The Words of Jesus of Nazareth by Lee Cantelon

A Place for You

I go to prepare a place for you.

Know this: if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and take you to be there with me; so that where I am, there you may be also. Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I must go away, but I will come again to you. If you truly loved me you would rejoice, because I return to the Father.

V

Abba, Father, Lord God, thankful, yet humble that t is by Your grace and mercy alone that I walk, I do ask and pray for Your blessings indeed. That your hand would be with me and mine to keep us from evil and from causing pain. I pray that You would touch our hearts through the spirit of the Advent season awakening us to the importance to put and keep Jesus at the center of our Christmas; and that through and in Jesus take refuge in His love and passion for us by doing Your will for us first, above our desires, above all. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Isaiah 26:1-6
Psalm 118:1, 8-9, 19-21, 25-27

8  It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to put confidence in man.  21  I thank thee that thou hast answered me and hast become my salvation.
Matthew 7:21, 24-27

21  "Not every one who says to me, `Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.  24  "Every one then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house upon the rock;  25  and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.  26  And every one who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house upon the sand;  27  and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell; and great was the fall of it."

There’s No Such Thing as "Business" Ethics (Unabridged) Best-selling author and expert on leadership John C. Maxwell claims there is only one rule for business. How does a person judge what is ethical? Sometimes it’s clear. You know Enron’s leaders were in the wrong. But is it always easy to see where the line is in your life? What’s the standard? And can it work in all situations? John C. Maxwell thinks it can. When the New York Times best-selling author, successful businessman, and former pastor was asked about his thoughts on business ethics, his response was, "There’s no such thing. There’s only ethics." Maxwell asserts there’s one ethical standard for all behavior. And you might be surprised by what it’s based on. Did you know that a variation of the Golden Rule exists in every major religion? In There’s No Such Thing as Business Ethics, Maxwell shows how people can live with integrity by using the Golden Rule as their standard (regardless of religion, culture, or circumstances). Along the way, he delves into the desires of the human heart, reveals the five most common causes that get people off track ethically, and teaches how to develop the Midas touch when it comes to integrity.

Take Heed: Beware of living your life on religious "food." By now you have certainly forgotten… the seven loaves that fed the four thousand and the plenty that remained. But I am not speaking to you about earthly food.

The Problem of Religion

Take Heed: Beware of living your life on religious “food.”

By now you have certainly forgotten the five loaves that fed the five thousand with twelve baskets left over, and the seven loaves that fed the four thousand and the plenty that remained. But I am not speaking to you about earthly food. No, I have come to warn you against feeding on the ideas and false teachings of those who market on religion.

In vain such people worship me, teaching as doctrines what are merely the inventions of men. Preoccupied with their own superstitions, they have forgotten the commandments of God.

V

Abba, Father, Lord God, humble knowing I am nothing without, thankful for each and every blessing, I still ask and pray for You to bless me and mine indeed, enlarging our territory. That Your hand would be with us to keep us from evil and from causing any pain. That we would each grow in Jesus, and in this season of Advent meditate on what You through Jesus in the Spirit us to us, and stop using the problem with religion as an excuse, a barrier that separates us from You. For there is You one God, and Jesus one Lord and Savior, and one Spirit in each of us; who works with our individual spiritual gifts according to Your will. So help me, help us, walk in the light according to the Words of Jesus. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Isaiah 25:6-10
Psalm 23:1-6

1  The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want;  2  he makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters;  3  he restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.  4  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.  5  Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies; thou anointest my head with oil, my cup overflows.  6  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
Matthew 15:29-37

29  And Jesus went on from there and passed along the Sea of Galilee. And he went up on the mountain, and sat down there.  30  And great crowds came to him, bringing with them the lame, the maimed, the blind, the dumb, and many others, and they put them at his feet, and he healed them,  31  so that the throng wondered, when they saw the dumb speaking, the maimed whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel.  32  Then Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I have compassion on the crowd, because they have been with me now three days, and have nothing to eat; and I am unwilling to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way."  33  And the disciples said to him, "Where are we to get bread enough in the desert to feed so great a crowd?"  34  And Jesus said to them, "How many loaves have you?" They said, "Seven, and a few small fish."  35  And commanding the crowd to sit down on the ground,  36  he took the seven loaves and the fish, and having given thanks he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.  37  And they all ate and were satisfied; and they took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces left over.

The New Doctrine

Whoever hears my words and acts upon them is wise, and builds on a foundation made of stone.

The rains descend, and the floods rise. Hurricane winds beat against the house, yet it stands strong: for it is built on solid rock.

But whoever hears my life-giving words and rejects them chooses to build on a foundation of sand. The rains descend, and the floods rise. Hurricane winds beat against the house, and the foundation crumbles. The house collapses, and great is its fall.

