The Words of Jesus of Nazareth by Lee Cantelon

The Power of Prayer

Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, and your joy will be full.

The prophet Isaiah has written: "My house shall be called by all nations a house of prayer."

Pray then, to the Father who hears your most intimate prayers and rewards them openly; and whatever you ask the Father in my name, he will provide. If you live your life in me, and let my words live in you, you may ask what you wish and it will be given to you.

Pray in this manner:

“Our Father in heaven, may all the earth recognize that you are the one and holy God.

May your kingdom dwell among us. May your purpose be accomplished on earth, as it is in heaven. Provide us with daily bread to sustain us, and forgive our falling short. Help us to forgive those who have wronged us. Keep us from wandering into faithlessness, and deliver us from the evil one. For to you belongs all power and glory, eternally. Let it be so."

V

Lord God, Abba Father, in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who have trespassed against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Your is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, now and forever, Amen. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

V

Would that men might come at last to see that it is quite impossible to reach the thicket of the riches and wisdom of God except by first entering the thicket of much suffering, in such a way that the soul finds there its consolation and desire. The soul that longs for divine wisdom chooses first, and in truth, to enter the thicket of the cross.

— St. John of the Cross

Isaiah 55:10-11

10  "For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and return not thither but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,  11  so shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Psalm 34:4-7, 16-19

4  I sought the LORD, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. 5  Look to him, and be radiant; so your faces shall never be ashamed.  6  This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.  7  The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.  16  The face of the LORD is against evildoers, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.  17 When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.  18  The LORD is near to the brokenhearted, and saves the crushed in spirit.  19  Many are the afflictions of the righteous; but the LORD delivers him out of them all.
Matthew 6:7-15

7  "And in praying do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their many words. 8  Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. 9  Pray then like this: Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10  Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. 11  Give us this day our daily bread; 12  And forgive us our debts, As we also have forgiven our debtors;  13  And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. 14  For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father also will forgive you; 15  but if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

When Heaven Invades Earth Unabridged By Bill Johnson Narrated by Tim Lundeen – When Heaven Invades Earth is a powerful statement and testimony on the Kingdom of God. Theologically sound, well supported, and extremely well argued, this message provides a carefully constructed biblical foundation for the average Christian to live and walk in the miraculous power of God. Not only is the supernatural possible, it is our commission. The Great Commission that Christ gave the Church challenges us and makes us responsible to rise up to this supreme supernatural calling. Johnson explains how we are called to dominion in the earth through the divine rule of God.

The Words of Jesus of Nazareth by Lee Cantelon

Disciples and Servants

You cannot allow two masters to rule your life. Either you will disregard one and love the other; or else cling to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and remain enslaved to the gods of this world.

Refrain from calling men your spiritual father; for you have only one Father who dwells in heaven. Neither allow anyone to call you learned teacher; for there is only one true teacher, Christ. The person who would be greatest among you must first become your servant; and all who humble themselves shall be exalted.

When the Messiah returns in his glory and all the holy angels are with him, he will sit upon the throne of his heavenly glory. Before him will be gathered all nations and he will separate them, as a shepherd divides the sheep from the goats. The sheep he will set on his right hand, and the goats on his left.

Then the King of Heaven will say to those on his right: "Come, blessed by my Father; enter into the inheritance of the kingdom, prepared for you since the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you offered me food. I was thirsty, and you brought me cold water to drink. I was without home, and you invited me in. I was without clothes, and you clothed me. I was ill, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me."

Then the righteous will answer in amazement: "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you; or thirsty and give you drink? When did we shelter or clothe you? Did we ever care for you when you were ill, or visit you in prison?"

The King will reply: "Truly, inasmuch as you have done such things for the least of my brothers and sisters, you have done the same for me."

To the ones on his left, the King will say: "Depart from me! For I was hungry, and you gave me no food. I was thirsty, and you offered me nothing to drink. I was without home, and you turned me away. I was naked, and you gave me no clothes. I was sick, yet you didn’t care for me. I was in prison, but you didn’t visit me."

These will protest: "Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or homeless, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and fail to comfort you?"

The King will answer: "Truly I say to you, inasmuch as you have failed to do these things for the least of my brothers and sisters, you have failed to do them for me."

