Dear Lord God, You continue to bless me and pouring Your mercy and grace down upon me even when I stumble. Unworthy as I am as the Palmist sings everyday I bless Thee and praise Thy name, giving thanks and dying to myself to rise with my Lord Jesus Christ. Always seeking to feel closer to You through Him and His teachings in the Spirit. Always praying for Wisdom, but content to live a life of faith, hope and love in Christ. For nothing else makes sense and I know I am not of this earthly place, but belong to You. And as Your servant seek Your will and purpose, but as much as I need You as my daily bread, I know there are others facing real problems that are not of their doing. I lift up to You these souls who face daily tribulations and pain as the result of others and ask and pray that You continue to carry them and that for those You already love and know You, You feed them this day with an extra portion of Your mercy and grace, showing them in some way that You are with them and in their suffering they are not a lone.  For those that have yet to accept they love and need You, I ask that their heart be opened without having to endure anymore suffering and pain. That You send someone across their path to touch them for You. O Lord for the sake of His sorrowful passion have mercy on all of us who love and know You and on the whole world. In Jesus name I ask and pray, Amen.

Would we wish that our own hidden sins should be divulged? We ought, then, to be silent regarding those of others. – St. John Baptist de la Salle

1 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. 5 Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: fornication, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 On account of these the wrath of God is coming. 7 In these you once walked, when you lived in them. 8 But now put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and foul talk from your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old nature with its practices 10 and have put on the new nature, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. 11 Here there cannot be Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scyth’ian, slave, free man, but Christ is all, and in all.

Psalm 145:2-3, 10-13
2 Every day I will bless thee, and praise thy name for ever and ever. 3 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable. 10 All thy works shall give thanks to thee, O LORD, and all thy saints shall bless thee! 11 They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and tell of thy power, 12 to make known to the sons of men thy mighty deeds, and the glorious splendor of thy kingdom. 13 Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endures throughout all generations. The LORD is faithful in all his words, and gracious in all his deeds.

Luke 6:20-26
20 And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said: "Blessed are you poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. 21 "Blessed are you that hunger now, for you shall be satisfied. "Blessed are you that weep now, for you shall laugh. 22 "Blessed are you when men hate you, and when they exclude you and revile you, and cast out your name as evil, on account of the Son of man! 23 Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets. 24 "But woe to you that are rich, for you have received your consolation. 25 "Woe to you that are full now, for you shall hunger. "Woe to you that laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep. 26 "Woe to you, when all men speak well of you, for so their fathers did to the false prophets.

Prayer & Readings – Christ stands out for us as the example of this teaching: if Christ laid down his life for us, so we also ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.

Dear Lord God, once again I cried out and You answered me! Now while I seek Your righteousness, I know I fall short and often backwards, but I get up now looking for You for I do seek Your righteousness. To reflect the fruit of the Spirit, the image of Jesus Christ is all I could ever hope for or to be; yet I fully know that I do understand or have not figured out or is it that I do not want to hear Jesus’ words for while I am far from a rich man, the message is the same; yet I cannot get past my need to care for those that I have brought with me to this point in time and state of life. I know that it is this vision of providing material comforts and security, as earthly as it was and is and as poorly as I have performed in doing it that as put me in this state, but I believe there must and is away to server Your will and provide for those I love and those in need. I feel You are calling me to find that away, but You are teaching me what it is not first. O Lord there is so much I do not understand, but I know what I need to know and to do and that may mean waiting on You. So I will continue to seek Your will and propose, listening with an attentive ear and open heart, or at least this is my prayer that in and through Jesus and in His Blessed Holy name You would direct me and used me while providing me with clarity, so that I am not viewed as all the other hypocrites that hide their true selves behind false righteousness and works. Hear me Lord God, provide me that which You know I need to do what You direct of me and know that I see every blessing and give thanks and praise to You and all the glory and honor to Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

The good Shepherd lays down his life, says the Lord, that is, his physical life, for His sheep; this he does because of his authority and love. Both in fact, are required: that they should be ruled by him, and that he should love them. The first without the second is not enough. Christ stands out for us as the example of this teaching: if Christ laid down his life for us, so we also ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.
— St. Thomas Aquinas

6 As therefore you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so live in him, 7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. 8 See to it that no one makes a prey of you by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the universe, and not according to Christ. 9 For in him the whole fulness of deity dwells bodily, 10 and you have come to fulness of life in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. 11 In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of flesh in the circumcision of Christ; 12 and you were buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead. 13 And you, who were dead in trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 having canceled the bond which stood against us with its legal demands; this he set aside, nailing it to the cross. 15 He disarmed the principalities and powers and made a public example of them, triumphing over them in him.

