When King Herod heard this,
he was greatly troubled,
and all Jerusalem with him.
Assembling all the chief priests and the scribes of the people,
He inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.
They said to him, "In Bethlehem of Judea,
for thus it has been written through the prophet:
And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah,
are by no means least among the rulers of Judah;
since from you shall come a ruler,
who is to shepherd my people Israel."
Then Herod called the magi secretly
and ascertained from them the time of the star’s appearance.
He sent them to Bethlehem and said,
"Go and search diligently for the child.
When you have found him, bring me word,
that I too may go and do him homage."
After their audience with the king they set out.
And behold, the star that they had seen at its rising preceded them,
until it came and stopped over the place where the child was.
They were overjoyed at seeing the star,
and on entering the house
they saw the child with Mary his mother.
They prostrated themselves and did him homage.
Then they opened their treasures
and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod,
they departed for their country by another way.

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me. Thank You for letting Your light shine on me and mine, and theirs. My prayer for us is that You continue to walk with us this new year. Guiding us and convicting us as we seek to walk as one with You. Amidst the chaos, evil, lies and busyness light our path. Give us a discerning ear, eye and heart for Your truths, Your way. Let us never become slothful in pursuit Your presence.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls.

Reading I – 1 John 2:22-28

Beloved:
Who is the liar?
Whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ.
Whoever denies the Father and the Son, this is the antichrist.
Anyone who denies the Son does not have the Father,
but whoever confesses the Son has the Father as well.
Let what you heard from the beginning remain in you.
If what you heard from the beginning remains in you,
then you will remain in the Son and in the Father.
And this is the promise that he made us: eternal life.
I write you these things about those who would deceive you.
As for you,
the anointing that you received from him remains in you,
so that you do not need anyone to teach you.
But his anointing teaches you about everything and is true and not false;

Gospel John 1:19-28

This is the testimony of John.
When the Jews from Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to him
to ask him, “Who are you?”
He admitted and did not deny it, but admitted,
“I am not the Christ.”
So they asked him,
“What are you then? Are you Elijah?”
And he said, “I am not.”
“Are you the Prophet?”
He answered, “No.”
So they said to him,
“Who are you, so we can give an answer to those who sent us?
What do you have to say for yourself?”
He said:
“I am the voice of one crying out in the desert,
‘Make straight the way of the Lord,’
as Isaiah the prophet said.”
Some Pharisees were also sent.
They asked him,
“Why then do you baptize
if you are not the Christ or Elijah or the Prophet?”
John answered them,
“I baptize with water;
but there is one among you whom you do not recognize,
the one who is coming after me,
whose sandal strap I am not worthy to untie.”
This happened in Bethany across the Jordan,
where John was baptizing.

Jesus comes to us in others. Do you recognize Him? How do you prepare yourself for Christ? Follow the lead of Saint John the Baptist and confess your sins, turning in repentance to the Lord.

Look for Christ in others today.

Brothers and sisters:
When the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son,

Gospel John 1:1-18

In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
He was in the beginning with God.
All things came to be through him,
and without him nothing came to be.
What came to be through him was life,
and this life was the light of the human race;
the light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness has not overcome it.
A man named John was sent from God.
He came for testimony, to testify to the light,
so that all might believe through him.
He was not the light,
but came to testify to the light.
The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.
He was in the world,
and the world came to be through him,
but the world did not know him.
He came to what was his own,
but his own people did not accept him.
But to those who did accept him
he gave power to become children of God,
to those who believe in his name,
who were born not by natural generation
nor by human choice nor by a man’s decision
but of God.
And the Word became flesh
and made his dwelling among us,
and we saw his glory,
the glory as of the Father’s only-begotten Son,
full of grace and truth.
John testified to him and cried out, saying,
“This was he of whom I said,
‘The one who is coming after me ranks ahead of me
because he existed before me.’”
From his fullness we have all received,
grace in place of grace,
because while the law was given through Moses,
grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
No one has ever seen God.
The only-begotten Son, God, who is at the Father’s side,
has revealed him.

The Word Was Made Flesh

Jesus comes to reveal the Father. Today, take in the beauty of Christmas and think on the humility and love of God. Let your hearts be inspired by Him

Today’s Action Item:
Meditate before the manger.

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me. Thank You! You teach me Your ways, and in showing me the light, encourage me to walk in the light. To walk as one with Jesus. Today’s Gospel of John is a beautiful revelation that we should all take time to meditate on. With the setting of the manger as a back drop. Think about the truth one can find and see when they look at their life through the story of Christmas, from cradle to cross. Your love for us shouts out to us… ‘come to Me, all of you who are tired and weary and I will give you rest.’
My prayer today is that today’s Gospel will light the hearts of those that read this post, and awaken the Holy Spirit within them. To seek and follow Jesus. So do I pray for me and mine, and theirs as one year ends and another begins. That You will continue to bless and protect us, revealing to us more of Your mysteries and truth.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls.
In Jesus name I pray.

