Gospel John 21:1-14

Jesus revealed himself again to his disciples at the Sea of Tiberias.
He revealed himself in this way.
Together were Simon Peter, Thomas called Didymus,
Nathanael from Cana in Galilee,
Zebedee’s sons, and two others of his disciples.
Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.”
They said to him, “We also will come with you.”
So they went out and got into the boat,
but that night they caught nothing.
When it was already dawn, Jesus was standing on the shore;
but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.
Jesus said to them, “Children, have you caught anything to eat?”
They answered him, “No.”
So he said to them, “Cast the net over the right side of the boat
and you will find something.”
So they cast it, and were not able to pull it in
because of the number of fish.
So the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord.”
When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord,
he tucked in his garment, for he was lightly clad,
and jumped into the sea.
The other disciples came in the boat,
for they were not far from shore, only about a hundred yards,
dragging the net with the fish.
When they climbed out on shore,
they saw a charcoal fire with fish on it and bread.
Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you just caught.”
So Simon Peter went over and dragged the net ashore
full of one hundred fifty-three large fish.
Even though there were so many, the net was not torn.
Jesus said to them, “Come, have breakfast.”
And none of the disciples dared to ask him, “Who are you?”
because they realized it was the Lord.
Jesus came over and took the bread and gave it to them,
and in like manner the fish.
This was now the third time Jesus was revealed to his disciples
after being raised from the dead.

Swim After Him

When Peter sees that it is the Lord who is calling from the shore, he jumps into the water and swims after his risen Rabbi. When Peter finally reaches dry land, we see that Jesus is sitting next to a charcoal fire, reminding us of the apostle’s threefold denial. At this fire, however, Peter will be restored and thus truly become a fisher of men. Today, let us pray for the same desire for Christ that we find in Peter.

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me. Thank You for today. For each blessing and each of mine. Oh how I rejoice in starting each day with You Lord. Though I don’t always get to do all I to, I fight to walk with You. For I know You are with me and mine, and theirs protecting and blessing us through our walk. And so I pray, that each or us and all those in need of Your blessings, protection and blessings. Hear my prayer. Teach us to be ‘fishers of men’.
Guide us through our daily walk.
Not our will, but Yours Lord God.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls.
In Jesus name I pray.

As the crippled man who had been cured clung to Peter and John,
all the people hurried in amazement toward them
in the portico called “Solomon’s Portico.”
When Peter saw this, he addressed the people,
“You children of Israel, why are you amazed at this,
and why do you look so intently at us
as if we had made him walk by our own power or piety?
The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob,
the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus
whom you handed over and denied in Pilate’s presence,
when he had decided to release him.
You denied the Holy and Righteous One
and asked that a murderer be released to you.
The author of life you put to death,
but God raised him from the dead; of this we are witnesses.

The disciples of Jesus recounted what had taken place along the way,
and how they had come to recognize him in the breaking of bread.

But they were startled and terrified
and thought that they were seeing a ghost.
Then he said to them, “Why are you troubled?
And why do questions arise in your hearts?
Look at my hands and my feet, that it is I myself.
Touch me and see, because a ghost does not have flesh and bones
as you can see I have.”

he showed them his hands and his feet.
While they were still incredulous for joy and were amazed,

A New Hope

When the disciples saw the Risen Christ, they thought it was a ghost or apparition of some sort. Yet when the Lord showed them his wounds and asked for baked fish, the disciples were overwhelmed with joy. In this scene, we see the reward each of us hope for. If we follow the Way, we too will receive glorified bodies and even dine alongside the Lord.

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me. Thank You for walking with me and mine. For the hidden signs of Your presence throughout each day. And for making sure I see them.
I pray that mine, theirs and others will open their eyes for You, and see hidden signs of Your presence too. Trusting You, Jesus, to always do the most perfect thing. Not what we expect or hope for, but what You know is best. Then turning to You for help and understanding to follow You accordingly. With boldness and fire.
Not our will, but Yours Lord God.

Reading I Acts 3:1-10

Peter and John were going up to the temple area
for the three o’clock hour of prayer.
And a man crippled from birth was carried
and placed at the gate of the temple called “the Beautiful Gate” every day
to beg for alms from the people who entered the temple.
When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple,
he asked for alms.
But Peter looked intently at him, as did John,
and said, “Look at us.”
He paid attention to them, expecting to receive something from them.
Peter said, “I have neither silver nor gold,
but what I do have I give you:
in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazorean, rise and walk.”
Then Peter took him by the right hand and raised him up,
and immediately his feet and ankles grew strong.
He leaped up, stood, and walked around,
and went into the temple with them,
walking and jumping and praising God.
When all the people saw him walking and praising God,
they recognized him as the one
who used to sit begging at the Beautiful Gate of the temple,
and they were filled with amazement and astonishment
at what had happened to him.