Psalm 145:1-2, 8-11
1 I will extol thee, my God and King, and bless thy name for ever and ever. 2 Every day I will bless thee, and praise thy name for ever and ever. 8 The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. 9 The LORD is good to all, and his compassion is over all that he has made. 10 All thy works shall give thanks to thee, O LORD, and all thy saints shall bless thee! 11 They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and tell of thy power,

Luke 6:12-19
12 In these days he went out to the mountain to pray; and all night he continued in prayer to God. 13 And when it was day, he called his disciples, and chose from them twelve, whom he named apostles; 14 Simon, whom he named Peter, and Andrew his brother, and James and John, and Philip, and Bartholomew, 15 and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon who was called the Zealot, 16 and Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor. 17 And he came down with them and stood on a level place, with a great crowd of his disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases; 18 and those who were troubled with unclean spirits were cured. 19 And all the crowd sought to touch him, for power came forth from him and healed them all.

Dear Lord God, there is so much I have yet to understand about the mystery of Christ Jesus, but at the same time I know all I need to do; trust in Him, take His yoke. For in and through Jesus I will find my daily bread, to accept and fulfill Your will on earth as it is in heaven. O Lord that You would bless me today and that Your hand would be with me to keep me from evil and from causing pain. O Lord for the sake of His sorrowful passion have mercy on us and on the whole world. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

I no longer desire to live a purely human life. Make this your choice if you yourselves would be chosen. – St. Ignatius of Antioch

24 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I complete what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church, 25 of which I became a minister according to the divine office which was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known, 26 the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now made manifest to his saints. 27 To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. 28 Him we proclaim, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man mature in Christ. 29 For this I toil, striving with all the energy which he mightily inspires within me.
1 For I want you to know how greatly I strive for you, and for those at La-odice’a, and for all who have not seen my face, 2 that their hearts may be encouraged as they are knit together in love, to have all the riches of assured understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, of Christ, 3 in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Psalm 62:6-7, 9
6 He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. 7 On God rests my deliverance and my honor; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. 9 Men of low estate are but a breath, men of high estate are a delusion; in the balances they go up; they are together lighter than a breath.

Luke 6:6-11
6 On another sabbath, when he entered the synagogue and taught, a man was there whose right hand was withered. 7 And the scribes and the Pharisees watched him, to see whether he would heal on the sabbath, so that they might find an accusation against him. 8 But he knew their thoughts, and he said to the man who had the withered hand, "Come and stand here." And he rose and stood there. 9 And Jesus said to them, "I ask you, is it lawful on the sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to destroy it?" 10 And he looked around on them all, and said to him, "Stretch out your hand." And he did so, and his hand was restored. 11 But they were filled with fury and discussed with one another what they might do to Jesus.

Readings & Prayer (Wednesday’s) – Conquering the tongue is better than fasting on bread and water!!

September 10, 2007

When: Sunday, September 09, 2007 10:30 PM-11:00 PM.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Dear Lord God, I have not yet conquered my anger and tongue; but this day I put my trust in You and prayed that Your will be done. Thank you Lord for Your mercy and grace, I know I am not worthy, but because You have chosen me, I will die and rise a thousand times to be molded by You, for You are the Potter and I the clay. In Jesus name I ask and pray that You would continue Your work in me, and that I might be a light on the hill that leads to You, Amen.

Conquering the tongue is better than fasting on bread and water!!
— St. John of the Cross

9 And so, from the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 to lead a life worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. 11 May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. 13 He has delivered us from the dominion of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Psalm 98:2-6
2 The LORD has made known his victory, he has revealed his vindication in the sight of the nations. 3 He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God. 4 Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises! 5 Sing praises to the LORD with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody! 6 With trumpets and the sound of the horn make a joyful noise before the King, the LORD!

Luke 5:1-11
1 While the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he was standing by the lake of Gennes’aret. 2 And he saw two boats by the lake; but the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. 3 Getting into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, he asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the people from the boat. 4 And when he had ceased speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch." 5 And Simon answered, "Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets." 6 And when they had done this, they enclosed a great shoal of fish; and as their nets were breaking, 7 they beckoned to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. 8 But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, "Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord." 9 For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the catch of fish which they had taken; 10 and so also were James and John, sons of Zeb’edee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, "Do not be afraid; henceforth you will be catching men." 11 And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed him.

Readings & Prayer – Who has learned thy counsel, unless thou hast given wisdom and sent thy holy Spirit from on high? So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.

Dear Lord God, I believe! But when I weigh and measure myself I find I come up short. And even as I think I continue to know You more, or at least spend more time trying to get to know You. I continue to stumble and in doing so see how far short I have fallen. My prayer and hope is that through Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior I fall forward towards You. Today’s readings talk about Wisdom.  As You know I have recently read the book after listening to the audio version several times about the Aramaic words spoken by Jesus. While I open my mind while I listen and read to such writings, and realize the abuses and horrors that have been served in Your name and in the name of Jesus Christ, I remain true to the belief that You are the One God, the I am, the Source of Source, the God of Abraham and Mohammed, the Father of Jesus Christ who is One with You and whom through the Holy Spirit resides in the heart of all human beings to remind us and help us find our way to You as spiritual beings. And while I seek to know You more, I may never really know You while in human form, while I want to feel closer this human body, may never let me. So I must continue to seek, to practice Your presence, always accepted that the mystery is just that and I cannot understanding, I just have to believe. So today I ask You in Jesus name and for the sake of His sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world, Amen.

