The Words of Jesus of Nazareth by Lee Cantelon
The Light That Has Lighted the World
I have come to be a light to the world, that whoever believes in me should not remain in darkness. I am the light that has lighted the world; they that follow me will never again walk in darkness, but live their lives in the light.
Once, you journeyed into the wilderness to listen to John, the prophet you called the Baptiser. He spoke to you of the truth. He was a burning and shining light: and you were willing, at least for a while, to follow him. Now, one has come with a greater demonstration of power than John, for the work that my Father has given me to accomplish, the very acts which I perform now in your presence, prove that I am sent from God.
If I do not the works of my Father, then you are free to turn away. But, if I do his works, even if you don’t believe in me, believe in the works that I do; that you may know and believe that the Father is in me and I am in him. I must do the work of him who sent me while it is day, because the night is fast approaching when no one will be able to work.
You do not light a candle and then conceal it beneath a vase or place it under a bed; instead, you set it on a candlestick, so that you or your guests enter a house filled with light. Do you not realize that you are called out to be lights in this world? Your life is similar to a city built on a hill that cannot go unnoticed. Let your light therefore shine brightly before all people, that they might see your good works and praise your Father who is in heaven.
That which you do in secret will eventually be revealed, and that which seems to be hidden will one day be broadcast far and wide. What I am telling you now in private proclaim publicly, and what you hear whispered by the Spirit, shout aloud from the housetops.

Abba, Father, Lord God, thankful and humble, I come before You to learn in the light that which cannot been seen in the dark; for only in the light can one see Your hand at work within. For as my Lord Jesus said ‘the work that My Father has given me to accomplish, the very acts which I perform now in your presence, prove that I am sent from God.’ One cannot apply the reason under the sun to these Words and works, for under the sun one works in darkness, only in the light of Jesus can one see to feel, and feel to see, that work. Under the sun one finds reasons not to believe what is seen in the light and felt in the dark; in the light of Jesus, one finds the innocence of childhood to not question what is seen, what one feels, what one believes without question or doubt. In the name of the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, Amen.

In the same way that a powerful medicine cures an illness, so illness itself is a medicine to cure passion. And there is much profit of soul in bearing illness quietly and giving thanks to God.

Luke 1:26-38
26 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And he came to her and said, "Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!" 29 But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered in her mind what sort of greeting this might be. 30 And the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. 32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there will be no end." 34 And Mary said to the angel, "How shall this be, since I have no husband?" 35 And the angel said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. 36 And behold, your kinswoman Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. 37 For with God nothing will be impossible." 38 And Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her.

There’s No Such Thing as "Business" Ethics (Unabridged) Best-selling author and expert on leadership John C. Maxwell claims there is only one rule for business. How does a person judge what is ethical? Sometimes it’s clear. You know Enron’s leaders were in the wrong. But is it always easy to see where the line is in your life? What’s the standard? And can it work in all situations? John C. Maxwell thinks it can. When the New York Times best-selling author, successful businessman, and former pastor was asked about his thoughts on business ethics, his response was, "There’s no such thing. There’s only ethics." Maxwell asserts there’s one ethical standard for all behavior. And you might be surprised by what it’s based on. Did you know that a variation of the Golden Rule exists in every major religion? In There’s No Such Thing as Business Ethics, Maxwell shows how people can live with integrity by using the Golden Rule as their standard (regardless of religion, culture, or circumstances). Along the way, he delves into the desires of the human heart, reveals the five most common causes that get people off track ethically, and teaches how to develop the Midas touch when it comes to integrity.
