One Walk

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 11/11/2012

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.

Abba Father to walk as one with You is for me the key to being in the world but not of the world; it is with You through Jesus’ that I find the strength to die to things of the world under the sun that manifest themselves within me – anger, greed, laziness, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony. So I start each day by coming to You in the name of Jesus Christ who lives within me through the Holy Spirit so that You can create in me a pure heart, and renew a steadfast spirit within me, for my one walk in and with You. I ask that You will show and teach me how to be a channel of Your peace and love in all situations with all people that will cross my path this day. I get ready to stand having girded my waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod my feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which I will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one who I know will use whatever he can to disconnect me from You. I pray without ceasing throughout the day that You continue to bless me and mine in fulfillment of Your will, as well as those You place in my path today; and that You will keep us from evil and pain, reminding us that if we get nothing else done this day, let us spend it loving You and others first, as You love us. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 11/10/2012

“I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

Abba Father through Jesus You teach us so much; to love and forgive1 others unconditionally, as You love and forgive us, and we want to be love and forgiven.  We can only do this with a pure heart and steadfast spirit. This is why I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ who lives within me through the Holy Spirit so that You can create in me a pure heart, and renew a steadfast spirit within me, for my one walk in and with You, full of love and forgiveness. As a channel of Your peace and love in all situations with all people. Standing having girded my waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod my feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which I will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one who tries to harden my heart using my fallen nature. So I pray without ceasing that You continue to bless me and mine in fulfillment of Your will, keep us from evil and pain; and remind us that if we get nothing else done this day, let us spend it loving You and others first, as You love us. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 11/09/2012

We were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or freed.

Abba Father in today’s verse reading1 ‘Paul urges his readers to remember where they came from in our passage. But in this case he is not pointing to the valuable lessons they learned from their family background; rather, he is reminding them of their prospects prior to experiencing the grace of Christ.’2 I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ who lives within me through the Holy Spirit so that You can create in me a pure heart, and renew a steadfast spirit within me, reminding me of where I am vs. where I was but for Your grace and mercy and to prepare me for my one walk in and with You. Just like the example in today’s ‘In The Word Devotion’2 we all need to be reminded each day as we step out and start the day that we are more than what we have become under the sun, based family background, experiences, profession and political affiliation. We are believers in Jesus Christ and the only decision we have before us is will we be followers.   For to be follower we must open ourselves up to be shown and taught how to be channels of Your peace and love in all situations with all people. We must stand having girded our waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod our feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which we will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one who only seeks to separate us, first from You, then each other. So I pray today for oneness, oneness with You, oneness through Jesus Christ and as a nation under You. I pray that You continue to bless me and mine in fulfillment of Your will, and keep us from evil and pain; reminding us that if we get nothing else done this day, let us spend it loving You and others first, as You love us. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 11/07/2012

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

Abba Father I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ who lives within me through the Holy Spirit so that You can create in me a pure heart, and renew a steadfast spirit within me, for my one walk in and with Jesus. So that You will show and teach me how to be a channel of Your peace and love in all situations with all people. So that You will help me stand having girded my waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod my feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which I will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one who roams looking to devour me in my doubts and fears. For I know as one with You I walk with eyes of faith and there is more of You to direct and guide me and less of me to get in the way. So I pray without ceasing that You continue to bless me and mine in fulfillment of Your will, and that You keep us from evil and pain; reminding us that if we get nothing else done this day, let us spend it loving You and others first, as You love us. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 11/06/2012

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.

Abba Father it is by Your grace and grace alone that I have been saved.1 I walked under the sun thinking I could put You off; that if I could accomplish what I thought I needed to do under the sun first, all would be alright and I could then get right with You.2 But just as Solomon tells us in Ecclesiastes ‘all is meaningless3’ and ‘one sinner destroys much good’4. So now awakened I now come to You each morning in the name of Jesus Christ who lives within me through the Holy Spirit so that You can create in me a pure heart, and renew a steadfast spirit within me, putting You first, and keeping You first, for my one walk in and with You throughout each day and in each moment. So that You will show and teach me how to be a channel of Your peace and love in all situations with all people, an example of Your work. So that You will help me stand having girded my waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod my feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which I will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one who roams seeking to take me backwards. Praying without ceasing that You bless me and mine in fulfillment of Your will, reminding us that if we get nothing else done this day, let us spend it loving You and others first, as You love us. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