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me. I open my heart in thankful gratitude for all Your blessings. For all the times You were with me and mine, even when I wasn’t with You. You taught me to trust in Your providential testimony.
So now I pray that You would use me to light the way for others to learn to do the same. For we are not of this world, yet the world lies and tricks us into desiring it’s way over Yours. But through Jesus our eyes, ears and heart can be opened to Your truth.

Beloved:
The way we may be sure that we know Jesus
is to keep his commandments.
Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not keep his commandments
is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
But whoever keeps his word,
the love of God is truly perfected in him.
This is the way we may know that we are in union with him:
whoever claims to abide in him ought to walk just as he walked.
Beloved, I am writing no new commandment to you
but an old commandment that you had from the beginning.
The old commandment is the word that you have heard.
And yet I do write a new commandment to you,
which holds true in him and among you,
for the darkness is passing away,
and the true light is already shining.
Whoever says he is in the light,
yet hates his brother, is still in the darkness.
Whoever loves his brother remains in the light,
and there is nothing in him to cause a fall.
Whoever hates his brother is in darkness;
he walks in darkness
and does not know where he is going
because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

When the days were completed for their purification
according to the law of Moses,
the parents of Jesus took him up to Jerusalem
to present him to the Lord,
just as it is written in the law of the Lord,
Every male that opens the womb shall be consecrated to the Lord,
and to offer the sacrifice of
a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons,
in accordance with the dictate in the law of the Lord.
Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon.
This man was righteous and devout,
awaiting the consolation of Israel,
and the Holy Spirit was upon him.
It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit
that he should not see death
before he had seen the Christ of the Lord.
He came in the Spirit into the temple;
and when the parents brought in the child Jesus
to perform the custom of the law in regard to him,
he took him into his arms and blessed God, saying:
“Lord, now let your servant go in peace;
your word has been fulfilled:
my own eyes have seen the salvation
which you prepared in the sight of every people,
a light to reveal you to the nations
and the glory of your people Israel.”
The child’s father and mother were amazed at what was said about him;
and Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother,
“Behold, this child is destined
for the fall and rise of many in Israel,
and to be a sign that will be contradicted
(and you yourself a sword will pierce)
so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”

Be a Light to the Nations

Exult in the Lord because He has revealed Himself to us in Jesus Christ. You are a part of those nations that have come to know Christ, the Son of God.

Today’s Action Item:
Make the Father known to all nations.

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me. From the Nativity to the Cross, we must learn to walk with You through Jesus by Holy Spirit within us. Not always easy, but Jesus tells us, it won’t be. Not always understanding, but Jesus purposely used parables to hide the mysteries of the Kingdom for those who truly seek Him. This is why He tells us seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened. He waits us, but we must choose light, and be willing to be a light.
We must endure the stillness and silence that exists in the midst of the worlds busyness and chaos. Through persistent prayer we will find Him, and He will teach us to walk just as He walked. Pray without ceasing, never lose hope, keep the faith alive and love unconditionally.
This is my prayer for me and mine, and theirs. Hear my prayer.

Gospel Matthew 2:13-18

When the magi had departed, behold,
the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said,
“Rise, take the child and his mother, flee to Egypt,
and stay there until I tell you.
Herod is going to search for the child to destroy him.”
Joseph rose and took the child and his mother by night
and departed for Egypt.
He stayed there until the death of Herod,
that what the Lord had said through the prophet might be fulfilled,
Out of Egypt I called my son.
When Herod realized that he had been deceived by the magi,
he became furious.
He ordered the massacre of all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity
two years old and under,
in accordance with the time he had ascertained from the magi.
Then was fulfilled what had been said through Jeremiah the prophet:
A voice was heard in Ramah,
sobbing and loud lamentation;
Rachel weeping for her children,
and she would not be consoled,
since they were no more.

Today’s Action Item: Trust that God will save innocent children.

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me, thank You for walking with me and mine. For helping us walk in the light, Your light.
This world is full of darkness. Ever since Adam and Eve ate from the Tree we have been surrounded by darkness. And the temptations and lies of darkness. It easy to grow weary, but we must rest in You and find our strength to carry on. Full of hope and faith in Jesus’s Passion and Sacrifice. For many have been martyred for Him and in His name. So how can our trivial problems compare. Only in and through Jesus, in His light can we see clearly. And in prayer find what we need to go forth each day.
Hear my prayers God. And the prayers of mine and theirs.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls.
In Jesus name I pray.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Apostles (Nicene) Creed

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.