V

Abba, Father, Lord God, humbled by knowledge of myself and human condition, thankful for the seed in my heart that seeks knowledge of You, Your truths, Your ways, and Your secrets to the human condition and its role in developing and purifying the spirit which inhabits the body and lives by Your breath. Breathing in the Your Wisdom of the Cosmos and breathing out the consciousness on this human condition as one with a discerning heart walks under the sun deciding and discerning for themselves which path to walk to find their way home, home to You. I pray that the seed You planted in my heart will grow strong roots throughout my body during this season of joy for Jesus, and wiser in Your ways and truths constantly discerning that information and knowledge under the sun with the eyes, hears and heart of Jesus. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Isaiah 11:1-10

1  There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots.  2  And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.  3  And his delight shall be in the fear of the LORD. He shall not judge by what his eyes see, or decide by what his ears hear;  4  but with righteousness he shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall slay the wicked.  5  Righteousness shall be the girdle of his waist, and faithfulness the girdle of his loins.  6  The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid, and the calf and the lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them.  7  The cow and the bear shall feed; their young shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.  8  The sucking child shall play over the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder’s den.  9  They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.  10  In that day the root of Jesse shall stand as an ensign to the peoples; him shall the nations seek, and his dwellings shall be glorious.
Psalm 72:1-2, 7-8, 12-13, 17
Luke 10:21-24

21  In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, "I thank thee, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to babes; yea, Father, for such was thy gracious will.  22  All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."  23  Then turning to the disciples he said privately, "Blessed are the eyes which see what you see!  24  For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it."

According to your faith, so you will receive. Do not be afraid any longer, but believe. Everything is possible to the one who believes.

Faith that Moves Mountains

According to your faith, so you will receive.

Many will come in the last days, from every corner of the earth, and enter into the kingdom of heaven. But the self-righteous and pious, who thought they would be first, and yet lived their lives without faith, will not enter in.

If you believe all things to be possible and leave no room for doubt, what you ask or command will be done. This is why I tell you: whatever it is that you desire, when you pray, believe that you will receive it, and you will.

As you live your life invigorated by the breath of God, the conflicts of this earth will be overcome by heaven’s power: and whatever you allocate on earth will be that which is in accordance to heaven’s plan.

Do not be afraid any longer, but believe. Everything is possible to the one who believes.

V

Abba, Father, Lord God, humbled, troubled, yet thankful I come to You for peace; the peace that can be received and given to others in great need. For I know that You will provide and take care of me, and that it is only in the times and in the ways under the sun that I give up the peace I have with You for struggle and worry about things I cannot change. Help me walk in the peace of this moment so that I may pray for my brethren and companions’ sake and be able to truly say, "Peace be within you!" In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

V

Finally the Immaculate Virgin, preserved free from all stain of original sin, when the course of her earthly life was finished, was taken up body and soul into heavenly glory, and exalted by the Lord as Queen over all things, so that she might be the more fully conformed to her Son, the Lord of lords and conqueror of sin and death.

Isaiah 2:1-5

2  It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be raised above the hills; and all the nations shall flow to it,  3  and many peoples shall come, and say: "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths." For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.  4  He shall judge between the nations, and shall decide for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
Psalm 122:1-9

8  For my brethren and companions’ sake I will say, "Peace be within you!"
Matthew 8:5-11

5  As he entered Caper’na-um, a centurion came forward to him, beseeching him  6  and saying, "Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, in terrible distress."  7  And he said to him, "I will come and heal him."  8  But the centurion answered him, "Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; but only say the word, and my servant will be healed.  9  For I am a man under authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to one, `Go,’ and he goes, and to another, `Come,’ and he comes, and to my slave, `Do this,’ and he does it."  10  When Jesus heard him, he marveled, and said to those who followed him, "Truly, I say to you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.  11  I tell you, many will come from east and west and sit at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven,

Watch – Beware that no man deceive you; Do not let your heart be overwhelmed by the pursuit of earthly pleasure or the anxieties of life. Let not my returning find you unprepared; for like the springing of a trap will it suddenly come upon the earth.

The Words of Jesus of Nazareth

The Return

Watch therefore, for you know not the hour when your Lord will come.

Beware that no man deceive you; for in the end times, many will come using my name, saying, "I am Christ," and will deceive many. False prophets will arise; and they too will lead many into believing their lies.

Do not believe those who tell you: "I have found one like Christ." There will arise many deceitful imitators and false prophets exhibiting “signs” and “wonders,” so that even the elect will be deceived.

Some among you will say, "Behold, one like Christ is in the desert.” Do not hurry out looking for me. Or if they say, "Christ has come, and is in a secret location that I alone know of," do not believe it. For even as the lightning flashes across the sky, illuminating the heavens from the east to the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

Do not let your heart be overwhelmed by the pursuit of earthly pleasure or the anxieties of life. Let not my returning find you unprepared; for like the springing of a trap will it suddenly come upon the earth.

Be always watchful; for you do not know the day or the hour when the Son of Man will return. Live your life in a prepared manner, your lights burning brightly, like those servants who wait with expectancy for the sound of the Lord’s approaching.

It is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one of these words to fail.

