My Daily Prayers and Readings for 10/08/2013

Despite their fear of the peoples around them, they built the altar on its foundation and sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the LORD, both the morning and evening sacrifices.

Lord God, turn my attention from what others think of me, and let me have eyes of faith only for what You think of my life and work. Replace fear of people with a reverent awe of You that drowns out all else. Keep me focused on what You’ve called me to do.1 With a pure heart, and a steadfast spirit. Free of judgement and full of forgiveness and love. Staying strong in You and Your almighty power. (r or l) For my one walk in and with You today, as an example of Your presence and a channel of Your peace and love in all situations with all people. Remembering that if I get nothing else done, let me spend it loving You and others first, as You love me. Asking that whenever I speak, words may be given to me, so that I will fearlessly make known the truth in the mystery of the gospel – one walk. Praying without ceasing for me and mine in fulfillment of Your will and for those You place in my path.In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 10/04/2013

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Lord Jesus, Your compassion and grace has transformed my life. Let me come alongside others at their point of need in the same way that You continually and compassionately meet me at my point of need. May others sense Your compassion and grace as I serve them in Your name.1 With a pure heart, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Free of judgement and full of forgiveness and love. Strong in You and Your almighty power. (r or l) Remembering that if I get nothing else done this day, I must spend it loving You and others first, as You love me. Praying without ceasing for me and mine in fulfillment of Your will and for those You place in my path. Asking that whenever I speak, words may be given to me, so that I will fearlessly make known the truth in the mystery of the gospel – one walk. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 10/01/2013

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Jesus, thank You for inviting me to bring my troubles to You. Thank You for entering into the ups and downs of this world. I give You all the things I’ve been trying to carry on my own: my sin, my stress, my worry. Thank You for taking them and giving me peace in exchange. Be the center of my life.1 Create a pure heart, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. For my one walk in and with You today, as a channel of Your peace and love in all situations with all people. Free of judgement and full of forgiveness and love. Strong in You and Your almighty power. (r or l) Putting my love for You and others first, as You love me. Praying without ceasing in the Spirit for me and mine to fulfill Your will, and for those You place in my path. Asking that whenever I speak, words may be given to me, so that I will fearlessly make known the truth in the mystery of the gospel – one walk. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.

Jesus, Living Word, thank You for opening my heart to hear and receive Your word of truth. Thank You for creating me anew to live and move in the realm of God’s spirit, and to be part of the new work You are doing in the world. May I serve Your purposes today. Create a pure heart, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Free of judgement and full of forgiveness and love. For my one walk in and with You today, as a channel of Your peace and love in all situations with all people. Staying strong in You and Your almighty power. (r or l) Remembering that if I get nothing else done this day, let me spend it loving You and others first, as You love me. Praying in the now of every moment through the Spirit for me and mine in fulfillment of Your will and for those You place in my path. Desire without knowledge is not good— how much more will hasty feet miss the way!

Lord God, my passion for You can ebb and flow like the tide, deleted by the demands of life and servanthood, or fanned by success. Don’t let me put my trust in passion, but in You. Fan my passion and strengthen me to walk in Your way through Your Word, Your Spirit, and prayer 1; for me and mine in fulfillment of Your will, and for those Your place in my path. Create in me a pure heart, and renew a steadfast spirit. Free of judgement and full of forgiveness and love. Strong in You and Your almighty power, covered in Your armor. (r or l) Remembering that if I get nothing else done this day, let me spend it loving You and others first, as You love me. Asking that whenever I speak, words may be given to me, so that I will fearlessly make known the truth in the mystery of the gospel – one walk. Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”

Jesus, this in the crux of the matter. Am I clinging to my role as leader or am I choosing to follow You as the leader of my life? I renounce my pride, and humbly place myself under Your leadership. In Your name, I ask that others see only You through my life. 1 Liken my heart to Yours, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Keep me free of judgement and full of forgiveness and love. Strong in You and Your almighty power. (r or l) Remembering that if I get nothing else done this day, let me spend it loving You and others first, as You love me. Praying for me and mine in fulfillment of Your will. Staying alert to always praying for those You place in my path. Asking that whenever I speak, words may be given to me, so that I will fearlessly make known the truth in the mystery of the gospel – one walk. You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.

Jesus, I come to Your cross each morning, and lay my life down. I look up, and realize that from Your love flows forgiveness, life, renewed hope, and energy. Humbled by God’s mercy and grace, I rise to serve in Your name. 1 Seeking a pure heart, and to renew a steadfast spirit within me for my one walk in and with You. As a channel of Your peace and love in all situations with all people. Free of judgement and full of forgiveness and love. Staying strong in You and Your almighty power. (r or l) Remembering that if I get nothing else done this day, let me spend it loving You and others first, as You love me. Praying on all occasions for me and mine in fulfillment of Your will. Alert to always pray for those You place in my path. Asking that whenever I speak, words may be given to me, so that I will fearlessly make known the truth in the mystery of the gospel – one walk.
