Reading I Baruch 5:1-9

Jerusalem, take off your robe of mourning and misery;
put on the splendor of glory from God forever:

the peace of justice, the glory of God’s worship.

Gospel Luke 3:1-6

In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar,
when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea,
and Herod was tetrarch of Galilee,
and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region
of Ituraea and Trachonitis,
and Lysanias was tetrarch of Abilene,
during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas,
the word of God came to John the son of Zechariah in the desert.
John went throughout the whole region of the Jordan,
proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins,
as it is written in the book of the words of the prophet Isaiah:
A voice of one crying out in the desert:  “Prepare the way of the Lord,  make straight his paths.  Every valley shall be filled  and every mountain and hill shall be made low.  The winding roads shall be made straight,  and the rough ways made smooth,  and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.”

Formed: Second Sunday of Advent

Despite Israel’s exile, Baruch prophesies that God’s chosen people will be re-gathered one day. The arrival of that day is indicated by the ministry of John the Baptist. He points to Christ’s regathering, in which the true exile—the spiritual exile—finally ends. Through Jesus, man is reconciled with God.

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
Powerful readings today, which Dr. Gray brings together and to the point with today’s action item. ‘Following the call of John the Baptist and confess our sins.’ For me this isn’t just going to confession, but a true awakening, repentance and change to how I live my life in the constant presence of Jesus. One Walk with Jesus. No excuses, no rationalizing away my thoughts, words or actions. This requires acceptance of my fallen nature, accepting responsibility for my sins, and practicing His presence… always!
Thank You for hearing my prayers Lord. For me, mine and theirs. Prayers for protection and blessings and a closer walk with You, always in Your presence. I’m sorry, forgive me, I love You.
Not my will, but Yours Lord God.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls.
In Jesus name I pray.

O people of Zion, who dwell in Jerusalem,
no more will you weep;

and the water for which you thirst.

Formed: No Longer Hidden

In the words of the prophet Isaiah are contained many oracles of hope and restoration. In Jesus, these prophetic words find their fulfillment. In Christ, Israel’s teacher, God, is no longer hidden but walks among us and eats with us. Give God the praise that is due to him, honoring him for the gift of the Incarnation.

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
I cry out to You… keep teaching me Lord as I practice Your presence. And let that presence be visible to those You put in my path.
‘The harvest is as abundant as ever, and the laborers still few; so I pray that me, mine and theirs will each ask You Lord our master of the harvest to show each of us how to be laborers for Your harvest.’

Thank You for walking with me, mine and theirs. For protecting and blessing each of us. Let us count each blessing, humbly realizing that everything we have is a gift from You. Starting with our spiritual gifts and talents. Help us stay humble and grateful.
Not our will, but Yours Lord God.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls.
In Jesus name I pray.

Then he touched their eyes and said,
“Let it be done for you according to your faith.”
And their eyes were opened.
Jesus warned them sternly,
“See that no one knows about this.”
But they went out and spread word of him through all that land.

Formed: The Blind See

In the Book of Isaiah, the Lord gives a word of hope to Israel amidst their trials. In the Gospel, two blind men call out to Jesus, addressing him as Son of David. Looking to him as Messiah, Jesus fulfills the word of hope from Isaiah, giving them their sight.

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
Like the blind men in today’s Gospel, I cry out “Son of David, have pity on us!”. Not our will, but Yours Lord God.
We (I) like Israel have ignored and disobeyed You for far to long. Allowing ourselves and worse our children and their children to grow up without You.
Now we are awakened by a country and culture that is as disobedient as Israel ever was, with harden hearts. Our children don’t know You like they should, and they are surrounded by evil that only seeks to keep them from knowing You and Your truths.
So I cry out in prayer… let’s us not turn away from You again out of fear, but face the challenges before us with the faith of the blind men. Knowing You can do whatever You want to do, if we have faith and trust in Your will by being ready to answer Your voice as You speak, guide and direct us.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls.
In Jesus name I pray.

Formed: Firm Foundations

For the Israelite people, God was their rock, providing a firm foundation for their hope and trust in him. In the Gospel, Jesus claims that those who hear his words and do them are like a wise man who builds on a rock. Trust in Jesus’ words and promises to you, knowing that he is faithful and trustworthy.

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
I say Your name many times each day… help me Jesus, hear my prayer Jesus, protect and bless mine Jesus. Because there is something about the many of Jesus that is reassuring, comforting, strengthening.

So I start each day crying out Holy Mother pray for each of mine and theirs… prayers of protection and blessings. Jesus hear my prayers for me, mine and theirs.
Thank You for walking and hearing me.
Keep me surrounded in Your Word.
Not my will, but Yours Lord God.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls.

Protect us as we walk as sheep among wolves. Bless us as we resist those seeking to remove You from our society and culture. Give us what we need to persevere.

Reading I Romans 10:9-18

Brothers and sisters:
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord
and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead,
you will be saved.

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.
How powerful are the words spoken by the centurion in yesterday’s Gospel. Words we speak at communion. Words we need to speak and pray each morning. Inviting Jesus into our walk. Sharing everything with Him so we can then share our experience with others. Staring with each of mine and each of theirs, and all those He puts in our path. So this is my prayer today and every day.
‘ Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.’
Thank You for hearing my prayer. Continue to protect and bless me, mine and theirs. Help me to be a fisher of men.

Formed: All the Nations Come to the Lord

Today we hear the astonishing prophecy of Isaiah that all the nations shall stream to the Lord. May we reflect on the fulfillment of this prophecy in Jesus Christ and marvel at his gospel which has spread throughout all the world.

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
Awakened and shaken by my dream I cry out to You. Seeking Your words of comfort and peace. The feeling of Your presence, which assures me everything will be ok. For You are with me, mine and theirs. Yet I am reminded how easily one can fall victim to anxiety and fear over regrets of the past and concerns for the future. So I pray and listen, pray and listen. Knowing You will meet me in the midst of my anxiety and fear, and take hold of my hand to comfort me and calm me down so I can rest in the peace of Your presence.
Thank You for always being there for me, mine and theirs. While there are days where we have buried ourselves so deep in our fears and concerns that we can barely breath. You free us from ourselves, by helping get our focus back on You.

Awakened by the new day, I feel a great urgency to pray for me, mine and theirs, and anyone awakened by their anxiety and fears. So I begin the new days in Your word and in prayer. Praying without ceasing, knowing You are with us.
Not my will, but Yours Lord God.