V

Abba, Father, Lord God, humbled and thankful I meditate and keep watch knowing until I lay at the feet of my Lord Jesus I must keep up the fight within, empting and dying, praying to be filled with His living Words and to rise again likened to Him. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

V

He who does not meditate acts as one who never looks into the mirror and so does not bother to put himself in order, since he can be dirty without knowing it. The person who meditates and turns his thoughts to God who is the mirror of the soul, seeks to know his defects and tries to correct them, moderates himself in his impulses and puts his conscience in order.

Isaiah 63:16-17, 19

17  O LORD, why dost thou make us err from thy ways and harden our heart, so that we fear thee not? Return for the sake of thy servants, the tribes of thy heritage.  19  We have become like those over whom thou hast never ruled, like those who are not called by thy name.
Psalms 80:2-3, 15-16, 18-19
1 Corinthians 1:3-9
Mark 13:33-37

33  Take heed, watch; for you do not know when the time will come.  34  It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to be on the watch.  35  Watch therefore — for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrow, or in the morning —  36  lest he come suddenly and find you asleep.  37  And what I say to you I say to all: Watch."

The Call

Why do you call me good, unless you believe I am God? You know the commandments: do not commit adultery; Do not kill; Do not steal; Do not bear false witness; Honor your father and your mother. Doing this, you will have treasures in heaven. And yet, you fall short by honoring me with your words alone, and not using everything – your wealth, your possessions, and your life – to help those in need.

If you wish to follow me, you must first put aside your own desires and your self-centered ways. Sacrifice your pride and follow me. Those who desire eternal life must put aside their old way of life. All who do this for my sake will discover new life – both here on earth as well as in heaven.

V

Abba, Father, Lord God, humbled and thankful, I feel Your Words and know I cannot hide or escape from Your truths, I cannot reason or compromise they are as they are – living Words that convict and give life through the empting out of all things under the sun and dying to that which is not from above according to Your Words as spoken and taught be Jesus.  But the feeling can quickly be deadened by the busyness and ways under the sun, old ways are hard to die to and relationships tend to bring back that which was emptied. Only in and with Jesus can I endure and not give up. Help me Jesus! In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Sirach 44:1, 10-15

1  Let us now praise famous men, and our fathers in their generations.  10  But these were men of mercy, whose righteous deeds have not been forgotten;  11  their prosperity will remain with their descendants, and their inheritance to their children’s children.  12  Their descendants stand by the covenants; their children also, for their sake.  13  Their posterity will continue for ever, and their glory will not be blotted out.  14  Their bodies were buried in peace, and their name lives to all generations.  15  Peoples will declare their wisdom, and the congregation proclaims their praise.
Psalm 24:1-6

3  Who shall ascend the hill of the LORD? And who shall stand in his holy place?  4  He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false, and does not swear deceitfully.  5  He will receive blessing from the LORD, and vindication from the God of his salvation.  6  Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob. [Selah]
Mark 10:17-21

17  And as he was setting out on his journey, a man ran up and knelt before him, and asked him, "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"  18  And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone.  19  You know the commandments: `Do not kill, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.’"  20  And he said to him, "Teacher, all these I have observed from my youth."  21  And Jesus looking upon him loved him, and said to him, "You lack one thing; go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me."

Always

As my Father has sent me, so I send you.

Go therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Go into the world, and proclaim this good news to all people. Those that believe and are baptized will discover salvation; but those that believe not will be lost.

Attend the promise of the Father, which you have heard from me. John, called the Baptizer, cleansed his followers by immersing them in water, but you will be made new by the very breath of God.

You will receive new power when the breath of God has come among you; and you will be my witnesses, beginning here in Jerusalem , Judea, and Samaria , to the uttermost parts of the earth.

Breathe deep the breath of God. Teach, even as I have taught you. And remember that I am with you always, even to the end of the world.

Receive the Holy Spirit!

Abba, Father, Lord God, humbled, thankful, I seek will; I pray for Your will, the will. In the name of the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit. Amen.

15  and if any one’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
Psalm 84:3-6, 8

3  Even the sparrow finds a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, at thy altars, O LORD of hosts, my King and my God.  4  Blessed are those who dwell in thy house, ever singing thy praise! [Selah]  5  Blessed are the men whose strength is in thee, in whose heart are the highways to Zion.  6  As they go through the valley of Baca they make it a place of springs; the early rain also covers it with pools.

O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer; give ear, O God of Jacob! [Selah]
Luke 21:29-33

33  Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

The Pontiff in Winter: Triumph and Conflict in the Reign of John Paul II By John Cornwell Narrated by John Lee – Pope John Paul II is one of the most famous and influential political figures of the world. Now, best-selling author and journalist John Cornwell has written an accessible and provocative portrait of this highly charged figure, focusing primarily on the last five years and the major world events, and scandals within the Church that have impacted the papacy. The result is a thoughtful assessment of John Paul II’s legacy to the Church. In an age when many people see the Catholic Church as an institution in crisis, Cornwell raises the level of debate by posing difficult questions; chief among them is the effectiveness of a system that grants lifetime power to an individual vulnerable to the vicissitudes of aging and illness.