Those on the left will be sent away into eternal darkness, but the righteous will be ushered into the kingdom of life.

You call me master and teacher. If I, then, am willing to be your most humble servant, should not you be willing to serve one another as well? I have lived my life as an example before you. Imitate me, and do the same to others as I have done for you.

V

Lord God, Abba Father, thankful and humbly I pray for all those souls to still do not believe, and for those that believe yet need help with their unbelief. The ways under the sun consume us and will swallow us whole in our pride and selfishness if we do not repent and learn to die to those parts of us that are not rooted in You through Jesus Christ. Liken my heart to Jesus, renew a fresh righteous spirit in me to serve only You. Forgive me for what I have done wrong and failed to do right. Bless me and mine indeed, and provide for us according to Your will and for Your call. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

It’s true he was a sinner. But don’t pass so final a judgment. Have pity in your heart and don’t forget that he may yet be an Augustine, while you remain just another mediocrity.

Leviticus 19:1-2, 11-18

1  And the LORD said to Moses,  2  "Say to all the congregation of the people of Israel, You shall be holy; for I the LORD your God am holy.  11  "You shall not steal, nor deal falsely, nor lie to one another.  12  And you shall not swear by my name falsely, and so profane the name of your God: I am the LORD.  13  "You shall not oppress your neighbor or rob him. The wages of a hired servant shall not remain with you all night until the morning.  14  You shall not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block before the blind, but you shall fear your God: I am the LORD.  15  "You shall do no injustice in judgment; you shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor.  16  You shall not go up and down as a slanderer among your people, and you shall not stand forth against the life of your neighbor: I am the LORD.  17  "You shall not hate your brother in your heart, but you shall reason with your neighbor, lest you bear sin because of him.  18  You shall not take vengeance or bear any grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.
Psalm 19:8-10, 15

8  the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes;  9  the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever; the ordinances of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether.  10  More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.
Matthew 25:31-46

31  "When the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne.  32  Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate them one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats,

33  and he will place the sheep at his right hand, but the goats at the left.  34  Then the King will say to those at his right hand, `Come, O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;  35  for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,  36  I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’  37  Then the righteous will answer him, `Lord, when did we see thee hungry and feed thee, or thirsty and give thee drink?  38  And when did we see thee a stranger and welcome thee, or naked and clothe thee?  39  And when did we see thee sick or in prison and visit thee?’  40  And the King will answer them, `Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.’  41  Then he will say to those at his left hand, `Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels;  42  for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink,  43  I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’  44  Then they also will answer, `Lord, when did we see thee hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to thee?’  45  Then he will answer them, `Truly, I say to you, as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me.’  46  And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

The Trial and the Cross

You have no power at all against me unless it is given to you from above.

Why do you prosecute me by these accusations? Interrogate those who heard me teach. They know very well the things I have said. I did not spread my message in secret, but spoke openly for the world to hear, teaching publicly in places of worship and the courtyards of the temple where my followers gathered.

If what I have said violates your laws, then give evidence of this. But if I have spoken the truth, then why do you strike me?

My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my followers would have taken up arms to defend it, that I should not be delivered into your hands. But mine is not an earthly kingdom. Yet you are right when you accuse me of being a king. To this end was I born, and for this purpose I came into the world: that I should be a witness to the truth. All who love the truth recognize my message. Now will the prince of this world be overthrown, and if I be lifted up from the earth, I will draw all people to me.

This above all is why my Father loves me; for I lay down my life willingly that I might take it up again. No man takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own free will. I have the power to lay it down; and I have the power to take it up again. The Father has given me this power.

Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?

