Walking in Patience

May 31, 2018

Walking with Jesus…

OneWalk: Under the Sun, with the Son

A thought…
It’s tough and it doesn’t get any easier. We need to have patience with ourselves, knowing “God is not finished with me yet.”
As today’s devotion states… Our transformation will not happen overnight; it will take a lifetime of God-forming and God-shaping to become like His son. But His promise remains: “He will keep you strong to the end so that you will be free from all blame on the day when our Lord Jesus Christ returns.” (1 Corinthians 1:8)

A verse…

“Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.” Hebrews 10:36 (NLT)

A devotional…
You’re a Masterpiece in the Making
By Pastor Dan – K-LOVE Pastor Track http://myklove.nexisit.net/crowdhub_share_v2/2/151420

Over time, I have come to realize there are no super-saints, except Jesus. The rest of us are simply “saints” saved by grace. Jesus is the only one who can transform us to become who He created us to be. And He promises in Hebrews 3:5 to hang in there with us: “I will never leave or forsake you.”

A prayer…
O God, Abba Father, Jesus my Lord and Savior, I know You’re not finished with me yet. You can’t be. I’m reminded of this far to often throughout each day. The cycle of hope that I will reflect Your image and presence in me, followed by the reality of disappointment and regret when I don’t. So all I can do is keep praying, keep coming back to the foot of the Cross, and dying to myself. Rising with and in You, until that final rise when I will truly be with You. So keep be humble, hopeful and happy in this truth. Amen

Walking with Love

May 30, 2018

Walking with Jesus…

OneWalk: Under the Sun, with the Son

A thought…

This mornings Yogi tea quote ‘Love is an experience of infinity’ made me think about the pure feeling love brings me. The love for my mom, dad and grandparents, brother, sisters and cousin, the love for my wife, children and grandchildren; and most of all the love I have for Jesus Christ. It truly is an experience of infinity, never ending and unconditional with the power to change and transform. Maybe that’s why Jesus commands us to put love for God and others above all else.

A verse…

Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.
Hebrews 10:24 (NLT)

A reading…
1 Corinthians 13
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Corinthians+13&version=NLT

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NLT

A prayer…
Dear God, Abba Father, Jesus my Lord and Savior. Thank You for teaching me the power of love, and showing me what love really is and means. O that You would liken my heart to Yours so that I will love as You love, and Your love is visible in me. Amen

Walking with Pride or Confidence?

May 29, 2018

Walking with Jesus…
OneWalk: Under the Sun, with the Son

A thought…
“I think to many of us mistake pride for confidence. We all need more confidence and less pride. Confidence comes from our relationship with Jesus, pride is what the devil uses to separate us from Jesus and that relationship as well as others.”

A few verses…

1 John 2:16 NLT
For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.

Hebrews 13:6 NLT
So we can say with confidence, “The LORD is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?”

Some more thoughts…

5 truths about pride
The prideful person

never says they’re wrong.

doesn’t accept input, but goes at everything alone. They makes decisions in a vacuum.

bristles when taking advice/correction.

doesn’t take others into account.

craves public and/or private recognition for the works they’ve done.

6 truths about confidence
The confident person

measures their choices and actions with wisdom.

weighs input from others, and moves towards the Truth.

doesn’t proceed through selfish ambitions. (Philippians 2:3-4)

realizes they can’t do it alone.

knows who they are, and who they aren’t. They’re “confident” where God has gifted them.

works to build others up. (Ephesians 4:12-13)

A prayer…

Dear God, Abba Father, Jesus my Lord and Savior. Help me to walk humbly in and with You; dying to my selfish pride and rising in the confidence of Your promises and words. An example of Your presence in me for all to see. Amen

Walking in the light

May 27, 2018

Walking with Jesus…

OneWalk: Under the Sun, with the Son

Every morning when I wake up to let the dogs out and make my morning tea I turn on the kitchen light and look out over the lake. Some times all I see is my reflection as if I was looking in a mirror; other times I see the lake, the ducks, all the houses around the lake. What’s the difference?

When there is light only on my side of the window glass I see my reflection. When there is light on the other side of the window glass I see everything.

I often think this is what my walk with Jesus is like. If I allow myself get disconnected from Him I see everything through my reflection, or my eyes. Projecting all the my thoughts and feelings onto and into everything I see. But when I connected to Him, He lights the way and I see everything as He created it. I see through His eyes and with His heart.

But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7 NLT

1 John 1 (NLT)

Introduction

[1] We proclaim to you the one who existed from the beginning, whom we have heard and seen. We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands. He is the Word of life. [2] This one who is life itself was revealed to us, and we have seen him. And now we testify and proclaim to you that he is the one who is eternal life. He was with the Father, and then he was revealed to us. [3] We proclaim to you what we ourselves have actually seen and heard so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. [4] We are writing these things so that you may fully share our joy.

Living in the Light

[5] This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. [6] So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. [7] But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. [8] If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. [9] But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. [10] If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts. …

A prayer…
My God, Abba Father, Jesus my Lord and Savior. I love You, I’m sorry, forgive me, thank You. So many times I feel like Jacob, when he wrestles with You and is wounded, and through this he sees Your face. Why is it that (I) we most often only through wrestling with Jesus, and our wounds, that they see Him for who he is. And who we are in Him. O that You would bring me back to zero limits in You. Broken free of any memory of my sins and disobedience. So I only walk and see through Your eyes and feel with Your heart. This is my prayer, hear me now. Amen

Walking in Prayer

May 26, 2018

Walking with Jesus…

OneWalk: Under the Sun, with the Son

From spontaneous shout outs of “help me Jesus” to long walks thoughtfully lifting up individuals by name and situations in detail. For me prayer is all about my relationship with Jesus. The more I’m praying the closer I feel. The more of Him and less of me. It’s about oneness, walking as one; OneWalk.”