What do you possess if you possess not God?
— St. Augustine

13 For what man can learn the counsel of God? Or who can discern what the Lord wills? 14 For the reasoning of mortals is worthless, and our designs are likely to fail, 15 for a perishable body weighs down the soul, and this earthy tent burdens the thoughtful mind. 16 We can hardly guess at what is on earth, and what is at hand we find with labor; but who has traced out what is in the heavens? 17 Who has learned thy counsel, unless thou hast given wisdom and sent thy holy Spirit from on high? 18 And thus the paths of those on earth were set right, and men were taught what pleases thee, and were saved by wisdom."

Psalm 90:3-6, 12-13, 14-17
3 Thou turnest man back to the dust, and sayest, "Turn back, O children of men!" 4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a watch in the night. 5 Thou dost sweep men away; they are like a dream, like grass which is renewed in the morning: 6 in the morning it flourishes and is renewed; in the evening it fades and withers. 12 So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom. 13 Return, O LORD! How long? Have pity on thy servants! 14 Satisfy us in the morning with thy steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. 15 Make us glad as many days as thou hast afflicted us, and as many years as we have seen evil. 16 Let thy work be manifest to thy servants, and thy glorious power to their children. 17 Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish thou the work of our hands upon us, yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.

Philemon 9-10, 12-17
9 yet for love’s sake I prefer to appeal to you — I, Paul, an ambassador and now a prisoner also for Christ Jesus — 10 I appeal to you for my child, Ones’imus, whose father I have become in my imprisonment. 12 I am sending him back to you, sending my very heart. 13 I would have been glad to keep him with me, in order that he might serve me on your behalf during my imprisonment for the gospel; 14 but I preferred to do nothing without your consent in order that your goodness might not be by compulsion but of your own free will. 15 Perhaps this is why he was parted from you for a while, that you might have him back for ever, 16 no longer as a slave but more than a slave, as a beloved brother, especially to me but how much more to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord. 17 So if you consider me your partner, receive him as you would receive me.

Luke 14:25-33
25 Now great multitudes accompanied him; and he turned and said to them, 26 "If any one comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. 27 Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me, cannot be my disciple. 28 For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? 29 Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 30 saying, `This man began to build, and was not able to finish.’ 31 Or what king, going to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and take counsel whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? 32 And if not, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends an embassy and asks terms of peace. 33 So therefore, whoever of you does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.

Prayer & Readings – For the Lord is gracious and merciful …. Patient and generous in his mercy, he does not give in to human impatience

Dear Lord God, I look back at the last forty eight hours with regret and disappointment; regret for the lost opportunity and disappointment in the lack of love and understanding, if not tolerance I have shown. How easily I let the same things upset and anger me over and over. Why do I expect others to change, it is I that must become ripe. Why to I allow myself to become discouraged over the same things. Clearly in my listening and being I expose myself to these things without being ready and prepared to be separate from being; to be present while being in the now; to be understanding while being in the now; to be compassionate while being in the now. For in the now I am not affected by the past; in the now I am not trying to change what has already happened; in the now I am not stopped from loving for what tomorrow may or may not bring. For it is in the now with You that I can create, empower and be abundant in faith, hope and love. O Lord that you would keep me in the now, and separate me as far as the east is from the west from yesterday while teaching me to use what I see in the now with You to develop and maintain eyes of faith for tomorrow. O Lord forgive my stubborn mind and  hard heart. For the sake of My Lord Jesus’ sorrowful passion have mercy on me and on my love ones, Amen.

For the Lord is gracious and merciful and prefers the conversion of a sinner rather than his death. Patient and generous in his mercy, he does not give in to human impatience but is willing to wait a long time for our repentance. – St. Jerome

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation; 16 for in him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or authorities — all things were created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 He is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning, the first-born from the dead, that in everything he might be pre-eminent. 19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.

Psalm 100:2-5
2 Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! 3 Know that the LORD is God! It is he that made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him, bless his name! 5 For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures for ever, and his faithfulness to all generations.
Luke 5:33-39
33 And they said to him, "The disciples of John fast often and offer prayers, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours eat and drink." 34 And Jesus said to them, "Can you make wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? 35 The days will come, when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast in those days." 36 He told them a parable also: "No one tears a piece from a new garment and puts it upon an old garment; if he does, he will tear the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old. 37 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; if he does, the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed. 38 But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins. 39 And no one after drinking old wine desires new; for he says, `The old is good.’"
