Gospel MT 5:17-19
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets.
I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.
Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away,
not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter
will pass from the law,
until all things have taken place.
Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments
and teaches others to do so
will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven.
But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments
will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.”

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, thank You for reminding me to just rest in You. Relax in Your presence, not just now but throughout the day. Taking a break from the craziness of the world. Trusting in Your will, will be done and in the promises of Your Words.
Counting every blessing, giving thanks always. For in Your presence is where I am able to see what You want me to see, hear what You want me to hear and feel how You want me to feel.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls. In Jesus name I pray. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Apostles (Nicene) Creed

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.
Amen.

Lords Prayer

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.
Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory be to the Father

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.

O my Jesus

O my Jesus, have mercy on us. Forgive us our sins. Save us from the fires of hell. Take all souls into heaven, especially, those most in need of thy mercy.
Amen.

Today’s Gospel…

Jesus said to his disciples:
“You are the salt of the earth.
But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned?
It is no longer good for anything
but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
You are the light of the world.
A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.
Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket;
it is set on a lampstand,
where it gives light to all in the house.
Just so, your light must shine before others,
that they may see your good deeds
and glorify your heavenly Father.”

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, thank You for walking with me and helping me stay salty. For lighting my path and showing me how I must be a light for others.
I count every blessing, especially each of mine. So I can only imagine the hurt and pain of losing a love one suddenly, even more if the result of violence, and especially violence born of hate and evil.
The world likes darkness. It uses darkness to hide the truth. To mislead and confuse the lost and hopeless.
But You Lord are truth, and in You there is hope. We need You now Lord. We need a Strong God, now. Hear my prayer. Touch and help me and mine touch someone for You Lord.

Gospel Matthew 5:1-12

When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain,
and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him.
He began to teach them, saying:
“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the land.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the clean of heart,
for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you
and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me.
Rejoice and be glad,
for your reward will be great in heaven.
Thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, thank You walking with me. Keeping me aware of Your presence. Through each blessing and each of mine.
For the days are long and the weeks longer. I find my rest in You. Knowing as St. Paul writes to the Corinthians… Your grace is sufficient for me, for Your power is made perfect my weakness. Use me to teach mine and others this truth. To seek You, and find rest and peace with You.
Hear my prayers for mine, those hurting and persecuted, my country and the whole world, for Your Church. May Your will be done, and May our peace come from our certainty of eternity with You.

FIRST READING Exodus 34:4b–6, 8–9

Early in the morning Moses went up Mount Sinai as the LORD had commanded him, taking along the two stone tablets.
Having come down in a cloud, the LORD stood with Moses there and proclaimed his name, “LORD.” Thus the LORD passed before him and cried out, “The LORD, the LORD, a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger and rich in kindness and fidelity.” Moses at once bowed down to the ground in worship. Then he said, “If I find favor with you, O LORD, do come along in our company. This is indeed a stiff-necked people; yet pardon our wickedness and sins, and receive us as your own.”

SECOND READING 2 Corinthians 13:11–13

Brothers and sisters, rejoice. Mend your ways, encourage one another, agree with one another, live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you. Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the holy ones greet you.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.

GOSPEL John 3:16–18

God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him will not be condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, thank You today’s readings. For each of mine. For this Country with all it’s flaws. For this world with all it’s problems. Hear me Lord God in Jesus name I pray…
For our children, and their children, and theirs… I pray that you will bless them with an ear for Your Word, with eyes of faith and a heart likened to Yours. Like so many of us, I failed them when they were young and most open to truth. Before our ways, rather than Your ways, began to influence and separate them from You, and Your Truths. But I believe You are the God Almighty, full of love. So much love that Your gave up Your only Son for us. And He lived and walked among us, taught us, was crucified and died for us. And now through the Holy Spirit lives within us. These things I do believe and so I ask that You draw them to You now. Make Your Truth known to them.
For our country and the whole world… ruled by the evil one. I pray for all sleepers with wake up. To break their silence and find the courage needed to stand up, defend and proclaim their faith. To fight against evil in all its forms. To love over hate. To seek peace and Jesus over all else.
For Jesus’s Church, like a ship taking us across the sea of life towards eternity with Him… I pray that all the false shepherds be revealed to us. That we seek Truth. That we follow Jesus above the dogma, rituals, history and traditions created by man. Always remembering the Words of Jesus from Mark 9:40. “For the one who is not against us is for us.”

Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls. In Jesus name I pray. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Gospel Mark 12:38-44

In the course of his teaching Jesus said,
“Beware of the scribes, who like to go around in long robes
and accept greetings in the marketplaces,
seats of honor in synagogues,
and places of honor at banquets.
They devour the houses of widows and, as a pretext,
recite lengthy prayers.
They will receive a very severe condemnation.”
He sat down opposite the treasury
and observed how the crowd put money into the treasury.
Many rich people put in large sums.
A poor widow also came and put in two small coins worth a few cents.
Calling his disciples to himself, he said to them,
“Amen, I say to you, this poor widow put in more
than all the other contributors to the treasury.
For they have all contributed from their surplus wealth,
but she, from her poverty, has contributed all she had,
her whole livelihood.”

Amen.

Discerning the times – All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness… 2 Timothy 3:16

June 5, 2020

One Walk with Jesus is about cultivating a discerning mind and heart. Praying for eyes that see what He sees, ears that hear what He hears, and a heart likened to His. The time we live in is full of false shepherds, fake news and self serving leaders. #PrayForDiscernment #seekJesus #seekTruth

Today’s verse…

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching,

Reading 1 2 Timothy 3:10-17

You have followed my teaching, way of life,
purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, persecutions,
and sufferings, such as happened to me
in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra,
persecutions that I endured.
Yet from all these things the Lord delivered me.
In fact, all who want to live religiously in Christ Jesus
will be persecuted.
But wicked people and charlatans will go from bad to worse,
deceivers and deceived.
But you, remain faithful to what you have learned and believed,
because you know from whom you learned it,
and that from infancy you have known the sacred Scriptures,
which are capable of giving you wisdom for salvation
through faith in Christ Jesus.
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching,
for refutation, for correction,
and for training in righteousness,
so that one who belongs to God may be competent,
equipped for every good work.

Alleluia John 14:23

Whoever loves me will keep my word,
and my Father will love him and we will come to him.

Gospel Mark 12:35-37

As Jesus was teaching in the temple area he said,
“How do the scribes claim that the Christ is the son of David?
David himself, inspired by the Holy Spirit, said:
The Lord said to my lord,
‘Sit at my right hand
until I place your enemies under your feet.’
David himself calls him ‘lord’;
so how is he his son?”
The great crowd heard this with delight.

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, thank You today’s readings show me the need to stay in and study Your Word.
We live in times of false shepherds, fake news and self serving leaders. Corrupted by a thirst for power they have sold their souls to the devil.
I pray for discernment; for eyes that see what You see, ears that hear what You hear, and a heart likened to Yours. Hear me, Grant my prayer for me and mine as well as all those that seek to follow Jesus.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls. In Jesus name I pray. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Daily Catholic Wisdom…

In the morning I watched the sun as it was born and in the evening as it set. And I thought that if it was beautiful, how much more beautiful must be the one who had made it.
St. Josephine Bakhita
from Bakhita: From Slave to Saint

Today’s verse…

Jesus replied, “The first is this:
Hear, O Israel!
The Lord our God is Lord alone!
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul, with all your mind,
and with all your strength.
The second is this:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Reading 1 2 Timothy 2:8-15

Beloved:
Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, a descendant of David:
such is my Gospel, for which I am suffering,
even to the point of chains, like a criminal.
But the word of God is not chained.
Therefore, I bear with everything for the sake of those who are chosen,
so that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus,
together with eternal glory.
This saying is trustworthy:
If we have died with him
we shall also live with him;
if we persevere
we shall also reign with him.
But if we deny him
he will deny us.
If we are unfaithful
he remains faithful,
for he cannot deny himself.
Remind people of these things
and charge them before God to stop disputing about words.
This serves no useful purpose since it harms those who listen.
Be eager to present yourself as acceptable to God,
a workman who causes no disgrace,
imparting the word of truth without deviation.

Gospel Mark 12:28-34

One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked him,
“Which is the first of all the commandments?”
The scribe said to him, “Well said, teacher.
You are right in saying,
He is One and there is no other than he.
And to love him with all your heart,
with all your understanding,
with all your strength,
and to love your neighbor as yourself
is worth more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
And when Jesus saw that he answered with understanding,
he said to him, “You are not far from the Kingdom of God.”
And no one dared to ask him any more questions.

Jesus Calling…

Instead of striving for a predictable, safe lifestyle, seek to know Me in greater depth and breadth.
from Dear Jesus

And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.
Ephesians 3:17-18

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, thank You for today’s readings and worship song. Reminders that on earth as in heaven. The love of Jesus overcomes the hate of the evil one in this world. But we must commit to know and follow Him. Practice His presence. Study His Words. Stay focused and surrounded in Him. And seek His truth.
For the evil one is wise in deception and master of lies. Knowing how to divide and turn us against each other. Using our weaknesses to separate and destroy. But through You Lord, we are made strong in our weakness.
Open our eyes and ears to Your truths. Hear our cries for grace and mercy. Only in You Lord. Only through You Lord. Only because of You Lord.
Oh Jesus You can save us. From the evil one and ourselves.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls. In Jesus name I pray. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
