On a sabbath Jesus went to dine
at the home of one of the leading Pharisees,

He told a parable to those who had been invited,
noticing how they were choosing the places of honor at the table.
“When you are invited by someone to a wedding banquet,
do not recline at table in the place of honor.
A more distinguished guest than you may have been invited by him,
and the host who invited both of you may approach you and say,
‘Give your place to this man,’
and then you would proceed with embarrassment
to take the lowest place.
Rather, when you are invited,
go and take the lowest place
so that when the host comes to you he may say,
‘My friend, move up to a higher position.’
Then you will enjoy the esteem of your companions at the table.
For every one who exalts himself will be humbled,
but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Let me walk in conscious awareness of You as my source of source. Acknowledging in every moment that all I have and can be is a gift from You. Never forgetting that I am nothing without You.
Thank You for helping see and understand this truth. Oh that You will continue to walk with me and mine. Blessing and protecting us. Teaching and guiding us. Yoked to You and You alone.

Consider your own calling, brothers and sisters.

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
Powerful readings today Lord. How appropriate for the Today is Memorial of St. Monica, mother of St. Augustine. When I hear the name St. Monica, I think of Mom, and all the years she prayed for me, and each of you. So I know God hears our prayers, and has a plan for each of us. We need to pray and trust! God Give Us Your Courage. Believe in the power of prayer and pray without ceasing.

‘The Deep Prayer of our Heart!!
"Then the child will read all the treasures of grace, solicitude, & tenderness enclosed in the heart of his Mother. He will know that, next to God, it was the Tears, Prayers, & sighs of that Mother which brought about his salvation! "O Mother," he will exclaim, "I used to love you because you gave me an earthly life, & provided for my food & my childhood needs; now I love you a 1,000xs more Tenderly, because of the Eternal Life I have received!! O new & happy Monica’s, how great your Triumphs & Joys will be, when you see yourselves surrounded by a whole circle of children whose glory you have secured after having brought them into existence! Reading 1 1 Corinthians 1:17-25

Brothers and sisters: Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the Gospel, and not with the wisdom of human eloquence, so that the cross of Christ might not be emptied of its meaning.
The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the learning of the learned I will set aside. Where is the wise one? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made the wisdom of the world foolish? For since in the wisdom of God the world did not come to know God through wisdom, it was the will of God through the foolishness of the proclamation to save those who have faith. For Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we proclaim Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those who are called, Jews and Greeks alike, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

Jesus told his disciples this parable: “The Kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.  Five of them were foolish and five were wise.  The foolish ones, when taking their lamps, brought no oil with them, but the wise brought flasks of oil with their lamps.  Since the bridegroom was long delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep. At midnight, there was a cry, ‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’  Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps.  The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’  But the wise ones replied, ‘No, for there may not be enough for us and you. Go instead to the merchants and buy some for yourselves.’  While they went off to buy it, the bridegroom came and those who were ready went into the wedding feast with him.  Then the door was locked. Afterwards the other virgins came and said, ‘Lord, Lord, open the door for us!’  But he said in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, I do not know you.’  Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.”

Formed: Keep Your Lamp Lit

Conversion is brought about not through man’s wisdom but God’s wisdom. This wisdom, however, is his radical love, displayed most beautifully in Christ’s embrace of the Cross. Proclaim this love to the world, allowing it to convict others of God’s love.

Keeping my lamp lit! Is about making Jesus my source of source. Looking to Him first in all circumstances and with all things. Realizing He is always with you. But I have to keep my eyes on Him. My thoughts about Him. Letting His light shine through in my what I say and do.
Thank You Jesus for walking with me and mine. For teaching Your ways. Loving us enough. Oh that You would continue to bless and protect us.

St. Paul exhorts us to hold true to the Tradition of the Church. Scripture is clear that it is not the only source of authority. It instead reminds us of the authority of the apostles and their teaching—the Tradition of the Church. These two founts, Scripture and Tradition, communicate to us the Word of God.

Help us hold fast and stand firm to the Traditions we were taught and You share with us through Your Word and the Good Shepherds like Dr. Gray at AI, through his daily Formed reflections.

Continue to teach and guide me and mine in Your Traditions as You walk with us. I continue to pray for Your blessings and protection. And the wisdom to know the difference between tradition and Tradition, and the strength and courage to hold fast and stand firm.
