Words written in red; Words of Jesus
Then the disciples of John came to him, saying, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?" And Jesus said to them, "Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? The days will come, when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast. And no one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch tears away from the garment, and a worse tear is made. Neither is new wine put into old wineskins; if it is, the skins burst, and the wine is spilled, and the skins are destroyed; but new wine is put into fresh wineskins, and so both are preserved."

Matthew 9: 14 – 17

Whoever aspires to perfection must beware of saying," I was right. They did that to me without reason." If you are not willing to bear any cross which is given you not according to reason, perfection is not for you..
— St. Teresa of Avila

Abba, Father, Lord God, thankful for yesterday, grateful for today, I ask and pray that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, let Your hand be with me and mine to keep us from evil and from causing pain. Guide us through the days to come, protect us, touch our hearts with the blessings within this day, the moment we are in, free from yesterday and all of its chains, hurts and pains; aware that one moment with You is better than a thousand without You. In and with faith help us to not to lose today in yesterday, but with and in hope find promise for tomorrow today, and let love, unconditional love be the image of Jesus we become and reflect to light the way for us all to see what we are in and with You. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Audio books I am listening to and other books or readings I am reading:
The Art of Presence By: Eckhart Tolle In The Art of Presence, Eckhart guides you through seven hours of transformational insights that allow "presence to naturally arise" in you. With his one-of-a-kind instruction, you will learn how to ground yourself in the vibrancy of your "inner body" while simultaneously breaking free from the illusion of separation from the outside world.
The Brain That Changes Itself: Personal Triumphs from the Frontiers of Brain Science (Unabridged) By: Norman Doidge The discovery that our thoughts can change the structure and function of our brains – even into old age – is the most important breakthrough in neuroscience in four centuries.
The Shack Mackenzie Allen Philips’ youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack’s world forever. In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant "The Shack" wrestles with the timeless question, "Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?" The answers Mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him. You’ll want everyone you know to read this book!

Words written in red; Words of Jesus
"When the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate them one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, and he will place the sheep at his right hand, but the goats at the left. Then the King will say to those at his right hand, `Come, O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, `Lord, when did we see thee hungry and feed thee, or thirsty and give thee drink? And when did we see thee a stranger and welcome thee, or naked and clothe thee? And when did we see thee sick or in prison and visit thee?’ And the King will answer them, `Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.’ Then he will say to those at his left hand, `Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ Then they also will answer, `Lord, when did we see thee hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to thee?’ Then he will answer them, `Truly, I say to you, as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me.’ And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

Matthew 25: 31 – 46

And to think that for the satisfaction of a single moment of sin, which left bitter dregs within you, you’ve lost "the way"!
— St. Josemaria Escriva

Abba, Father, Lord God, thank You Lord for Your blessings that I count each day and for this day. For as I write to You I know You are at work in me, I feel Your presence, I know that is You getting my attention through the Spirit and then in Your Word. For as Isaiah proclaims in today’s first reading ‘is not this the fast that I choose: to lose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the thongs of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?‘ It is! Then I must run the race, be ready for the fights, and practice Your presence in every moment, for this morning I am blessed in that You were able to get my attention before I ran down the wrong path worn out by my old ways, what I have been, my human nature whose source is self; and thus I can come to You as who I am, what I can be, in my spirit whose source is You. O that You would continue to bless me indeed and those I love so dearly and who with Jesus are the reason I ‘choose’, let Your hand be with me today and in coming days with my love ones as we travel and visit with each other, enlarge my territory, keeping me from evil and from causing any pain. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Words written in red; Words of Jesus
Now Thomas, one of the twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them, "Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails, and place my finger in the mark of the nails, and place my hand in his side, I will not believe." Eight days later, his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. The doors were shut, but Jesus came and stood among them, and said, "Peace be with you." Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side; do not be faithless, but believing." Thomas answered him, "My Lord and my God!" Jesus said to him, "Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe."

John 20: 24 – 29

Look what God is doing with nothing. People must believe that it is all his, all his. We must allow God to use us, without adding or subtracting anything.