V

Lord God, Abba Father, today’s readings hold many truths and are deep for meditation; yet I always seek the words in red. Those Words spoken by my Lord and Savior, for to me they are they way and hold the truths. While the wisdom of the saints like St. Thomas More are rich, I seek the purity of the teachings of Jesus and ask and pray that the spirit which lives within me would help me to walk in these words always knowing that while under the sun I have only time to serve Jesus, and must continue preparing myself to be ready to serve and continue feeling for Your will so I will know where, how and with who to serve. Guide me, bless me, protect me and teach me Lord God in Jesus name I ask and pray. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

When death comes, and we stand before God, no king can command Him, no authority can restrain Him, no riches can hire Him to wait past his appointed time even one moment of an hour. Deuteronomy 30:15-20

15  "See, I have set before you this day life and good, death and evil.  16  If you obey the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you this day, by loving the LORD your God, by walking in his ways, and by keeping his commandments and his statutes and his ordinances, then you shall live and multiply, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land which you are entering to take possession of it.  20  loving the LORD your God, obeying his voice, and cleaving to him; for that means life to you and length of days, that you may dwell in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them."
Psalm 1-4, 6

1  Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;  2  but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.  3  He is like a tree planted by streams of water, that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.
Luke 9:22-25

22  saying, "The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised."  23  And he said to all, "If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.  24  For whoever would save his life will lose it; and whoever loses his life for my sake, he will save it.  25  For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself?

Jesus Questioned About Fasting

Then John’s disciples came and asked him, "How is it that we and the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?" Jesus answered, "How can the guests of the bridegroom mourn while he is with them? The time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast. "No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse.

V

Lord God, Abba Father, thankful and humbly I ask and pray discipline, oneness and servants eye; the discipline to carry out and finish what I start for You, oneness in Your wisdom to know what is right and best according to You will for me to do, and servants eye to see and know what and who You want me to serve. This I ask in Jesus name, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

V

It is impossible for a person who prays regularly to remain in serious sin; because the two are incompatible, one or the other will have to be given up.

Joel 2:12-18

12  "Yet even now," says the LORD, "return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning;  13  and rend your hearts and not your garments." Return to the LORD, your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love, and repents of evil.
Psalm 51:3-6, 12-14, 17

3  For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me.  4  Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done that which is evil in thy sight, so that thou art justified in thy sentence and blameless in thy judgment.  5  Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.  6  Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward being; therefore teach me wisdom in my secret heart.  12  Restore to me the joy of thy salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.  13  Then I will teach transgressors thy ways, and sinners will return to thee.  14  Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing aloud of thy deliverance.  17  The sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
2 Corinthians 5:206:2

20  So we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We beseech you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.  21  For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.  1  Working together with him, then, we entreat you not to accept the grace of God in vain.  2  For he says, "At the acceptable time I have listened to you, and helped you on the day of salvation." Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
Matthew 6:1-6, 16-18

1  "Beware of practicing your piety before men in order to be seen by them; for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.  2  "Thus, when you give alms, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by men. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.  3  But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,  4  so that your alms may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.  5  "And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by men. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.  6  But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.  16  "And when you fast, do not look dismal, like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by men. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.  17  But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,  18  that your fasting may not be seen by men but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

Disciples and Servants

You cannot allow two masters to rule your life. Either you will disregard one and love the other; or else cling to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and remain enslaved to the gods of this world.

I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. Be as wise as serpents, but as harmless as doves.

You have seen how the earthly rulers exercise their authority, inconsiderate of the poor. This is not how it is to those in the kingdom of God. Whoever would be great among you must first become your servant. And whoever of you would be the greatest, must first be servant of all. Even so, I have come, not to be served, but to serve, and to give my life as a ransom for many.

V

Lord God, Abba Father, humbly I listen, I watch, I wait for Your secret truths; those spiritual insights that when I can grasp become truths for me as through the ages. Secrets that when I am able to weave together in the conscious moments become steps, steps that when put together become my walk. That walk that I seek, ask and pray for that in and through Jesus I would know You more, love You more, walk in and with You more. And in so doing let Your light shine from within me for others to see. This I pray, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Highest Providence often works a wonderful miracle: that of having evil men make others who are evil to become good.

