For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 12/03/2010

< >< My Prayer >< >

I knew if I kept bringing it to You, You would work me through it and create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me, for my one walk in and with Jesus. I knew Jesus would help me. I knew I could not do it on my own for the battle between my will and Your will for me is only won when I stay open to You. If I hear, see and feel what others do and say from my perspective I am doomed by what I am under the sun, but if I seek Your face and just feel with a heart likened to Jesus’ I will overcome myself, by dying to self to server You and others, even the those that want me to bring or keep me under the sun, away from the Son. So I cry out…

Jesus help me!

Abba Father in the name of Christ Jesus who lives within me through the Holy Spirit I pray that You would indeed bless me and mine in fulfillment of Your will and keep us from evil and pain. Jesus help us! In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

December – “For to us a child is born… And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” ISAIAH 9:6

Today – Do NOT BE SURPRISED by the fiery attacks on your mind. When you struggle to find Me and to live in My Peace, don’t let discouragement set in. You are engaged in massive warfare, spiritually speaking. The evil one abhors your closeness to Me, and his demonic underlings are determined to destroy our intimacy. When you find yourself in the thick of battle, call upon My Name: “Jesus, help me!” At that instant, the battle becomes Mine; your role is simply to trust Me as I fight for you.

My Name, properly used, has unlimited Power to bless and protect. At the end of time, every knee will bow (in heaven, on earth, and under the earth), when My Name is proclaimed. People who have used “Jesus” as a shoddy swear word will fall down in terror on that awesome day. But all those who have drawn near Me through trustingly uttering My Name will be filled with inexpressible and glorious Joy. This is your great hope, as you await My return.

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 12/02/2010

< >< My Prayer >< >

Today I feel two themes from devotion, Gospel and Today in the Word; peace and regret. These two states or feelings seem in such contradiction to each other if not for Jesus, Whom through we will always find peace, even from the regrets we experience under the sun. The lesson for me is not about do’s and don’ts but simply one walk, to always walk as one with Jesus; feeling His constant presence, focusing on His teachings and Your will for us. Not the goals or dreams we develop for ourselves under the sun, which in themselves contain built in regret, but the simply purpose yet difficult process of following His will, even or especially when it is in conflict with what we have set or thought up for our self and knowing the feeling peace that we feel from doing Your will and being conscious of His presence. Keep conscious, hold me close, help know Thy will Lord.

Abba Father in the name of Christ Jesus who lives within me through the Holy Spirit I pray that You create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me, for my one walk in and with Jesus today. Asking that You bless me and mine in fulfillment of Your will and keep us from evil and pain. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

< >< Today’s Jesus Calling Daily Devotion >< >

December – “For to us a child is born… And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” ISAIAH 9:6

Today – I AM THE PRINCE OF PEACE. As I said to My disciples, I say also to you: Peace be with you. Since I am your constant Companion, My Peace is steadfastly with you. When you keep your focus on Me, you experience both My Presence and My Peace. Worship Me as King of kings, Lord of lords, and Prince of Peace.

You need My Peace each moment to accomplish My purposes in your life. Sometimes you are tempted to take shortcuts, in order to reach your goal as quickly as possible. But if the shortcut requires turning your back on My peaceful Presence, you must choose the longer route. Walk with Me along paths of Peace; enjoy the journey in My Presence.

You need the certainty of My loving Presence in order to weather the storms of life.

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 12/01/2010

< >< My Prayer >< >

Experiential knowledge of You is what we must seek, we must have; the feeling of knowing the unseen, in believing in the unseen despite the day to day emotions and doubt that we all experience and all those under the sun that are trying to remove You from our daily life in school and at work. Church service once or twice a week is not enough, daily prayer is not enough, we must walk as one with You in every moment, everywhere – one walk is the only way to feel until the unseen becomes more real that the seen as we grow progress from believer to follower to disciple of Jesus Christ.

Today – I LOVE YOU with an everlasting Love, which flows out from the depths of eternity. Before you knew you, I knew you. Ponder the awesome mystery of a Love that encompasses you from before birth to beyond the grave.

Modern man has lost the perspective of eternity. To distract himself from the gaping jaws of death, he engages in ceaseless activity and amusement. The practice of being still in My Presence is almost a lost art, yet it is this very stillness that enables you to experience My eternal Love. You need the certainty of My loving Presence in order to weather the storms of life. During times of severe testing, even the best theology can fail you if it isn’t accompanied by experiential knowledge of Me. The ultimate protection against sinking during life’s storms is devoting time to develop your friendship with Me.

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 11/29/2010

< >< My Prayer >< >

Thank you for a blessed and peaceful holiday with mine; now a new week begins with thoughts of past still lingering within, but I know if I stay focused on You, You will weed out the negative and lead me to the positive within every relationship and situation. If not by continuing Your work within me, then by reminding me of the Passion of my Lord Jesus, and what He endured for me, no better, no worse than any of Your children under the sun, and that You have placed ‘me in situations where my strengths are irrelevant and my weaknesses are glaringly evident’, and only by remaining open to You and depending on You will I accomplish Your will and purpose.

