Bible Readings – Easter Weekday – the Source of Source

May 4, 2007

Dear Lord God, thank You for once again You watching and listening to my cry, You see my tears, and You showed me that under the sun we see it as ‘we have to give to receive’, but the truth is there is a source for all we need, and that we need to learn how to connect into that source, the source of source as Dr. Wayne Dryer calls it in his book Powers of Intentions; this source gives to us, so we will have what we need to give to others. But we must remain connected to this source, for one of the truths of the source is that we can have what we need to give unconditionally unless we are receiving what we need from the source. The more we are required to give the closer we need to be to the source receiving what we need. We must be careful not to give more than we receive from the source or we will lose our eyes of faith. And without eyes of faith we cannot do and give unconditionally. I know of nothing I can get or be given under the sun that compares to the feeling I get when I am able to give and truly give without expecting anything in return, no strings, no expectations. I fell very fortunate that I finally accept these truths about the source and know who that source is and that the more time I spend connected to the source the more the source teaches me and the more I can give. Sure the source requires that I must die to myself, but by practicing the presence of the source, the source shows me that that is what I must do. And the more I die to myself under the sun, the more I see myself and learn about myself and can be myself as the source intents for me to be. So now when the ways under the sun get me thinking to myself why me, how much more must I do, this is not fair, or I become fearful about tomorrow or that I being taken advantage of or worse; I know these thoughts are not of the source and that I need more of the source, for these thoughts are not what I want to think, not what I want to be, but only a sign that I am thirsty and hungry for the source. So I must make sure to drink and feed on the source, just like my body drinks and eats, water and food. For I can do nothing without the source. Yes I believe in the source of source, and yes I believe that the source is God the Father and Creator, and He gave me His Son Jesus Christ as an example and teacher to show me how to connect and stay connected to the source, and through the Holy Spirit He is with me always, yes this I do believe, Amen

Never will anyone who says his Rosary every day be led astray. This is a statement that I would gladly sign with my blood.

— St. Louis de Montfort

26 “Brethren, sons of the family of Abraham, and those among you that fear God, to us has been sent the message of this salvation. 27 For those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, because they did not recognize him nor understand the utterances of the prophets which are read every sabbath, fulfilled these by condemning him. 28 Though they could charge him with nothing deserving death, yet they asked Pilate to have him killed. 29 And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a tomb. 30 But God raised him from the dead; 31 and for many days he appeared to those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people. 32 And we bring you the good news that what God promised to the fathers, 33 this he has fulfilled to us their children by raising Jesus; as also it is written in the second psalm, `Thou art my Son, today I have begotten thee.’

6 “I have set my king on Zion, my holy hill.” 7 I will tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to me, “You are my son, today I have begotten you. 8 Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession. 9 You shall break them with a rod of iron, and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.” 10 Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. 11 Serve the LORD with fear, with trembling

John 14:1-6

1 “Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way where I am going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me.

Bible Readings – Saints Philip and James, Apostles (Feast) – today I pray for forgiveness and forgiving hearts,

May 3, 2007

Dear Lord God, today I pray for forgiveness and forgiving hearts, the forgiveness of all that I have done and said that is wrong and forgiveness for all I have failed to do right; I pray for a forgiving heart and that You would separate me and those that I have or have been wronged and hurt by others from any memory of their anguish, pain or suffering that I caused or that they experienced with others. When I see all the needless pain that we cause because of our selfish and prideful ways under the sun I cry, for there is such much real pain and suffering under the sun as a result of hunger, illness, disasters and war that we will never understand the reasons why, why can’t we see that selfishness and pride create so much needless hurt and in the end will only consume us in ourselves, never finding what we want, need or who we are. O Lord hear my cry, see my tears to the selfish and proud, strike us down with conviction so that we maybe humbled to seek forgiveness and in turn know that we must forgive, if we are to be forgiven. This I ask in Jesus’ name, Amen.

In giving us His Son, His only Word (for He possesses no other), He spoke everything to us at once in This sole Word – and He has no more to say. . . because what He spoke before to the prophets in parts, He has now spoken all at once by giving us the All Who is His Son. Any person questioning God or desiring some vision or revelation would be guilty not only of foolish behavior but also of offending Him, by not fixing his eyes entirely upon Christ and by living with the desire for some other novelty.

— St. John of the Cross

1 Corinthians 15:1-8

1 Now I would remind you, brethren, in what terms I preached to you the gospel, which you received, in which you stand, 2 by which you are saved, if you hold it fast — unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 Then he appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 8 Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me.

