Holy Week Timeline – whatever things are true,… if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy –meditate on these things.

April 15, 2019

Today my One Walk with Jesus continues through Holy Week with reflecting on His actions on Monday, the day after His triumphant entry.

Some thoughts…

‘It’s so hard to be good!’ And so we have to practice. It is hard to become a concert pianist. It is hard to become an expert surgeon. It is hard to become an outstanding ballerina. We have to practice and practice and practice. If this is true of the worldly arts, it is more true of the art of spiritual fidelity.
Mother Mary Francis P.C.C.
from A Time of Renewal: Daily Reflections for the Lenten Season
Daily Catholic Wisdom

When you look the right way–toward what is true, noble, lovely–you are encouraged and strengthened.
Quotation Mark from Jesus Today, page 20.

A verse…

Finally brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy–meditate on these things.
Philippians 4:8 NKJV

On Monday… Jesus Clears the Temple

The following morning, Jesus returned with his disciples to Jerusalem. Along the way, he cursed a fig tree because it had failed to bear fruit. Some scholars believe this cursing of the fig tree represented God’s judgment on the spiritually dead religious leaders of Israel. Others believe the symbolism extended to all believers, demonstrating that genuine faith is more than just outward religiosity; true, living faith must bear spiritual fruit in a person’s life.

When Jesus arrived at the Temple, he found the courts full of corrupt money changers. He began overturning their tables and clearing the Temple, saying, "The Scriptures declare, ‘My Temple will be a house of prayer,’ but you have turned it into a den of thieves" (Luke 19:46).

On Monday evening Jesus stayed in Bethany again, probably in the home of his friends, Mary, Martha, and Lazarus.

Monday’s events are recorded in Matthew 21:12–22, Mark 11:15–19, Luke 19:45-48, and John 2:13-17.

The Words written in red...

I believe everyone should read the Bible, or start with the New Testament from beginning to end, or at least start with the four Gospels starting with John, Luke, Matthew and Mark. Or the Words written in red, those spoken by Jesus. You can do this with The Words Jesus of Nazareth, compiled by Lee Cantelon. Read Jesus’ words thematically, in clear and modern English, for non-Christians, spiritual seekers, agnostics and believers.

A prayer…

Dear Lord God, Abba Father, Jesus my Savior, thank You for Your love, forgiveness and blessings. Help me walk with Jesus through His Passion, meditating on each event and word. Give me passion for His truth and understanding and wisdom to apply it in my walk. Let this post touch someone in need and awaken them to Your love and truths. In Jesus name I pray. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Holy Week… “The Portal of the Mystery of Hope” by Charles Péguy

April 14, 2019

One Walk with Jesus is about accepting a love we will never understand, and surrendering in kind to it…

A thought…

He who loves becomes the slave of the one he loves.
God did not care to evade this universal law.
And by this love He becomes the slave of the sinner.
The overturning of creation, it’s creation upside-down.
The Creator now depends upon His creature.
. . . As the victim surrenders his hands to the executioner,

So Jesus has abandoned Himself to us.
As the prisoner abandons himself to the prison guard,
So God has abandoned Himself to us.
As the least of the sinners was able to slap Jesus,
And it had to be so,
So the least of the sinners, a miserable, weak creature,
The tiniest of sinners is able to bring to failure,
is able to bring to fulfillment
A hope of God;
The tiniest of sinners is able to uncrown, is able to crown
A hope of God;
The tiniest of sinners is able to uncrown, is able to crown
A hope of God.
And it’s from us that God awaits

The crowning or the uncrowning of one of His hopes.

“The Portal of the Mystery of Hope” by Charles Péguy. From A Sunday of Victory and Suffering

A verse…

All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on him the sins of us all.
Isaiah 53:6 NLT

A prayer…

Dear Lord God, Abba Father, Jesus my Savior, thank You. Let Your love continue to grow in me and mine until it overwhelms us in every moment of our daily walk. In Jesus name I pray. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

A prayer…

Dear Lord God, Abba Father, Jesus my Savior, thank You for Your gift of life. For today and for all Your blessings. For all You bring my way to touch and remind me of Your love and ‘passion’ for us. Oh that this coming week will touch and open the hearts of those in need of a savior. And awaken those saved but a sleep in the busyness of daily life. In Jesus name I pray. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Revival Hymn – A call to Christain’s to wake up! You

For me One Walk with Jesus is about surrounding myself in all things about Him. To fight to focus on Him. Holy Week is next week, what better time to start a revival!

A thought…

The more man freely chooses to sin and place his own truth above God’s truth, and the more sin becomes a habit and vice, the more man becomes enslaved to the fleeting goods of this world; he becomes bound to disordered love and constrained by disordered attachments. In this way sin establishes an addictive pattern that keeps men from conforming to the truth of their being.

we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world,

April 10, 2019

For One Walk with Jesus, you must understand this…

A verse or two…

…we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
Ephesians 6:12 NLT

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
Romans 8:37 NKJV

On Haven Today…
Singing New Songs
The Bible teaches that our greatest struggle is against the dark spiritual forces of the world. But it also says we are more than conquerors through Jesus who loves us. Find out how to communicate this truth to children on the next HAVEN Today as Charles Morris continues in a series called “Singing New Songs with Randall Goodgame.”

A thought…

Let us not settle for spirituality-lite, where we seek ‘feel good’ spirituality that kills the life of God within us. When this happens, we will use the labyrinth instead of the Stations of the Cross, astrology instead of the Rosary, and tarot cards instead of Eucharistic Adoration. It is the Blood of the Lamb that redeems us!
Deacon Harold Burke-Sivers
from Behold the Man: A Catholic Vision of Male Spirituality

A prayer…

Dear Lord God, Abba Father, Jesus my Savior, thank You for today and all Your blessings and answered prayers. I ask that You awaken us to our real enemy and teaching us the truth in Your Word and giving us the confidence that is ours in Jesus. In Jesus name I pray. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!

April 9, 2019

My One Walk with Jesus is about staying on fire for Him

A verse…

"I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!

A thought…

For the sake of the world, for our own sakes, and for the sake of God, we desperately need, as individuals and as a Church, not to behave as if what we have in the way of spiritual or material goods is due to our own merit or a result of our own will or strength. Rather, it is the pure grace of God
Ralph Martin
from Fulfillment of All Desire

A prayer…

Dear Lord God, Abba Father, Jesus my Savior, thank You for today and for Your continued blessings. For all You bring my way throughout the day to keep me focused and on fire for You, no matter what. Thank You. In Jesus name I pray. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