November – “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

Today – LET ME INFUSE MY PEACE into your innermost being. As you sit quietly in the Light of My Presence, you can sense Peace growing within you. This is not something that you accomplish through self-discipline and willpower; it is opening yourself to receive My blessing.

In this age of independence, people find it hard to acknowledge their neediness. However, I have taken you along a path that has highlighted your need for Me: placing you in situations where your strengths were irrelevant and your weaknesses were glaringly evident. Through the aridity of those desert marches, I have drawn you closer and closer to Myself. You have discovered flowers of Peace blossoming in the most desolate places. You have learned to thank Me for hard times and difficult journeys, trusting that through them I accomplish My best work. You have realized that needing Me is the key to knowing Me intimately, which is the gift above all gifts.

“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

November 30, 2010

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 11/30/2010

< >< My Prayer >< >

Like Martha, far too often under the sun we worry about the busyness and problems of the world losing our focus on ‘what is better’. During this time of year the busyness and problems increase, as does the loneliness associated to a walk without You, but for those of us that practice Your presence we will learn to make the ‘better ‘ choice, and we will never feel alone. O that I can be like Mary and make the ‘better’ choices in each moment, and that because of Your visibility in me, mine and others would make the ‘better’ choice as well.

< >< Advent 2010 >< >

< >< Today’s Jesus Calling Daily Devotion >< >

November – “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

Today – PROBLEMS ARE PART OF LIFE. They are inescapable: woven into the very fabric of this fallen world. You tend to go into problem-solving mode all too readily, acting as if you have the capacity to fix everything. This is a habitual response, so automatic that it bypasses your conscious thinking. Not only does this habit frustrate you, it also distances you from Me.

Do not let fixing things be your top priority. You are ever so limited in your capacity to correct all that is wrong in the world around you. Don’t weigh yourself down with responsibilities that are not your own. Instead, make your relationship with Me your primary concern. Talk with Me about whatever is on your mind, seeking My perspective on the situation. Rather than trying to fix everything that comes to your attention, ask Me to show you what is truly important. Remember that you are en route to heaven, and let your problems fade in the Light of eternity.

Trouble and distress have come upon me, but your commands give me delight.

November 16, 2010

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 11/15/2010

< >< My Prayer >< >

Help me stay focused on You, not all that I have to do and the problems and concerns on my mind that like weed keep growing and trying to cut me off from You; help keep me open and in step with the spirit within me, reflecting Your presence in all I do and say. Help keep me thoughtful that all things under the sun will pass but my relationship with You is eternal and the key to experiencing as much of heaven on earth as is possible for me is staying consciously connected with You in the now of each moment.

November – “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

Today – APPROACH PROBLEMS with a light touch. When your mind moves toward a problem area, you tend to focus on that situation so intensely that you lose sight of Me. You pit yourself against the difficulty as if you had to conquer it immediately. Your mind gears up for battle, and your body becomes tense and anxious. Unless you achieve total victory, you feel defeated.

There is a better way. When a problem starts to overshadow your thoughts, bring this matter to Me. Talk with Me about it and look at it in the Light of My Presence. This puts some much-needed space between you and your concern, enabling you to see from My perspective. You will be surprised at the results. Sometimes you may even laugh at yourself for being so serious about something so insignificant.

You will always face trouble in this life. But more importantly, you will always have Me with you, helping you to handle whatever you encounter. Approach problems with a light touch by viewing them in My revealing Light.

Reading 1 Rv 1:1-4; 2:1-5

The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to him,
to show his servants what must happen soon.
He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,
who gives witness to the word of God
and to the testimony of Jesus Christ by reporting what he saw.
Blessed is the one who reads aloud
and blessed are those who listen to this prophetic message
and heed what is written in it, for the appointed time is near.

John, to the seven churches in Asia: grace to you and peace
from him who is and who was and who is to come,
and from the seven spirits before his throne.

I heard the Lord saying to me:
“To the angel of the Church in Ephesus, write this:

“‘The one who holds the seven stars in his right hand
and walks in the midst of the seven gold lampstands says this:
“I know your works, your labor, and your endurance,
and that you cannot tolerate the wicked;
you have tested those who call themselves Apostles but are not,
and discovered that they are impostors.
Moreover, you have endurance and have suffered for my name,
and you have not grown weary.
Yet I hold this against you:
you have lost the love you had at first.
Realize how far you have fallen.
Repent, and do the works you did at first.
Otherwise, I will come to you
and remove your lamp stand from its place, unless you repent.”’”

