Words written in red; Words of Jesus
Thus you witness against yourselves, that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets. Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers. You serpents, you brood of vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to hell? Therefore I send you prophets and wise men and scribes, some of whom you will kill and crucify, and some you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from town to town, that upon you may come all the righteous bloodshed on earth, from the blood of innocent Abel to the blood of Zechari’ah the son of Barachi’ah, whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar.
Matthew 23: 31 – 35

Son, nothing in this world now affords me delight. I do not know what there is now for me to do or why I am still here, all my hopes in this world being now fulfilled.
— St. Monica

Abba, Father, Lord God, thankful and always seeking to walk humbly and heed the words of St. Paul today and ‘to give others in my conduct an example to imitate‘, especially those closest to me as they know me best, and all I do is for them, always working, believing and praying that we all will use our time together under the sun to prepare for our time together with You, Jesus and the Holy Spirit in eternity by walking in faith, with hope, by love. So my motivation is that of the Psalmist ‘Blessed is everyone who fears the LORD, who walks in his ways! They shall eat the fruit of the labor of their hands; they shall be happy, and it shall be well with You. Thus shall the man be blessed who fears the LORD.‘ In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Words written in red; Words of Jesus
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you tithe mint and dill and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law, justice and mercy and faith; these you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel!  "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you cleanse the outside of the cup and of the plate, but inside they are full of extortion and rapacity. You blind Pharisee! first cleanse the inside of the cup and of the plate, that the outside also may be clean.
Matthew 23: 23 – 26

The soul of one who serves God always swims in joy, always keeps holiday, and is always in the mood for singing.
— St John of the Cross

Abba, Father, Lord God, thankful and humble I know that with Your help I can do nothing, without Jesus I am nothing. O that You would bless me and mine indeed, laying Your hand upon us to protect and keep us from evil and from causing pain. That You would continue the good work within me cleansing every part of me on the inside so that Your light will shine and my outside will be clean and those who see me, see Your hand. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

1  Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our assembling to meet him, we beg you, brethren,  2  not to be quickly shaken in mind or excited, either by spirit or by word, or by letter purporting to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come.  3  Let no one deceive you in any way; for that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of perdition,
14  To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.  15  So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter.  16  Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,  17  comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.
Psalm 96:10-13
Matthew 23:23-26

Words written in red; Words of Jesus
But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sad’ducees, they came together.  And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, to test him.  "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?"  And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.  This is the great and first commandment.  And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.  On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets."
Matthew 22: 34 – 40

Be kindhearted to the poor, the unfortunate and the afflicted. Give them as much help and consolation as you can. Thank God for all the benefits he has bestowed upon you, that you may be worthy to receive greater. Always side with the poor rather than with the rich, until you are certain of the truth.
— St. Louis IX

Abba, Father, Lord God, thankful, humble, knowing I am not yet what You want me to be all the time knowing my focus needs to be shifted outward towards serving You in serving others. For in Isaiah You remind and convict me with by asking ‘Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?‘ and showing me that ‘Then shall your light break forth like the dawn, and your healing shall spring up speedily; your righteousness shall go before you, the glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.‘ And the Psalmist proclaims ‘For the righteous will never be moved; he will be remembered for ever. He is not afraid of evil tidings; his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD.  His heart is steady, he will not be afraid, until he sees his desire on his adversaries.‘ O that You would bless me and mine indeed, calling us into service for You, enlarging our territory, laying Your hand upon us to protect and keep us from evil and from causing pain. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Words written in red; Words of Jesus
Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesare’a Philip’pi, he asked his disciples, "Who do men say that the Son of man is?"  And they said, "Some say John the Baptist, others say Eli’jah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets."  He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?"  Simon Peter replied, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."  And Jesus answered him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jona!  For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.  And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it.  I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."  Then he strictly charged the disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ.
Matthew 16: 13 – 20

Just as men’s fleeting joy for the world’s sake has an eventual sorrow that accompanies it, Godly tears are a seed of perpetual and unending joy.
— St. John Chrysostom

