Gospel Matthew 10:1-7

Jesus summoned his Twelve disciples
and gave them authority over unclean spirits to drive them out
and to cure every disease and every illness.
The names of the Twelve Apostles are these:
first, Simon called Peter, and his brother Andrew;
James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John;
Philip and Bartholomew,
Thomas and Matthew the tax collector;
James, the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddeus;
Simon the Cananean, and Judas Iscariot
who betrayed Jesus.
Jesus sent out these Twelve after instructing them thus,
“Do not go into pagan territory or enter a Samaritan town.
Go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
As you go, make this proclamation: ‘The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.’”

Formed: Ordinary Men, Extraordinary Graces

In today’s Gospel, Jesus grants the Twelve the ability to perform mighty deeds in his name. This authority continues to be passed down to bishops and priests today. They have been given the power to bring Christ to us, especially through the sacraments.

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
Lord You know my thoughts, You see my lack of action. Am I be misled by those that reveal the abuses of the Priests, Bishops and Pope. Or just lazy and content in my own space with You.
Oh how I pray for understanding and wisdom for I do not understand how sinful corrupt priests can have authority, if they do not speak or act in Your name, and according to Your Word.
Help me understand. Guide me.
I know You walk with me and mine. We are all separated from the Catholic Church for reasons of our own, but do believe and seek You in our own ways.

Help us, guide us.
Not our will, but Yours Lord God.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls.
In Jesus name I pray.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

How long will they be unable to attain

A demoniac who could not speak was brought to Jesus,

“He drives out demons by the prince of demons.”
Jesus went around to all the towns and villages,
teaching in their synagogues,
proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom,

“My daughter has just died.

A woman suffering hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him
and touched the tassel on his cloak.
She said to herself, “If only I can touch his cloak, I shall be cured.”
Jesus turned around and saw her, and said,
“Courage, daughter! Your faith has saved you.”
And from that hour the woman was cured.
When Jesus arrived at the official’s house
and saw the flute players and the crowd who were making a commotion,
he said, “Go away! The girl is not dead but sleeping.”
And they ridiculed him.
When the crowd was put out, he came and took her by the hand,
and the little girl arose.
And news of this spread throughout all that land.

Formed: Wonder Again

In the midst of our busy lives, it’s important to pause every so often and think about who God is. We must remind ourselves of God’s unfailing love, the gifts he has given us, his gentle mercy, and his sovereign power. In doing so, we’re drawn into wonder and worship, and we find courage and peace.

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
Thank You Lord for this 4th of July… Independence Day. For placing me and mine in this wonderful country. This day we should count our blessings and freedoms, giving thanks to You, our Lord God. Realizing how we have neglected You, and our country. A country built on trust in You. Faith, hope and love. Faith to make the sacrifices required to protect what we have, hope in a better tomorrow, and love for You, each other and this country.
We have been blind and ignorant as to how easily we can lose it all in one generation. Have we lost it, because of our disobedience and selfishness. Pray not.
I pray for a revival. Pray that it is not to late for us, and our country, knowing it is never to late for You. So I pray without ceasing.

Thank You for walking with me and mine. For continuing to bless and protect us. Guide us and teach us. Give us the strength and courage to stand up against those that seek to separate us from You.

Chaos ensued in Israel when the nation fell out of communion with God. The same is true in our lives. When we fail to abide in Christ, we become anxious about the future and confused about our lives. By remaining faithful, however, we can remain at peace even in the midst of chaos and hardship.

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
How have I come to realize only You can satisfy? Through obedience and prayer rooted in Your Word, nurtured by daily time with You, opening my mind and heart to You. Balance with staying in the moment and practicing Your presence. By strengthening my body. By counting each and every blessing. By seeing all the little miracles through all the chaos and troubles. By bringing my doubts, worries and anxiety to You. And patiently listening and waiting. By loving as You love, and forgiving as You forgive. By trusting in You completely. This is how I start.
Then I pursue my one walk with Jesus above all. Thank You that He walks with me and mine. Guiding and protecting us, as He teaches us, and brings us together in His name.
Not my will, but Yours Lord God.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls.
In Jesus name I pray.

In times of tribulation, God brings about renewal. We see his works of renewal in Sacred Scripture, in the history of the Church, and even in the world today. Apostolates continue to emerge, bringing light and order into a confused time. They are new wine in fresh wineskins, so to speak.

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
Amen, amen and once again thank you Lord for speaking to me through Your Words. Today’s reading and reflections produces provides the nutrients that I need. For I believe Church needs a new skin to revive itself. We are each part of that wine skin, and I must find my way to do my part. And just as You did with the Israelites, You will do with Christians by bringing us all together in one Church, one faith, one walk with Jesus. Help me stay focused on this goal with love and confidence in what I know are Your truths.

Thank You for walking with me and mine. Renewing us together in You, mind body and soul. Guiding us to Your truths. Directing our steps. Lighting our path.

Formed: Sinners to Saints

When Israel failed to listen to the commandments, they felt the disastrous effects of sin. Indeed, they suffered a famine for hearing the word of the Lord. In the midst of this disaster and those similar, God raised up sinners to reconvert his people. He continues to do the same in today’s world, too.

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
In my rear view mirror I still see the darkness that surrounded my selfish and sinful ways. Oh if I had listened then. My regrets would be fewer and the pain I caused much less. Forgive again Lord, separate me from anything the distracts me from following You.
All I have and hold close is surrounded by You now. Help me to let Your presence be seen. For only You can hold it together.
Thank You for walking with me and mine. Help us today to stay in Your presence. Hear my prayers. Continue to bless and protect us.

Reading I Amos 7:10-17

Amaziah, the priest of Bethel, sent word to Jeroboam,
king of Israel:
“Amos has conspired against you here within Israel;
the country cannot endure all his words.
For this is what Amos says:
Jeroboam shall die by the sword,
and Israel shall surely be exiled from its land.”

To Amos, Amaziah said:
“Off with you, visionary, flee to the land of Judah!
There earn your bread by prophesying,
but never again prophesy in Bethel;
for it is the king’s sanctuary and a royal temple.”
Amos answered Amaziah, “I was no prophet,
nor have I belonged to a company of prophets;
I was a shepherd and a dresser of sycamores.
The LORD took me from following the flock, and said to me,
‘Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’
Now hear the word of the LORD!”

You say: prophesy not against Israel,

Gospel Matthew 9:1-8

After entering a boat, Jesus made the crossing, and came into his own town.
And there people brought to him a paralytic lying on a stretcher.
When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic,
“Courage, child, your sins are forgiven.”
At that, some of the scribes said to themselves,
“This man is blaspheming.”
Jesus knew what they were thinking, and said,
“Why do you harbor evil thoughts?
Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’
or to say, ‘Rise and walk’?
But that you may know that the Son of Man
has authority on earth to forgive sins”–
he then said to the paralytic,
“Rise, pick up your stretcher, and go home.”
He rose and went home.
When the crowds saw this they were struck with awe
and glorified God who had given such authority to men.

Over the past few days, we’ve become familiar with Amos, a heroic prophet who urged Israel to repent. As we read about his efforts, we can forget that Amos was not a scholar or an elite. He was simply an ordinary man who was open to God. Today, in a world that needs prophets, let’s be like Amos.