Responsorial Psalm Ps 1:1-2, 3, 4 and 6

R. (Rev. 2:17) Those who are victorious I will feed from the tree of life.
Blessed the man who follows not
the counsel of the wicked
Nor walks in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the company of the insolent,
But delights in the law of the LORD
and meditates on his law day and night.
R. Those who are victorious I will feed from the tree of life.
He is like a tree
planted near running water,
That yields its fruit in due season,
and whose leaves never fade.
Whatever he does, prospers.
R. Those who are victorious I will feed from the tree of life.
Not so the wicked, not so;
they are like chaff which the wind drives away.
For the LORD watches over the way of the just,
but the way of the wicked vanishes.
R. Those who are victorious I will feed from the tree of life.

Gospel Lk 18:35-43

As Jesus approached Jericho
a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging,
and hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what was happening.
They told him,
“Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.”
He shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!”
The people walking in front rebuked him,
telling him to be silent,
but he kept calling out all the more,
“Son of David, have pity on me!”
Then Jesus stopped and ordered that he be brought to him;
and when he came near, Jesus asked him,
“What do you want me to do for you?”
He replied, “Lord, please let me see.”
Jesus told him, “Have sight; your faith has saved you.”
He immediately received his sight
and followed him, giving glory to God.
When they saw this, all the people gave praise to God.

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 11/14/2010

< >< My Prayer >< >

I find fighting off the pull of the ways under the sun a struggle at times; it is like there are days that the more I know and desire to give my time to mine, the more things come up to pull and keep me from doing so, making me feel out of balance with You and mine. I know what I should do – help me Jesus to keep balance in my life as I seek to walk as one with You. Cover my restless spirit with Your calming grace and mercy, help me to find pause during the day to keep in step with the Spirit.

November – “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

Today BASK IN THE LUXURY of being fully understood and unconditionally loved. Dare to see yourself as I see you: radiant in My righteousness, cleansed by My blood. I view you as the one I created you to be, the one you will be in actuality when heaven becomes your home. It is My Life within you that is changing you from glory to glory. Rejoice in this mysterious miracle! Thank Me continually for the amazing gift of My Spirit within you.

Try to depend on the help of the Spirit as you go through this day of life. Pause briefly from time to time so you can consult with this Holy One inside you. He will not force you to do His bidding, but He will guide you as you give Him space in your life. Walk along this wondrous way of collaboration with My Spirit.

Reading 1 Mal 3:19-20a

Lo, the day is coming, blazing like an oven,
when all the proud and all evildoers will be stubble,
and the day that is coming will set them on fire,
leaving them neither root nor branch,
says the LORD of hosts.
But for you who fear my name, there will arise
the sun of justice with its healing rays.

Responsorial Psalm Ps 98:5-6, 7-8, 9

R. (cf. 9) The Lord comes to rule the earth with justice.
Sing praise to the LORD with the harp,
with the harp and melodious song.
With trumpets and the sound of the horn
sing joyfully before the King, the LORD.
R. The Lord comes to rule the earth with justice.
Let the sea and what fills it resound,
the world and those who dwell in it;
let the rivers clap their hands,
the mountains shout with them for joy.
R. The Lord comes to rule the earth with justice.
Before the LORD, for he comes,
for he comes to rule the earth,
He will rule the world with justice
and the peoples with equity.
R. The Lord comes to rule the earth with justice.

Reading 2 2 Thes 3:7-12

Brothers and sisters:
You know how one must imitate us.
For we did not act in a disorderly way among you,
nor did we eat food received free from anyone.
On the contrary, in toil and drudgery, night and day
we worked, so as not to burden any of you.
Not that we do not have the right.
Rather, we wanted to present ourselves as a model for you,
so that you might imitate us.
In fact, when we were with you,
we instructed you that if anyone was unwilling to work,
neither should that one eat.
We hear that some are conducting themselves among you in a
disorderly way,
by not keeping busy but minding the business of others.
Such people we instruct and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to work quietly
and to eat their own food.

Gospel Lk 21:5-19

While some people were speaking about
how the temple was adorned with costly stones and votive offerings,
Jesus said, “All that you see here–
the days will come when there will not be left
a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down.”

Then they asked him,
“Teacher, when will this happen?
And what sign will there be when all these things are about to happen?”
He answered,
“See that you not be deceived,
for many will come in my name, saying,
‘I am he,’ and ‘The time has come.’
Do not follow them!
When you hear of wars and insurrections,
do not be terrified; for such things must happen first,
but it will not immediately be the end.”
Then he said to them,
“Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
There will be powerful earthquakes, famines, and plagues
from place to place;
and awesome sights and mighty signs will come from the sky.

“Before all this happens, however,
they will seize and persecute you,
they will hand you over to the synagogues and to prisons,
and they will have you led before kings and governors
because of my name.
It will lead to your giving testimony.
Remember, you are not to prepare your defense beforehand,
for I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking
that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute.
You will even be handed over by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends,
and they will put some of you to death.
You will be hated by all because of my name,
but not a hair on your head will be destroyed.
By your perseverance you will secure your lives.”