Abba, Father, Lord God, thankful and humble, resting in Your Words at the foot of the Cross in Your arms I write to You today. For You are my LORD God and I pray to You, that will fulfill Your purpose for me; through Thy steadfast love, O LORD, as Abba Father who endures forever in the hearts of all that seek truth in serving Jesus and must overcome themselves by dying to themselves; do not forsake the work Thy hands have begun and complete in me that work which will lead me to be what You intended before I became corrupted under the sun. For while the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of You Lord God are clearly beyond human if not my understanding, but not my belief. For who could know the mind of You Lord God, or who has been his counselor? Or who has given a gift to You that we could not repaid? But Jesus! For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be glory forever. And to run and race and finish serving Jesus is all one could and should seek; anything more is but a blessing, a gift from You in His name. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Words written in red; Words of Jesus
Then said Jesus to the crowds and to his disciples,  "The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat;  so practice and observe whatever they tell you, but not what they do; for they preach, but do not practice.  They bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with their finger. They do all their deeds to be seen by men; for they make their phylacteries broad and their fringes long,  and they love the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues,  and salutations in the market places, and being called rabbi by men.  But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all brethren.  And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven. Neither be called masters, for you have one master, the Christ.  He who is greatest among you shall be your servant;  whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
Matthew 23: 1 – 12

Whatever, wherever I am, I can never be thrown away. If I am in sickness, my sickness may serve Him; if I am in sorrow, my sorrow may serve Him. He does nothing in vain; He may prolong my life, He may shorten it; He knows what He is about. He may take away my friends, He may throw me among strangers, He may make me feel desolate, make my spirits sink, hide the future from me. Still, He knows what He is about!  He loves to see the trust makes us persist in knocking unceasingly.
— John Henry Cardinal Newman

Abba, Father, Lord God, thankful and seeking humility I come to You today singing the words of the Psalmist:
Surely his salvation is at hand for those who fear him, that glory may dwell in our land.
Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet; righteousness and peace will kiss each other.
Faithfulness will spring up from the ground, and righteousness will look down from the sky. Righteousness will go before him, and make his footsteps a way.
And praying the words Jesus taught me to pray;
‘Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, They kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread, and forgive us as we forgive others. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for Thy is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever,’
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Man works thinking only of today. You must see things with the eyes of eternity without that mad urge for material things. From this will come peace and calmness and you will give life and vigor to ever so many without losing your own vitality.

Abba, Father, Lord God, thankful, always seeking humility balanced at the foot of the Cross with the courage needed to walk by faith with Jesus as my Lord, Savior, Teacher and Example of how to walk under the sun. It does not get any easier to accept that I will always fall short, but landing at the feet of Jesus on the Cross, I know I can reach up and He will take my hand and lift me up, and in and through prayer and conscious connected thought with Him, He will carry me. For to me has been given the blessing to feel the power of Jesus, in Word, in Spirit, and though I stumble, and though I doubt, I come back to the foot of the Cross to climb up and above the deafening, blinding and fearfulness under the sun. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen,

Words written in red; Words of Jesus
And again Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying, "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a marriage feast for his son, and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage feast; but they would not come. Again he sent other servants, saying, `Tell those who are invited, Behold, I have made ready my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves are killed, and everything is ready; come to the marriage feast.’ But they made light of it and went off, one to his farm, another to his business, while the rest seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them. The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. Then he said to his servants, `The wedding is ready, but those invited were not worthy. Go therefore to the thoroughfares, and invite to the marriage feast as many as you find.’ And those servants went out into the streets and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good; so the wedding hall was filled with guests. "But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment; and he said to him, `Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. Then the king said to the attendants, `Bind him hand and foot, and cast him into the outer darkness; there men will weep and gnash their teeth.’ For many are called, but few are chosen."
Matthew 22: 1 – 14

Truly we are passing through disastrous times, when we may well make our own the lamentation of the Prophet: "There is no truth, and there is no mercy, and there is no knowledge of God in the land" (Hosea 4:1). Yet in the midst of this tide of evil, the Virgin Most Merciful rises before our eyes like a rainbow, as the arbiter of peace between God and man.
— St. Pius X

Abba, Father, Lord God, thankful, humble and wonderingly seeking with the innocence of my childhood, not the corrupted and burdened mind of my years I come and ask for Your grace, mercy and blessings. Blessings not as the world under the sun seeks but spiritual blessings which You know I know are far more valuable and like the seeds that fell on good ground and soil, sprung roots to withstand the ways, tribulations, disappointments and most of all produces fruit of the Spirit to help be, comfort and understand the needs of others. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

26 A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will take out of your flesh the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.  27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to observe my ordinances.
Psalm 51:12-15, 18-19