Gospel Luke 24:13-35

That very day, the first day of the week,
two of Jesus’ disciples were going
to a village seven miles from Jerusalem called Emmaus,
and they were conversing about all the things that had occurred.
And it happened that while they were conversing and debating,
Jesus himself drew near and walked with them,
but their eyes were prevented from recognizing him.
He asked them,
“What are you discussing as you walk along?”
They stopped, looking downcast.
One of them, named Cleopas, said to him in reply,
“Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem
who does not know of the things
that have taken place there in these days?”
And he replied to them, “What sort of things?”
They said to him,
“The things that happened to Jesus the Nazarene,
who was a prophet mighty in deed and word
before God and all the people,
how our chief priests and rulers both handed him over
to a sentence of death and crucified him.
But we were hoping that he would be the one to redeem Israel;
and besides all this,
it is now the third day since this took place.
Some women from our group, however, have astounded us:
they were at the tomb early in the morning
and did not find his Body;
they came back and reported
that they had indeed seen a vision of angels
who announced that he was alive.
Then some of those with us went to the tomb
and found things just as the women had described,
but him they did not see.”
And he said to them, “Oh, how foolish you are!
How slow of heart to believe all that the prophets spoke!
Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things
and enter into his glory?”
Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets,
he interpreted to them what referred to him
in all the Scriptures.
As they approached the village to which they were going,
he gave the impression that he was going on farther.
But they urged him, “Stay with us,
for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.”
So he went in to stay with them.
And it happened that, while he was with them at table,
he took bread, said the blessing,
broke it, and gave it to them.
With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him,
but he vanished from their sight.
Then they said to each other,
“Were not our hearts burning within us
while he spoke to us on the way and opened the Scriptures to us?”
So they set out at once and returned to Jerusalem
where they found gathered together
the Eleven and those with them who were saying,
“The Lord has truly been raised and has appeared to Simon!”
Then the two recounted what had taken place on the way
and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.

Joy Is Our Net

In today’s reading from the Acts of the Apostles, Peter heals a beggar who had been lame since birth. In doing so, the fisherman sheds light on why this man was subjected to such a lifelong trial. It is so that this beggar, through his newfound ability to walk, may become a joyful witness to Christ’s Resurrection. How is the Lord giving you the opportunity to be a joyful witness?

Today’s Action Item: Be a joyful witness of the Resurrection.

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me. Thank You for opening my eyes today. Now hear my prayer… help me to react with joyful love to everything, with everyone, at every time, in every way. To take my One Walk with Jesus to it’s fullest witness. To be so at one with Jesus that nothing knocks me out of my joy of His presence. Knowing that in every thought, expression and word I am reflecting His presence or absence.
This is my prayer Lord, hear me. Help me shown mine, each of theirs and everyone You put in my path. I run to You Lord. I’m finished with fighting.
Not my will, but Yours Lord God.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls.

Mary Magdalene stayed outside the tomb weeping.
And as she wept, she bent over into the tomb
and saw two angels in white sitting there,
one at the head and one at the feet

And they said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?”
She said to them, “They have taken my Lord,
and I don’t know where they laid him.”
When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus there,
but did not know it was Jesus.

She thought it was the gardener and said to him,

Mary Magdalene encounters the Risen Lord who reveals himself to her. After this encounter, Jesus instructs her to go and tell his disciples a message. Mary then goes to the disciples and tells them, "I have seen the Lord." This is the essence of all evangelization—to share with others your encounters with God!

Today’s Action Item: Meditate on the Resurrection.

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me. Thank You for loving us enough. Help us to meditate on Your Resurrection, and teach us all the ways we can share the Good News is Your Gospel. Give us the right words, for the right moments to share what You have done for us with others.
Your blessings are beyond measure and Your grace and mercy never ending.
This is why I must come to each morning, to start my day with You. To start my day with You, in Your Word and in prayer for me and mine, and each of theirs. And all those in need of knowing You as I do. So hear my prayers Lord.
Not my will, but Yours Lord God.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls.
In Jesus name I pray.

“You who are Jews, indeed all of you staying in Jerusalem.
Let this be known to you, and listen to my words.
“You who are children of Israel, hear these words.
Jesus the Nazorean was a man commended to you by God
with mighty deeds, wonders, and signs,
which God worked through him in your midst, as you yourselves know.
This man, delivered up by the set plan and foreknowledge of God,
you killed, using lawless men to crucify him.
But God raised him up, releasing him from the throes of death,
because it was impossible for him to be held by it.
For David says of him:

and told the chief priests all that had happened.
The chief priests assembled with the elders and took counsel;

‘His disciples came by night and stole him while we were asleep.’
And if this gets to the ears of the governor,
we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.”
The soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed.

Gospel John 20:1-9

On the first day of the week,
Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning,
while it was still dark,
and saw the stone removed from the tomb.
So she ran and went to Simon Peter
and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and told them,
“They have taken the Lord from the tomb,
and we don’t know where they put him.”
So Peter and the other disciple went out and came to the tomb.
They both ran, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter
and arrived at the tomb first;
he bent down and saw the burial cloths there, but did not go in.
When Simon Peter arrived after him,
he went into the tomb and saw the burial cloths there,
and the cloth that had covered his head,
not with the burial cloths but rolled up in a separate place.
Then the other disciple also went in,
the one who had arrived at the tomb first,
and he saw and believed.
For they did not yet understand the Scripture
that he had to rise from the dead.

Sacred Silence

On Holy Saturday, Jesus takes on the silence of death as he lays in the tomb. We are called to imitate Christ’s silence today as we await his Resurrection. Take time today to be silent, reflecting on the fact that the Son of God, Jesus, died so that you might share in his eternal life.
