Words written in red; Words of Jesus
At that time Jesus declared, "I thank thee, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to babes; yea, Father, for such was thy gracious will. All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
Matthew 11: 25 – 30

You should never praise anyone until you see how he turns out in the end!
— St. Francis of Assisi

Abba, Father, Lord God, just as St. Francis advises us not to praise anyone until we see how he turns out in the end; we should never stop seeking, stop prayer and stop asking for we never know what You have prepared for us next. So with eyes of faith we must hold on and move on persevering until the end in the Spirit at the foot of the Cross when we stand face to face with You and Jesus at Your right side. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

14 But far be it from me to glory except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. 15 For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. 16 Peace and mercy be upon all who walk by this rule, upon the Israel of God. 17 Henceforth let no man trouble me; for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. 18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brethren. Amen.
Matthew 11:25-30

"Woe to you, Chora’zin! woe to you, Beth-sa’ida! for if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it shall be more tolerable in the judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you. And you, Caper’na-um, will you be exalted to heaven? You shall be brought down to Hades. "He who hears you hears me, and he who rejects you rejects me, and he who rejects me rejects him who sent me."
Luke 10: 13 – 16

— St. Elizabeth Ann Seton

Abba, Father, Lord God, looking back at this days readings I am inspired again by the thought and words of Job; and reminded by St. Elizabeth Ann Seton that my biggest weakness, the love of talk which distracts me from what I know I should do by focuses all the powers of my soul which as You as my source of source, until the peaceful meditation of from Your presence covers me. Forgive my weakness which separates by refusing to find strength in my humility and courage through and in Jesus teachings. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Words written in red; Words of Jesus

"Hear another parable. There was a householder who planted a vineyard, and set a hedge around it, and dug a wine press in it, and built a tower, and let it out to tenants, and went into another country. When the season of fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants, to get his fruit; and the tenants took his servants and beat one, killed another, and stoned another. Again he sent other servants, more than the first; and they did the same to them. Afterward he sent his son to them, saying, `They will respect my son.' But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves, `This is the heir; come, let us kill him and have his inheritance.' And they took him and cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. When therefore the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants?" They said to him, "He will put those wretches to a miserable death, and let out the vineyard to other tenants who will give him the fruits in their seasons." Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the scriptures: `The very stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner; this was the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes'? Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation producing the fruits of it."

Matthew 21: 33 – 43

The purest suffering bears and carries in its train the purest understanding.

— St. John of the Cross

Abba, Father, Lord God, seeking awareness by being present in the moment, always counting my blessings and giving thanks and praise to You, and dying to myself for and in humility, I know it is You that makes me special, it is You that keeps me grounded, it is You that through the Spirit in Jesus even in dark, lonely and droughtful times gives me faith, hope and love to walk on. O for the sake of His sorrowful passion have mercy on us and on the whole world. In Jesus' name I ask and pray for eyes of faith, hope fueled by dreams and a heart likened to His for purest of understanding of Your will for me, Amen.

7 For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah are his pleasant planting; and he looked for justice, but behold, bloodshed; for righteousness, but behold, a cry!

6 Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, do; and the God of peace will be with you.

Words written in red; Words of Jesus

At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them, and said, "Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. "Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me; "See that you do not despise one of these little ones; for I tell you that in heaven their angels always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 18: 1 – 5, 10

No one should feel secure in this life, because the whole of it is one long test; and no one who is able to pass from a worse state to a better one can be certain that he will not later pass from a better state to a worse. Our only hope, our only confidence, our only assured promise, Lord, is Your mercy.

— St. Augustine

Abba, Father, Lord God, grateful for Your blessings, humbled by the reflection in the mirror; Your inspired words of St. Augustine combined with the Words of my Lord Jesus are clear! O for the sake of His sorrowful passion have mercy on us and on the whole world. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

When the days drew near for him to be received up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem. And he sent messengers ahead of him, who went and entered a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him; but the people would not receive him, because his face was set toward Jerusalem. And when his disciples James and John saw it, they said, "Lord, do you want us to bid fire come down from heaven and consume them?"

But he turned and rebuked them. And they went on to another village.

Vigilance and prayer are the safeguards of chastity. You should pray often and fervently to be preserved from temptations against purity, and for the grace to overcome them.

Abba, Father, Lord God, O if I good but have the faith and love for of Job. For all I know and all I feel, my walk burdens me and yet I have so much to be grateful for! Words written in red; Words of Jesus

Jesus saw Nathan'a-el coming to him, and said of him, "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!" Nathan'a-el said to him, "How do you know me?" Jesus answered him, "Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you." Nathan'a-el answered him, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!" Jesus answered him, "Because I said to you, I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You shall see greater things than these." And he said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man."

John 1: 47 – 51

The saints were so completely dead to themselves they cared very little whether others agreed with them or not!

— St. John Vianney

Abba, Father, Lord God, humble and grateful that despite my weaknesses and waywardly walk You bless me so and through Jesus in the Spirit touch and convict me as I have asked and prayed. Jesus said the path is hard and the doorway is narrow and many that hear will find it a harder walk with Him than without Him under the sun. But You have shown me that through Jesus in the Spirit You are with me to guide me if I seek You, to direct me if I ask You, to comfort me if I need You. O that You would continue to bless me and mine. Enlarge our territory for You. Let Your grace and mercy rain down upon us, keeping us from evil and from causing pain. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