Sirach 2:1-11

1  My son, if you come forward to serve the Lord, prepare yourself for temptation.  2  Set your heart right and be steadfast, and do not be hasty in time of calamity.  3  Cleave to him and do not depart, that you may be honored at the end of your life.  4  Accept whatever is brought upon you, and in changes that humble you be patient.  5  For gold is tested in the fire, and acceptable men in the furnace of humiliation.  6  Trust in him, and he will help you; make your ways straight, and hope in him.  7  You who fear the Lord, wait for his mercy; and turn not aside, lest you fall.  8  You who fear the Lord, trust in him, and your reward will not fail;  9  you who fear the Lord, hope for good things, for everlasting joy and mercy.  10  Consider the ancient generations and see: who ever trusted in the Lord and was put to shame? Or who ever persevered in the fear of the Lord and was forsaken? Or who ever called upon him and was overlooked?  11  For the Lord is compassionate and merciful; he forgives sins and saves in time of affliction.
Psalm 37:3-4, 18-19, 27-28, 39-40

Trust in the LORD, and do good; so you will dwell in the land, and enjoy security.  4  Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.  18  The LORD knows the days of the blameless, and their heritage will abide for ever;  19  they are not put to shame in evil times, in the days of famine they have abundance.  27  Depart from evil, and do good; so shall you abide forever.
Mark 9:30-37

30  They went on from there and passed through Galilee. And he would not have any one know it;  31  for he was teaching his disciples, saying to them, "The Son of man will be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him; and when he is killed, after three days he will rise."  32  But they did not understand the saying, and they were afraid to ask him.  33  And they came to Caper’na-um; and when he was in the house he asked them, "What were you discussing on the way?"  34  But they were silent; for on the way they had discussed with one another who was the greatest.  35  And he sat down and called the twelve; and he said to them, "If any one would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all."  36  And he took a child, and put him in the midst of them; and taking him in his arms, he said to them,  37  "Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me."

Christ’s Prayer for His Disciples

I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me; for they truly are yours. All who have believed in me are yours; and they do honor me. I am returning to you in heaven; but those that believe in me remain behind. Father, keep them by the power of your name; that they all may be one, as we are one.

V

Lord God, Abba Father, humbly I pray, renew a right spirit within me for I know I have fallen short of You glory in want I have said and done, and what I have failed to do right; but in and through Jesus I keep getting up and coming to the foot of the Cross. For it is there I find truth, love and forgiveness for me and for me to give to others. I must die to myself in every and all ways, help me Abba Father in the moments of my weakness, remind me and help me feel the difference in that which is just fleeting satisfaction and that which is of everlasting value. For I do seek You and in my moments of weakness I also forget and or lack the wisdom that is everlasting. Fill my spirit with You wisdom in these moments or throw me down to the foot of the Cross. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

V

There are two sides to every sin: the turning of the will towards fleeting satisfaction and the turning away from everlasting value. The first can be called lust; the unbridled desire for pleasure. The second is pride; the lack of the submission to God.

Sirach 1:1-10

All wisdom comes from the Lord and is with him forever.  2  The sand of the sea, the drops of rain, and the days of eternity — who can count them?  3  The height of heaven, the breadth of the earth, the abyss, and wisdom — who can search them out?  4  Wisdom was created before all things, and prudent understanding from eternity.  5  The root of wisdom — to whom has it been revealed? Her clever devices — who knows them?  6  There is One who is wise, greatly to be feared, sitting upon his throne.  7  The Lord himself created wisdom; he saw her and apportioned her, he poured her out upon all his works.  8  She dwells with all flesh according to his gift, and he supplied her to those who love him.  9  The fear of the Lord is glory and exultation, and gladness and a crown of rejoicing.  10  The fear of the Lord delights the heart, and gives gladness and joy and long life.
Psalm 93:1-2, 5
Mark 9:14-29

14  And when they came to the disciples, they saw a great crowd about them, and scribes arguing with them.  15  And immediately all the crowd, when they saw him, were greatly amazed, and ran up to him and greeted him.  16  And he asked them, "What are you discussing with them?"  17  And one of the crowd answered him, "Teacher, I brought my son to you, for he has a dumb spirit;  18  and wherever it seizes him, it dashes him down; and he foams and grinds his teeth and becomes rigid; and I asked your disciples to cast it out, and they were not able."  19  And he answered them, "O faithless generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him to me."  20  And they brought the boy to him; and when the spirit saw him, immediately it convulsed the boy, and he fell on the ground and rolled about, foaming at the mouth.  21  And Jesus asked his father, "How long has he had this?" And he said, "From childhood.  22  And it has often cast him into the fire and into the water, to destroy him; but if you can do anything, have pity on us and help us."  23  And Jesus said to him, "If you can! All things are possible to him who believes."  24  Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, "I believe; help my unbelief!"  25  And when Jesus saw that a crowd came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, "You dumb and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him, and never enter him again."  26  And after crying out and convulsing him terribly, it came out, and the boy was like a corpse; so that most of them said, "He is dead."  27  But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose.  28  And when he had entered the house, his disciples asked him privately, "Why could we not cast it out?"  29  And he said to them, "This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer."

