Now when Jesus saw great crowds around him, he gave orders to go over to the other side. And a scribe came up and said to him, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go." And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head." Another of the disciples said to him, "Lord, let me first go and bury my father." But Jesus said to him, "Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead."

Matthew 8: 18 – 22  
 
The Transfiguration is not only the revelation of Christ’s glory but also a preparation for facing Christ’s cross. It involves both "going up the mountain" and "coming down the mountain." Abba, Father, Lord God, always thankful and grateful, I struggle in confusion trying to separate right from wrong, faith from fear, hope from despair, and unconditional love from conditional love. Help me Father, liken my heart to Jesus and guide my thoughts, and direct my words and actions; strengthen and energize me for the work at hand. Abba, Father, Lord God, ever thankful, but never so as when with my love ones; I try to feel each blessing, but one of the things I ask is for the wisdom and understanding to know and practice what Jesus teaches us today. That when I come across a house not worthy of the peace I seek, that my peace may return to me confident in Jesus, His love, His truths, and that He has overcome, and in and through Him I too can rise above those houses found unworthy under the sun.
