Matthew 20:17-28
As Jesus was going up to Jerusalem,
he took the Twelve disciples aside by themselves,
and said to them on the way,
“Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem,
and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests
and the scribes,
and they will condemn him to death,
and hand him over to the Gentiles
to be mocked and scourged and crucified,

Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee approached Jesus with her sons
and did him homage, wishing to ask him for something.
He said to her, “What do you wish?”

Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you shall be your servant;

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, thank You for Your Word. The traditions of Your Church handed down through the generations by the prophets and saints teach us the secrets of having a relationship with Jesus. And the value and virtue of following Your teachings. For if left to our own, we are lost sinners consumed by our selfish, prideful ways. But in and through Jesus we find humility in awareness of ourselves to love everyone. Even our enemies and those who persecute us. At a time when we believers, Your Church and Your teachings are under attack from all sides and persecution if growing. We must stand and fight, but we must do so in love and with prayer. Hear our prayers. Help us Jesus. Show us the way. Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls. In Jesus name I pray. Ezekiel 18:21-28
Thus says the Lord GOD:
If the wicked man turns away from all the sins he committed,
if he keeps all my statutes and does what is right and just,
he shall surely live, he shall not die.
None of the crimes he committed shall be remembered against him;
he shall live because of the virtue he has practiced.
Do I indeed derive any pleasure from the death of the wicked?
says the Lord GOD.
Do I not rather rejoice when he turns from his evil way
that he may live?
And if the virtuous man turns from the path of virtue to do evil,