Psalm 19:2-5

2 Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night declares knowledge. 3 There is no speech, nor are there words; their voice is not heard; 4 yet their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, 5 which comes forth like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and like a strong man runs its course with joy.

John 14:6-14

6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also; henceforth you know him and have seen him.” 8 Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and we shall be satisfied.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you do not know me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father; how can you say, `Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority; but the Father who dwells in me does his works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father in me; or else believe me for the sake of the works themselves. 12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father. 13 Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son; 14 if you ask anything in my name, I will do it.

Legislative Alert

May 2, 2007

Legislative Alert: Two action items need immediate attention. The House of Representatives is planning to schedule votes on two separate bills today, May 2, and perhaps tomorrow (the National Day of Prayer). BOTH MUST BE OPPOSED.

1) Head Start Reauthorization. While this may be a worthwhile program, there is no legislative language to protect the hiring rights of faith-based organizations wishing to participate and help high risk children from low income families. Congressman Shuler offered a “fig leaf” amendment in committee, praising the work of faith-based organizations but telling them they have to give up their rights if they want to participate in Head Start.

The landmark 1964 Civil Rights Act explicitly protects the rights of religious organizations to take religion into account in their hiring practices. In fact, the Civil Rights Act made clear that when faith-based organizations hire employees on a religious basis, it is an exercise of the organization’s civil liberties and does not constitute “discrimination” under federal law. Faith-based organizations have a federally protected right to maintain their religious nature and character through those they hire and nothing in Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 provides that a religious organization loses its rights merely because it receives federal funds. These organizations willing to serve their communities by participating in federal programs should not be forced to give up that right.*

CALL TO ACTION: Please call your Congressman immediately and urge him/her to vote NO on the Head Start bill (H.R. 1429) because it does not protect the hiring rights of faith-based organizations.

Bible Readings – reveal Your Will and Purpose, giving me the knowledge and wisdom to know and understand, and the faith, hope and love to act!

May 2, 2007

Dear Lord God, I guess I have always feared that You truly existed, I think I wondered away from You because I knew I could never live without sinning, I realized that I was headed no where without You and no one under the sun could meet my needs, I knew that all the so called pleasures and material things under the sun would not make me happy, I sought Your protection, knowledge and wisdom for my children and You called out to me, I opened the door to my heart to You and You began to teach and show me that I have reason to fear You but greater reasons to love You, You taught me to understand myself and that the only way I could live the way I wanted was with You, You showed me and helped understand that Your Will will be done under the sun and is it above, You made me want to understand that You have a purpose for each of us and that I must seek that purpose no matter what my stage is under the sun, You blessed me with the gift of a love and desire for Your Word, You always put the right persons in my path and gave me signs to reinforce what You were teaching me, while I know You still have much work to do within me I have come to believe in Your assume power and that You are here with me now as always listening to me, I know You hear my prayers and I understand that Your Will and Purpose for me and each of us is above all our prayers and learning to pray means knowing that what I seek or ask may not be what You Will or the Purpose You have for me; so I ask You Lord God to show me now what is next, reveal Your Will and Purpose, giving me the knowledge and wisdom to know and understand, and the faith, hope and love to act. I ask this in Jesus name today, Amen

The human nature of God’s Son, not by itself but by its union with the Word, knew and showed forth in itself everything that pertains to God.

— St. Maximus the Confessor

Acts 12:24-2513:1-5

24 But the word of God grew and multiplied. 25 And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem when they had fulfilled their mission, bringing with them John whose other name was Mark.

1 Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers, Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyre’ne, Man’a-en a member of the court of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. 2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” 3 Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off. 4 So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleu’cia; and from there they sailed to Cyprus. 5 When they arrived at Sal’amis, they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. And they had John to assist them.

Psalm 67:2-3, 5-6, 8

2 that thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving power among all nations. 3 Let the peoples praise thee, O God; let all the peoples praise thee! 5 Let the peoples praise thee, O God; let all the peoples praise thee! 6 The earth has yielded its increase; God, our God, has blessed us.

John 12:44-50

44 And Jesus cried out and said, “He who believes in me, believes not in me but in him who sent me. 45 And he who sees me sees him who sent me. 46 I have come as light into the world, that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness. 47 If any one hears my sayings and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. 48 He who rejects me and does not receive my sayings has a judge; the word that I have spoken will be his judge on the last day. 49 For I have not spoken on my own authority; the Father who sent me has himself given me commandment what to say and what to speak. 50 And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I say, therefore, I say as the Father has bidden me.”
