Words of Jesus

Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation.

Mark 16:15

All our religion is but a false religion, and all our virtues are mere illusions and we ourselves are only hypocrites in the sight of God, if we have not that universal charity for everyone – for the good, and for the bad, for the poor and for the rich, and for all those who do us harm as much as those who do us good.

— St. John Vianney

Abba, Father, Lord God, I come to You today unusually impact by my dreams that last few day. As with most things from which spring from my natural being I now look to You for discernment and counsel; for within me there is still weakness of pride and regret from lack of discipline and control. But on these dreams I tried to follow Your call and while I know the words and ways I handled were from my nature, the calling was from You. So as the Palmist cries out, I accept and know You have 'chastened me sorely, but You have not given me over to death. For You will have helped open to me the gates of righteousness, that I may enter through them and give thanks to You my Lord God.' So I set out to build on that righteousness in the spirit and let go of the nature that only holds me back, with Jesus as my teacher. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Words of Jesus

Jesus said to them, "Children, have you any fish?" They answered him, "No." He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some."

John 21:5=6

"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."

Matthew 6:19-21

You tell me you do not have the time to give two or three hours to prayer; who asks you to do so? No one can be excused from ejaculations because it can be made while coming and going about one's business. Recommend yourself to God the first thing in the morning, protest that you do not wish to offend Him, and then go about your affairs, resolved, nevertheless, to raise your spirit to God, even amidst company.

— St. Francis de Sales

Abba, Father, Lord God, today I look to my Lord Jesus for strength and obedience for I know that an obedient spirit is a strong one, and just as sin separates, obedience units me with You. So I set out this day having spent this time with You, and now I ask Your hand be with me to push, pull, comfort or convict me as I go about this day seeking to honor You and to rise above the busyness and hurries under the sun to stay connected to You. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Words of Jesus

And he said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do questionings rise in your hearts? See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself; handle me, and see; for a spirit has not flesh and bones as you see that I have." And while they still disbelieved for joy, and wondered, he said to them, "Have you anything here to eat?" They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate before them. Then he said to them, "These are my words which I spoke to you, while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled." Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, and said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.

Luke 24:38-48

A Christian has a union with Jesus Christ nobler, more intimate and more perfect than the members of a human body have with their head.

— St. John Eudes

Abba, Father, Lord God, as most everyday again I wake and pray, 'our Father who art in heaven, hollowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done. On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who have trespassed against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil'. Then I begin doing things and being under the sun, most every day I stop offer these prayers to You and read the Bible Readings for today's Mass. But there are day's like yesterday that I do not; whether because I am not able to or just do not, thinking or rationalizing that I do not want to be rushed with You. And then as most days like today I have and take the time. Now there are days in both scenarios that immediately as I resume doing and being I start to disconnect from You, but rarely on those days like yesterday that I feel I stay in Your presence and connected. On these days I see You in everything and Your name even comes up as I do and be. So I say, why? How do I surround myself or place myself with and in, people and circumstances seek what I seek; to be in Your presence all day, every day? So now I ask You Lord God, Abba, Father, help me. Help me find the way to be with You and prosper under the sun. In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit I ask and pray for You to hear me, place me and that Thy will be done. On earth as it is in heaven. Give me this day our daily bread and forgive me my trespasses as I forgive those who have trespassed against me. Lead me not into temptation, but deliver me from evil', Amen.

Words of Jesus

And he said to them, "O foolish men, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?"

Luke 24:25-26

It is blasphemy if you pray before God while you are full of anger.

— St. Ephraem the Syrian

Abba, Father, Lord God, thank You for this day, for hearing me and making it a day of hope; hope not in myself but because I know You are guiding me and I feel in the moment with You. So again I give thanks to You LORD, I call on Your name, make known Your deeds among those You place in my path. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit I give thanks and praise, Amen.

Words of Jesus

For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them."

Matthew 18:20

To be perfect in our vocation is nothing else than to fulfill the duties which our state of life obliges us to perform, and to accomplish them well, and only for the honor and love of God.

— St. Francis de Sales

Abba, Father, Lord God, I praise You when I wake and when I close my eyes; I wake saying 'our Father who art in heaven, hollowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done. On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who have trespassed against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.' This prayer that Jesus taught us lives in my heart and walks with me in my mind, and I like to think with all those I love. So I ask then when we pray it, even if we are apart, You receive and hear our prayer as two or more. And in doing so let us pray more often and more fervently that for the sake of His sorrowful passion You will have mercy on us and on the whole world. That we learn to love, as Jesus does, and that we grow in faith and live in hope. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Words about Jesus

For David says concerning him, `I saw the Lord always before me, for he is at my right hand that I may not be shaken; therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced; moreover my flesh will dwell in hope. For thou wilt not abandon my soul to Hades, nor let thy Holy One see corruption. Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou wilt make me full of gladness with thy presence.'

Acts 2:25-28

We must give alms. Charity wins souls and draws them to virtue.

— St. Angela Merici

Abba, Father, Lord God, my mind is on prayer seeking Your will and asking for Your knowledge and wisdom to guide me through this time of reconciliation and change in my life. For I know I do not want to turn or even look back except to avoid making the same mistakes, but then I do. So I conclude I must start a new with nothing from my past ways under the sun, only looking to You above. For You have taught me the truth in Your Words and the Wisdom of Your Counsel, but I ask You to help me not accept the peace and contentment with You cause me to hold back or avoid doing that which You will. So I now ask You to help me stop measuring myself by ways under the sun, and instead teach me to use and put to work the growth I experience in these moments with You. For I know that each moment with You is better than a thousand elsewhere, but I need Your help for I must serve my children and grandchildren with joy and kindness as a reflection of Jesus in me and I must provide for my wife and family better than I have in the past by becoming a worthy steward of all Your blessings. So in faith and with hope I repeat the words of David today. ' Thou art my Lord; I have no good apart from Thee.' 'You are my chosen portion and my cup; thou holdest my lot. I bless You who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. I keep You always before me; because You are at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my soul rejoices; my body also dwells secure. For thou dost not give me up to Sheol, or let thy godly one see the Pit. Thou dost show me the path of life; in thy presence there is fullness of joy, in thy right hand are pleasures for evermore.' In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Words of Jesus

Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God was coming, he answered them, "The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed; nor will they say, `Lo, here it is!' or `There!' for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you."

Luke 17:20-21

Every virtue in your soul is a precious ornament which makes you dear to God and to man. But holy purity, the queen of virtues, the angelic virtue, is a jewel so precious that those who possess it become like the angels of God in Heaven, even though clothed in mortal flesh.

— St. John Bosco

Abba, Father, Lord God, O Lord Jesus come; fill me with Your Spirit of obedience to God the Father, Your power of prayer, and liken my heart to Yours. Thank you for this day, bless those love ones that are not with me touching their hearts with Your grace and mercy and their spirits with the rest and peace of Your Words of Promise. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
