For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

December 27, 2012

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 12/27/2012

Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

< >< My Prayer >< >

Abba Father the gate is narrow and path is steep with little rest. For the evil one never rests and is always lurking to use whoever and whatever he can to separate us from You. We must stay alert, and ready to fight him whenever he attacks. Putting on Your full armor and standing firm with the belt of Your truth buckled around our waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with our feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, taking up the shield of faith. Taking the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is Your word. And praying in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit

December 9, 2012

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 12/09/2012

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

< >< My Prayer >< >

Abba Father You are the vine and I am a branch, fully knowing that if I keep You in me and if I stay in You, You will use me to produce fruit, because without You I can do nothing. The first step in staying in You and bringing You into me, is this time each day when I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ who lives within me through the Holy Spirit so that You can create in me a pure heart, and renew a steadfast spirit within me, for my one walk in and with You. Then I focus on letting You and Your word grow in me, showing and teaching me how to be a channel of Your peace and love in all situations with all people. I become less of me and more of You so that You will help me be strong in You and Your almighty power, putting on Your full armor by standing firm with the belt of Your truth buckled around my waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with my feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, taking up the shield of faith, with which I can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one who lurks in each moment waiting to separate me from You. I take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is Your word, and praying in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests for all of Your people. With this mindset, I set out to stay alert and pray without ceasing for me and mine in fulfillment of Your will. Asking that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel. (r or l) Remembering that if I get nothing else done this day, let me spend it loving You and others first, as You love me. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen. .

A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord,

December 8, 2012

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 12/08/2012

“A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him. Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth. And all people will see God’s salvation.’”

< >< My Prayer >< >

Abba Father I’ve heard Your call and I know I will never be the same for I am different as a result. This is why I come to You each day in the name of Jesus Christ who lives within me through the Holy Spirit so that You can create in me a pure heart. For I know I always believed, but it took hearing the call to wake me up and start following. Two simple words that Jesus used often “follow me”. But Jesus warned it will not be easy. So also come asking You to renew a steadfast spirit within me, for my one walk in and with You. Keep my eyes of faith focus on Your will, not mine. Keep me in the now of the moment.  Alert and always praying for those You put in my path, as well as for me and mine in fulfillment of Your will. Asking that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the power and mystery of the gospel (r or l) through my example. Always aware that if I get nothing else done this day, let me spend it loving You and others first, as You love me. Standing firm with the belt of Your truth buckled around my waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with my feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, taking up the shield of faith, with which I can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing,

December 6, 2012

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 12/06/2012

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

< >< My Prayer >< >

Abba Father ‘throughout history we have seen worldly powers come and go, but Your power remains. Your power made live in a kind word, an act of love or sacrifice and their consequences last forever. Not so with the power of the world.’ 1 To feel Your power we must be willing to believe, to be able to call upon Your power we must follow. We must start from a pure heart, so I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ who lives within me through the Holy Spirit so that You can create a pure heart in me. We must remain steadfast in what we believe, so I ask that You will renew a steadfast spirit within me. I pray that You will show and teach me how to be a channel of Your peace and love in all situations with all people. That You will help me be strong in You and Your almighty power, putting on Your full armor by standing firm with the belt of Your truth buckled around my waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with my feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, taking up the shield of faith, with which I can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one who lurks in each moment waiting to separate me from You. Taking the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is Your word. And praying in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, being alert and always praying for all of Your people, including me and mine in fulfillment of Your will. Asking that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel. (r or l) Reminding us that if we get nothing else done this day, let us spend it loving You and others first, as You love us. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen. .

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear;

December 3, 2012

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 12/03/2012

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

< >< My Prayer >< >

Abba Father how easily we give in to fear and doubt; so often without even a struggle or second thought. We allow our weaknesses to consume us; and the evil one to devour us within our own self pity and emotions – all rooted in fear and fed in doubt. Like the darkness, fear and doubt left unchecked becomes where we run too to hide. What irony  afraid of the dark we run into the dark. Unfortunately we lose sight of Your will and purpose for us; which is exactly what the evil one wants. We end up hurting and abusing the ones that You have put with us to help us most. I know of only one way out of the darkness and that is in the Holy Spirit through Christ Jesus with You. We must fight off of pity, doubt and fear, run into the light and scream out – help me Jesus. In His name, the name of Jesus Christ who lives within us through the Holy Spirit we must allow You to create a pure heart within us, and renew our steadfast spirit, for one walk in and with You. We must think of others and their needs over ours, so You can show and teach us how to be a channel of Your peace and love in all situations with all people. We must call on You to awaken the spirit of power to overcome, unconditional love and exercise sound mind by putting on Your full armor and standing firm with the belt of Your truth buckled around our waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with our feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, taking up the shield of faith, with which we can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one who is calling us into the darkness to separate us from You. We must take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is Your word. And pray without ceasing in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, stay alert and always praying for those in need. Asking that whenever we speak, words may be given to us so that we will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel (r or l) is a live within us. Reminding us that if we get nothing else done this day, let us spend it loving You and others first, as You love us. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen. .

But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate,

November 29, 2012

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 11/29/2012

But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.

< >< My Prayer >< >

Abba Father ‘far too often I overestimate my strenght, and underestimate Yours; failing to realize that without You I cannot overcome myself and the evil one who is always lurking to trip me up and separate me from You, if only for the moment.’ (r or l) So I start each day by coming to You in the name of Jesus Christ who lives within me through the Holy Spirit so that You can create in me a pure heart, and renew a steadfast spirit within me, for my one walk in and with You. For You to show and teach me how to be a channel of Your peace and love in all situations with all people. For You to help me stand having girded my waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod my feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which I will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one (r or l) who lurks in the darkness of the moment. Always praying that You continue to bless me and mine in fulfillment of Your will, and keep us from evil and pain; while reminding us that if we get nothing else done this day, let us spend it loving You and others first, as You love us. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.

November 26, 2012

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 11/26/2012

You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.

< >< My Prayer >< >

Abba Father ‘one cannot walk in the darkness and be in the light; one must be in the light to walk in the light.1 Being in the light takes commitment and practice with a strong dose of perseverance. For I have come to believe that our fallen human nature desires the call of the darkness, but is only full and complete in the light. For me Jesus is the like, and in and with Him there can be no darkness, for He overcame darkness. So I seek His likeness by coming to You in His name, the name of Jesus Christ who lives within me through the Holy Spirit so that You can create in me a pure heart, and renew a steadfast spirit within me, for my one walk in and with You today. So that You will show and teach me how to be a channel of Your peace and love in all situations with all people. So that You will help me stand having girded my waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod my feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which I will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one who calls out from the darkness. Always praying that You continue to bless me and mine in fulfillment of Your will, and keep us from evil and pain; while reminding us that if we get nothing else done this day, let us spend it loving You and others first, as You love us. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