THE REVELATION

THE TIME IS COME THAT THE SON OF MAN BE REVEALED AND GLORIFIED.

I DO NOT COME SEEKING MY OWN GLORY: THERE IS ONE WHO SEEKS TO EXALT ME, AND HE IS THE JUDGE OF ALL WHO REJECT ME.

IT IS WRITTEN IN YOUR EARTHLY LAWS THAT THE CONCURRING TESTIMONY OF TWO WITNESSES IS TRUE. ACCORDINGLY, I BEAR WITNESS OF MYSELF, AS DOES MY FATHER WHO HAS SENT ME. I KNOW THAT THE WITNESS HE HAS GIVEN OF ME IS TRUE. BECAUSE OF THIS, I DO NOT HAVE NEED OF THE ENDORSEMENT OF ANY EARTHLY AUTHORITY.

HE WHO SPEAKS ONLY HIS OWN IDEAS DOES SO TO GAIN HONOR FOR HIMSELF. BUT HE WHO WORKS FOR THE GLORY AND HONOR OF THE ONE WHO HAS SENT HIM IS TRUE, AND THERE IS NOTHING FALSE OR VAINGLORIOUS IN HIM.

I HAVE NOT COME TO YOU ON MY OWN BEHALF, BUT HAVE BEEN SENT BY THE ONE WHO IS TRUTH. NOR HAVE I COME DOWN FROM HEAVEN TO DO MY OWN WILL, BUT RATHER TO DO THE WILL OF THE FATHER WHO HAS SENT ME. I WAS BORN AND CAME INTO THIS WORLD FOR ONE PURPOSE: TO BE A LIVING WITNESS TO THE TRUTH. THOSE WHO LOVE THE TRUTH WILL FOLLOW ME.

V

Lord God, Abba Father, Oh My Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy. For under the sun we must constantly be dying to ourselves, for when we stop we stumble and fall short of Your glory. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

If God allows some people to pile up riches instead of making themselves poor as Jesus did, it is so they may use what He has entrusted to them as loyal servants, in accordance with the Master’s will, to do spiritual and temporal good to others.

Isaiah 43:18-19, 21-22, 24-25

18  "Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.  19  Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.  21  the people whom I formed for myself that they might declare my praise.  25  "I, I am He who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.
Psalm 41:2-5, 13-14

2  the LORD protects him and keeps him alive; he is called blessed in the land; thou dost not give him up to the will of his enemies.  3  The LORD sustains him on his sickbed; in his illness thou healest all his infirmities.  4  As for me, I said, "O LORD, be gracious to me; heal me, for I have sinned against thee!"  5  My enemies say of me in malice: "When will he die, and his name perish?"
2 Corinthians 1:18-22

18  As surely as God is faithful, our word to you has not been Yes and No.  19  For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we preached among you, Silva’nus and Timothy and I, was not Yes and No; but in him it is always Yes.  20  For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why we utter the Amen through him, to the glory of God.  21  But it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has commissioned us;  22  he has put his seal upon us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.
Mark 2:1-12

1  And when he returned to Caper’na-um after some days, it was reported that he was at home.  2  And many were gathered together, so that there was no longer room for them, not even about the door; and he was preaching the word to them.  3  And they came, bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men.  4  And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him; and when they had made an opening, they let down the pallet on which the paralytic lay.  5  And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "My son, your sins are forgiven."  6  Now some of the scribes were sitting there, questioning in their hearts,  7  "Why does this man speak thus? It is blasphemy! Who can forgive sins but God alone?"  8  And immediately Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they thus questioned within themselves, said to them, "Why do you question thus in your hearts?  9  Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, `Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, `Rise, take up your pallet and walk’?  10  But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins" — he said to the paralytic —  11  "I say to you, rise, take up your pallet and go home."  12  And he rose, and immediately took up the pallet and went out before them all; so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, "We never saw anything like this!"
