Words written in red; Words of Jesus
But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sad’ducees, they came together.  And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, to test him.  "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?"  And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.  This is the great and first commandment.  And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.  On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets."
Matthew 22: 34 – 40

Be kindhearted to the poor, the unfortunate and the afflicted. Give them as much help and consolation as you can. Thank God for all the benefits he has bestowed upon you, that you may be worthy to receive greater. Always side with the poor rather than with the rich, until you are certain of the truth.
— St. Louis IX

Abba, Father, Lord God, thankful, humble, knowing I am not yet what You want me to be all the time knowing my focus needs to be shifted outward towards serving You in serving others. For in Isaiah You remind and convict me with by asking ‘Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?‘ and showing me that ‘Then shall your light break forth like the dawn, and your healing shall spring up speedily; your righteousness shall go before you, the glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.‘ And the Psalmist proclaims ‘For the righteous will never be moved; he will be remembered for ever. He is not afraid of evil tidings; his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD.  His heart is steady, he will not be afraid, until he sees his desire on his adversaries.‘ O that You would bless me and mine indeed, calling us into service for You, enlarging our territory, laying Your hand upon us to protect and keep us from evil and from causing pain. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Audio books I am listening to and other books or readings I am reading:
When I Lay My Isaac Down: Unshakable Faith in Unthinkable Circumstances (Unabridged) By: Carol Kent Sometimes we make sacrifices to help us get ahead, to allow us more time with family, or because we believe in the cause. And then there are sacrifices in which we have no say, "Isaac experiences" as in Genesis 22, thrust upon us without warning or survival instructions. This audio book outlines eight transformational power principles that Gene and Carol Kent learned in the process of facing the news that forever changed their lives.
Becoming a Person of Influence By: John C. Maxwell and Jim Dornan "You can immediately [sense a] spark when you hear John Maxwell and Jim Dornan talk about leadership. Their understanding of influence is like mine for guitars; it’s woven into the fabric of their being." – (Bob Taylor, President, Taylor Guitars). With influence, you can achieve success at home, work, and in every other area of life.
