they may welcome me into their homes.’
He called in his master’s debtors one by one.
To the first he said, ‘How much do you owe my master?’
He replied, ‘One hundred measures of olive oil.’
He said to him, ‘Here is your promissory note.
Sit down and quickly write one for fifty.’
Then to another he said, ‘And you, how much do you owe?’

write one for eighty.’
And the master commended that dishonest steward for acting prudently.

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
My eternal Lord, help me to keep my eyes on Heaven. Help me to be one who is wise in the ways of grace, mercy and goodness. When I am tempted to live only for this world, help me to see what is of true value and stay focused on that alone.

Lord You know me, my thoughts, my heart. You have blessed me beyond measure. I have been humbled by the world and the error of my ways. As I count my blessings, I can’t help but think what could’ve been if I started following You sooner. But then how would what I am and have today have changed. So I fight to stay focused on today, and You. Your will, Your ways. After all I am blessed beyond measure.
Continue to walk with me and mine. Teaching and guiding us. Protecting and using us. Listening to our prayers.
As I continue to lift up all of mine that have passed on to You.

would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert
and go after the lost one until he finds it?
And when he does find it,
he sets it on his shoulders with great joy
and, upon his arrival home,
he calls together his friends and neighbors and says to them,
‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ 
I tell you, in just the same way
there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents
than over ninety-nine righteous people
who have no need of repentance.
“Or what woman having ten coins and losing one
would not light a lamp and sweep the house,
searching carefully until she finds it?
And when she does find it,

‘Rejoice with me because I have found the coin that I lost.’

Lord You call me when I was lost. You rescued me from myself. You answered my mother’s prayers. Hear me now as I pray for mine and those lost as I was.
Lord of mercy, help me when I feel like being harsh and judgmental. Help me to turn an eye of compassion toward the sinner, seeing the goodness You put in their souls before seeing their sinful actions. Help me to leave judgment to You and embrace mercy instead.

Formed: A Time for Prayer

On All Souls’ Day, we remember all those who have gone before us. However, not only are we called to do this today, but the Church dedicates the entire month of November to the Holy Souls in Purgatory. Make a list of people who have passed away and pray for them today and the rest of the month.

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
Lord, I pray for those souls going through their final purification in Purgatory. Please pour forth Your mercy upon them so that they may be freed of all attachment to sin and, thus, be prepared to see You face to face.
While there is so much I still don’t know or understand, I seek truth. I study the history of the Church, Bible, Popes to deepen my knowledge and beliefs, but have more questions. One thing I know is Jesus is my Lord and Savior. And in Him I believe in You and the Holy Spirit in me and mine. So I keep praying for mine and those You place in my path. And all of mine that have passed on to You.

I, John, saw another angel come up from the East,
holding the seal of the living God.
He cried out in a loud voice to the four angels
who were given power to damage the land and the sea,
“Do not damage the land or the sea or the trees
until we put the seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.”
I heard the number of those who had been marked with the seal,
one hundred and forty-four thousand marked
from every tribe of the children of Israel.
After this I had a vision of a great multitude,
which no one could count,

Reading 1 Wisdom 11:22-12:2

Before the LORD the whole universe is as a grain from a balance
or a drop of morning dew come down upon the earth.
But you have mercy on all, because you can do all things;

but he could not see him because of the crowd,

So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree in order to see Jesus,
who was about to pass that way.
When he reached the place, Jesus looked up and said,
"Zacchaeus, come down quickly,
for today I must stay at your house."
And he came down quickly and received him with joy.
When they all saw this, they began to grumble, saying,
"He has gone to stay at the house of a sinner."
But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord,
"Behold, half of my possessions, Lord, I shall give to the poor,
and if I have extorted anything from anyone
I shall repay it four times over."
And Jesus said to him,
"Today salvation has come to this house
because this man too is a descendant of Abraham.
For the Son of Man has come to seek
and to save what was lost."

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
Such a blessing when You let’s me feel Your presence and shows me Your mercy. It’s in those times with I get down on myself and begin to feel overwhelmed by my past sinfulness, that You lift me up and let me know You forgive me. Thank You Lord, I’m sorry, forgive me, I love You.
Lord, I desire to choose You above all things. May I never be drawn to the things of this world more than I am drawn to You. Increase my desire for You and give me the courage I need to be faithful to You always. I love You, dear Lord. Please increase my love. Jesus, I trust in You.

Reading 1 Philippians 1:18B-26

Brothers and sisters:
As long as in every way, whether in pretense or in truth,
Christ is being proclaimed, and in that I rejoice.
Indeed I shall continue to rejoice,
for I know that this will result in deliverance for me
through your prayers and support from the Spirit of Jesus Christ.
My eager expectation and hope
is that I shall not be put to shame in any way,
but that with all boldness, now as always,
Christ will be magnified in my body,
whether by life or by death.
For to me life is Christ, and death is gain.
If I go on living in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me.
And I do not know which I shall choose.
I am caught between the two.

On a sabbath Jesus went to dine
at the home of one of the leading Pharisees,
and the people there were observing him carefully.
He told a parable to those who had been invited,
noticing how they were choosing the places of honor at the table.
“When you are invited by someone to a wedding banquet,
do not recline at table in the place of honor.
A more distinguished guest than you may have been invited by him,
and the host who invited both of you may approach you and say,
‘Give your place to this man,’
and then you would proceed with embarrassment
to take the lowest place.
Rather, when you are invited, 
go and take the lowest place
so that when the host comes to you he may say,
‘My friend, move up to a higher position.’
Then you will enjoy the esteem of your companions at the table.
For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled,
but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Why do we exalt ourselves? We hold ourselves above everyone else when we seek glory or have an inflated sense of self. The Gospel contrasts this today when Jesus reveals that we must humble ourselves to be exalted.

Love the readings and reflections today Lord. A reminder for our time. Who is our audience You or _? In a world where technology and social media makes it easy to fill in the blank. One can find an audience for whatever they want to be, do or say. We must practice Your presence in every moment, and protect our hearts and minds by focusing our attention on You and You alone. And through a one walk with Jesus, avoid the distractions that fight for our attention. For we are under attack, and we will be tempted.
Lord of Truth, please make me and mine humble. Strip away all pride our my life so that we can turn to You and Your will alone. Help us to have concern only for the Truth that You establish and to use that as the only measure of our souls.
Praying without ceasing, hear my prayer.
Continue to protect and bless me and mine. Teach and guide us.

Jesus I trust in You!