Abba, Father, Lord God, I count myself blessed in so many ways, especially when I feel the ones I love notice Your work within me. For next to You, Jesus and the Holy Spirit I seek to be for them all that they need me to be and available to be it. And while there are many times when I lose what I am in myself as I have been, I know the Spirit is there telling and reminding me of what Jesus has taught and revealed to me about myself, You and the Trinity. So even in my strife I can find reassurance if I stay connected and available to You. This is such a blessed process and I am ever thankful that You would love me enough to be there with what I need and always available when I need it to show me how I must be. O that You would bless me and my love ones over there next few weeks as we travel and look forward to being together, that You hand would be with each of us to enlarge our territory, keep us from evil and causing pain. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Words written in red; Words of Jesus
3  And he stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, "I will; be clean." And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

13  And to the centurion Jesus said, "Go; be it done for you as you have believed." And the servant was healed at that very moment.
14  And when Jesus entered Peter’s house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever;  15  he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and served him.
22  But Jesus said to him, "Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead."
26  And he said to them, "Why are you afraid, O men of little faith?" Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
32  And he said to them, "Go." So they came out and went into the swine; and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and perished in the waters.
34  And behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus; and when they saw him, they begged him to leave their neighborhood.
Matthew 8

It is true that God’s power triumphs over everything, but humble and suffering prayer prevails over God Himself.
— St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina

Abba, Father, Lord God, I count every blessing and give thanks; I walk knowing You are with me, my source of source. Yet I know my nature is weak in its desire to satisfy its self serving ways. I come to You each morning knowing I am not worthy, but be it for the passion of Jesus; I come to You each morning knowing I will be convicted, shamed and embarrassed by and in myself because I know in Jesus I can capture and become what You meant me to be, Your image, the image of Jesus I come. I do not wish to be what I have been or as the people of the city of Gadarenes in today’s Gospel, asking Jesus to leave their neighborhood whatever the reason; be it fear of His Divine Power, inability and or lack of understanding of what they had witnessed as "He took our infirmities and bore our diseases", or the fact that they could not bear the same conviction, shame of embarrassment that I myself often feel during this time before You. For what I seek is Jesus image and I struggle with myself and fight the ways under the sun knowing that all I am and all I can be is in Jesus, for without Jesus I am nothing but that person that is shamed and embarrassed in and by myself. So knowing and believing that I must first workout that which prevents me from reflecting Jesus image I keep coming to You, humbled in and suffering with myself, but full of faith, seeking hope and trying to love, asking You to have mercy on me – O Lord God for the sake of His sorrowful passion, have mercy on me and on the whole world. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Words written in red; Words of Jesus
And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him, saying, "Save, Lord; we are perishing." And he said to them, "Why are you afraid, O men of little faith?" Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. And the men marveled, saying, "What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?"

Matthew 8: 23 – 27

The ignorance of some is greatly to be pitied, who load themselves with unwise penances of their devising, putting all their confidence in them, and expecting to become saints by their means. If they would put half of this labor upon mortifying their appetites and their passions, they would gain more in a month than by all their own exercises in many years.
— St. John of the Cross

Abba, Father, Lord God, thankful and aware I seek clarity, I look for change, I ask for Your help, and I pray for Your presence. Clarity to see through Jesus’ eyes, change to reflect His image from within me, help in discerning each moment with His heart, and the presence of You through Him in the Holy Spirit. I do not wish to create an image of You or belief in You that is not true; for what good or what would that prove. I do ask and pray that You would mold me into that which You intended me to be, according to Your will and for Your purpose. That You would use this time to show and teach me in Your ways, tuning my ear, focusing my eyes, likening my heart to that of Jesus. For I feel, know and accept my nature, but I feel, know and accept my source is You. So my faith is in Jesus, my hope is with the Spirit, and my love is for You; that You will finish the work You have begun in me, and that each day You will guide and provide me with what I need for that day, and the mercy and grace to get me through it. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Words written in red; Words of Jesus
Now when Jesus saw great crowds around him, he gave orders to go over to the other side. And a scribe came up and said to him, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go." And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head." Another of the disciples said to him, "Lord, let me first go and bury my father." But Jesus said to him, "Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead."

Matthew 8: 18 – 22

The Transfiguration is not only the revelation of Christ’s glory but also a preparation for facing Christ’s cross. It involves both "going up the mountain" and "coming down the mountain." The disciples who have enjoyed this intimacy with the Master, surrounded by the splendor of the Trinitarian life, "…are immediately brought back to daily reality, where they see ‘Jesus only,’ in the lowliness of his human nature."
— Pope John Paul II

Abba, Father, Lord God, always thankful and grateful, I struggle in confusion trying to separate right from wrong, faith from fear, hope from despair, and unconditional love from conditional love. Help me Father, liken my heart to Jesus and guide my thoughts, and direct my words and actions; strengthen and energize me for the work at hand. Bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, keeping me from evil and from causing pain. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

And he said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover." So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the signs that attended it. Amen.

Mark 16: 15 – 20
