been married, and for this, I cannot attend."

Finally, the servant returned and reported what had happened. Hearing the disappointing news, the master commanded: "Go quickly into the streets of the city, and gather the poor, the lame, the ill, and the blind."

The servant hurried to do this and soon returned, saying: "Sir, I have done as you commanded, and still there is room at the table."

"Go then," the rich man replied, "along the highways and among the fields, and urge those you meet to come in, that my table might be filled. For I say to you: none of those that were originally invited will taste of the banquet that I had prepared for them."

Whoever hears my word and believes in the One who has sent me will find eternal life and not be condemned. Instead, they will pass from death unto life.

V

Abba, Father, Lord God, time, under the sun what else is there that we can give freely no matter what our state, what is more precious. For only You know how long the dash between our physical birth and death will be. Thankful I wake each day and grateful I close my eyes each night, realizing, knowing that by Your grace and mercy I walk and will wake again. In this process I find the essence of humility in realizing, knowing that without You I can do nothing, and as St. Paul writes ‘do nothing from selfishness or conceit, but in humility count others better than myself.’ Thus as read my Lord Jesus’ parable about the wealthy man who planned a great banquet and invited many guest, I see and find myself as those to selfish, to prideful, to occupied by the busyness under the sun to remember to keep You first as a wake, walk and when I close my eyes at night, above all, in faith, hope and love, and with my time. Always listening, always seeking, always asking and praying that I will remember to put and keep You in Jesus with the Spirit first, answering Your invitation with the time I spend seeking and serving You. In the name of the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, Amen.

V

If I love Jesus, I ought to resemble Him; If I love Jesus, I ought to love what He loves, what He does, what He prefers to all else: humility. How may we acquire this virtue? Neither logic or reflection will help us any; thinking nice thoughts about it or taking heroic resolutions would lead us to believe we had already acquired it, and we would content ourselves with that. We must examine our actions to see if we not sought our own interest in them. Let us repeat often, "Jesus, so humble of heart, make our hearts like unto thine."

— St. Peter Eymard

V

Philippians 3:3-8

For we are the true circumcision, who worship God in spirit, and glory in Christ Jesus, and put no confidence in the flesh.  4  Though I myself have reason for confidence in the flesh also. If any other man thinks he has reason for confidence in the flesh, I have more:  5  circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew born of Hebrews; as to the law a Pharisee,  6  as to zeal a persecutor of the church, as to righteousness under the law blameless.  7  But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ.  8  Indeed I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as refuse, in order that I may gain Christ.
Psalm 105:2-7

4  Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his presence continually!
Luke 15:1-10

The Promise of the Spirit

His is the breath of truth. The world does not accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you will know him, for he will dwell with you, and in you.

When he has come, he will reveal to the world what is sin, and what is righteousness and judgment. Sin, because you do not believe in me; righteousness, because I go to my Father, and you will not see me; judgment, because the oppressive power of the prince of this world has been broken.

Abba, Father, Lord God, help me, give me the words to express myself. O Lord God I ask that You bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, keeping me from evil and from causing pain. Philippians 2:5-11

5  Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,  6  who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,  7  but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.  8  And being found in human form he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross.

This Generation

Come unto me all who are tired, oppressed, and sick of life, and I will give you wonderful rest! Receive my words and let me teach you, for I am gentle and kind. You will find rest for your souls. That which I ask of you is for your benefit, and that which I demand of you is light.

Abba, Father, Lord God, humbled by reality of myself, thankful for the grace and mercy by which I walk; I know how grateful I am and should be even in the shadows of my walk. For around the corner I know not what awaits, but I know I am not alone and I am. I am in Jesus, seeking the right spirit of forgiveness, understanding with love, in faith, by hope with love. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

If only mortals would learn how great it is to possess divine grace, how beautiful, how noble, how precious. How many riches it hides within itself, how many joys and delights! Philippians 2:1-4

1  So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any incentive of love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy,  2  complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.  3  Do nothing from selfishness or conceit, but in humility count others better than yourselves.  4  Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Psalm 131:1-3

O LORD, my heart is not lifted up, my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me
Luke 14:12-14

12  He said also to the man who had invited him, "When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your kinsmen or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return, and you be repaid.  13  But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind,  14  and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. You will be repaid at the resurrection of the just."
