The Words of Jesus of Nazareth
On Being Born a Second Time
Do not marvel when I tell you that you must be born anew.
Truly, I tell you: unless you are born anew, you will not see the kingdom of God. Unless you are born of water and the breath of God, you will not enter into the kingdom of God.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the breath of God is spirit. The wind blows where it wishes, and we hear the sound that it makes; still we do not know from where it comes, or where it will go. So it is for those who are born anew by the breath of God.

Abba, Father, Lord God, I know You are at work within me because I look within first when stumbling, falling or confronting disappointment, loss or conflict; what could I have done different? What did I fail to do? What did I do wrong? And even when I feel right I seek first to be humbled at the foot of the Cross where I can only empty myself and pray that You would help me by likening my heart to Jesus’ and never counting myself above anyone. Dying to myself and leaving the physical being born and raised under the sun behind and rising in spirit with Jesus to soaring above the ways and things under the sun that bind and in slave me to what I have been, to keep me from being what I am. I am a child of You Lord God reborn in the Spirit through Jesus my Lord and Savior, my teacher and counselor, my compass and benchmark for measuring my growth in the Spirit and my reflection and likeness to His image. I must continue to fight what seems logical under the Sun and embrace what seems impossible under the Sun, knowing anything is possible if asked in His name, seeking His heart, image and will first. In the name of the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, Amen.

18 For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, live as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 Their end is destruction, their god is the belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things. 20 But our commonwealth is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will change our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power which enables him even to subject all things to himself.
Psalm 122:1-5
Luke 16:1-8
1 He also said to the disciples, "There was a rich man who had a steward, and charges were brought to him that this man was wasting his goods. 2 And he called him and said to him, `What is this that I hear about you? Turn in the account of your stewardship, for you can no longer be steward.’ 3 And the steward said to himself, `What shall I do, since my master is taking the stewardship away from me? I am not strong enough to dig, and I am ashamed to beg. 4 I have decided what to do, so that people may receive me into their houses when I am put out of the stewardship.’ 5 So, summoning his master’s debtors one by one, he said to the first, `How much do you owe my master?’ 6 He said, `A hundred measures of oil.’ And he said to him, `Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.’ 7 Then he said to another, `And how much do you owe?’ He said, `A hundred measures of wheat.’ He said to him, `Take your bill, and write eighty.’ 8 The master commended the dishonest steward for his shrewdness; for the sons of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own generation than the sons of light.

The Pontiff in Winter: Triumph and Conflict in the Reign of John Paul II By John Cornwell Narrated by John Lee – Pope John Paul II is one of the most famous and influential political figures of the world. Now, best-selling author and journalist John Cornwell has written an accessible and provocative portrait of this highly charged figure, focusing primarily on the last five years and the major world events, and scandals within the Church that have impacted the papacy. The result is a thoughtful assessment of John Paul II’s legacy to the Church. In an age when many people see the Catholic Church as an institution in crisis, Cornwell raises the level of debate by posing difficult questions; chief among them is the effectiveness of a system that grants lifetime power to an individual vulnerable to the vicissitudes of aging and illness.
