This Week’s Focus: Forbearance
Forbearance is defined as:
the quality of someone who is patient and able to deal with a difficult person or situation without becoming angry
a refraining from the enforcement of something (as a debt, right, or obligation) that is due
Father God, today I stand before you “in the breach,” asking for your forbearance in America during this acrimonious time in politics. In this moment, we need your patience. We are ever grateful that you deal with us, even when we are difficult, without becoming angry. I pray that you would give us, your people in America, your heart of forbearance as we participate in the political process this year and every year.

“They forgot God their Savior, Who had done great things in Egypt, Wondrous works in the land of Ham, Awesome things by the Red Sea. Therefore, He said that He would destroy them, Had not Moses His chosen one stood before Him in the breach, To turn away His wrath, lest He destroy them." (NKJV)
In Your Prayers, Also Remember
With the impeachment inquiry on the President in full swing, it is especially important to pray for our leaders and respect their office even if we do not respect the person (1 Timothy 2:1–2). This principle applies to leaders of both parties across the political spectrum. If they are in public office, they are to receive our intercession. Pray against the further division of this country.
We are to speak truth in ways that glorify God and advance the common good. This verse is a perpetual command from the Lord: “When you talk, do not say harmful things, but say what people need—words that will help others become stronger. Then what you say will do good to those who listen to you” (Ephesians 4:29). Pray for your speech to be a powerful witness in these polarizing days.