Pray without ceasing…
1 Thessalonians 5:17

Thinking of Prayer as Jesus Taught

Our thinking about prayer, whether right or wrong, is based on our own mental conception of it. The correct concept is to think of prayer as the breath in our lungs and the blood from our hearts. Our blood flows and our breathing continues “without ceasing”; we are not even conscious of it, but it never stops. And we are not always conscious of Jesus keeping us in perfect oneness with God, but if we are obeying Him, He always is. Prayer is not an exercise, it is the life of the saint. Beware of anything that stops the offering up of prayer. “Pray without ceasing…”— maintain the childlike habit of offering up prayer in your heart to God all the time.

Jesus never mentioned unanswered prayer. He had the unlimited certainty of knowing that prayer is always answered. Do we have through the Spirit of God that inexpressible certainty that Jesus had about prayer, or do we think of the times when it seemed that God did not answer our prayer? Jesus said, “…everyone who asks receives…” (Matthew 7:8). Yet we say, “But…, but….” God answers prayer in the best way— not just sometimes, but every time. However, the evidence of the answer in the area we want it may not always immediately follow. Do we expect God to answer prayer?

The danger we have is that we want to water down what Jesus said to make it mean something that aligns with our common sense. But if it were only common sense, what He said would not even be worthwhile. The things Jesus taught about prayer are supernatural truths He reveals to us.

A prayer…
Help me Jesus! O God, Abba Father, Jesus my Savior here me. O that You would continue to bless me and mine, that You would enlarge our territory for Your purposes, that Your hand would be upon us, that You would keep us from evil and causing pain. I seek Your heart. I seek oneness, I seek more of You, and less of me. I seek truth and wisdom that can only come from You. Walk with me, guide me and instruct me moment by moment, breath by breath. Walking in Despair

May 25, 2018

Walking with Jesus…

OneWalk: Under the Sun, with the Son

When I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead.
Revelation 1:17

The Delight of Despair

It may be that, like the apostle John, you know Jesus Christ intimately. Yet when He suddenly appears to you with totally unfamiliar characteristics, the only thing you can do is fall “at His feet as dead.” There are times when God t may be that, like the apostle John, you know Jesus Christ intimately. Yet when He suddenly appears to you with totally unfamiliar characteristics, the only thing you can do is fall “at His feet as dead.” There are times when God cannot reveal Himself in any other way than in His majesty, and it is the awesomeness of the vision which brings you to the delight of despair. You experience this joy in hopelessness, realizing that if you are ever to be raised up it must be by the hand of God.

“He laid His right hand on me…” (Revelation 1:17). In the midst of the awesomeness, a touch comes, and you know it is the right hand of Jesus Christ. You know it is not the hand of restraint, correction, nor chastisement, but the right hand of the Everlasting Father. Whenever His hand is laid upon you, it gives inexpressible peace and comfort, and the sense that “underneath are the everlasting arms” (Deuteronomy 33:27), full of support, provision, comfort, and strength. And once His touch comes, nothing at all can throw you into fear again. In the midst of all His ascended glory, the Lord Jesus comes to speak to an insignificant disciple, saying, “Do not be afraid” (Revelation 1:17). His tenderness is inexpressibly sweet. Do I know Him like that?

Take a look at some of the things that cause despair. There is despair which has no delight, no limits whatsoever, and no hope of anything brighter. But the delight of despair comes when “I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells…” (Romans 7:18). I delight in knowing that there is something in me which must fall prostrate before God when He reveals Himself to me, and also in knowing that if I am ever to be raised up it must be by the hand of God. God can do nothing for me until I recognize the limits of what is humanly possible, allowing Him to do the impossible reveal Himself in any other way than in His majesty, and it is the awesomeness of the vision which brings you to the delight of despair. You experience this joy in hopelessness, realizing that if you are ever to be raised up it must be by the hand of God.

A prayer…

O Lord God, Abba Father, Jesus my Savior let my delight in Your presence, if only for a moment in the midsts of despair without limits or hope. For in that moment I will find Your hand upon me and be able to grasp it and find hope to persevere. And as always, so that others will see Your presence in me as a light for them to seek out. O that You would never lift Your hand from me and mine. I love you, I’m sorry, forgive me, thank You. Amen

OneWalk: Under the Sun, with the Son

Today’s Prayer, Worship Song, Bible Verse, Reading and Devotion

Today’s prayer
Dear God, Abba Father, Jesus my Lord and Savior, I humbly come to You for Your wisdom and to get back to You, my source of source. The fruit of the Spirit. And the peace I know with and in You. No not just for me and the peace I know with You. But for all those that don’t know You like I do. Don’t know or have Your peace in them. Don’t run to You, like I run to You. Don’t see You as their source of source like I do. Don’t feel You like I do. Especially mine. For even when I allow myself to be separated from You, I know You know I am a man after Your own heart. I love You, I am so sorry, forgive me, thank You. Show me how to make sure they see You in me even when I fail to die to myself in the moments that matter to them most. Use my brokenness to heal and save them. Amen
