Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

December 28, 2012

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 12/28/2012

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

< >< My Prayer >< >

Abba Father I come to You weary and burdened and through prayer in the name of Jesus Christ who lives within me through the Holy Spirit so that You create in me a pure heart, and You renew a steadfast spirit, for my one walk in and with You this day. You help me be strong in You and Your almighty power, You help me put on Your full armor by standing firm with the belt of Your truth buckled around my waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with my feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, taking up the shield of faith, with which I can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one who lurks in each moment waiting to separate me from You. Taking the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is Your word. And praying in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests for me and mine in fulfillment of Your will. Asking that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel. (r or l) And regardless if I get nothing else done this day, let me spend it loving You and others first, as You love me. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen. .

For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

December 27, 2012

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 12/27/2012

Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

< >< My Prayer >< >

Abba Father the gate is narrow and path is steep with little rest. For the evil one never rests and is always lurking to use whoever and whatever he can to separate us from You. We must stay alert, and ready to fight him whenever he attacks. Putting on Your full armor and standing firm with the belt of Your truth buckled around our waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with our feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, taking up the shield of faith. Taking the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is Your word. And praying in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

For my eyes have seen your salvation,

December 26, 2012

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 12/26/2012

Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying: “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.”

< >< My Prayer >< >

Abba Father why is it not enough – to know through belief. Why do so many seek more. Is it weakness or selfishness. I love the stories of the Bible that confirm faith through the lives of those like Simeon. I find encouragement and strength to overcome the weakness and fear that try to overtake me. I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ who lives within me through the Holy Spirit so that You will create in me a pure heart, and renew a steadfast spirit within me, for my one walk in and with You. So that You will show and teach me how to be a channel of Your peace and love in all situations with all people. Asking that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel. (r or l) So that You will help me be strong in You and Your almighty power, putting on Your full armor by standing firm with the belt of Your truth buckled around my waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with my feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, taking up the shield of faith, with which I can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one who lurks in each moment waiting to separate me from You with whoever and whatever he can. Taking the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is Your word. And praying in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, being alert and always praying for me and mine in fulfillment of Your will. Asking that You remind us of our responsibility to be strong to build up and not tear down; so that if we get nothing else done this day, let us spend it loving You and others first, as You love us. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen. .

And Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary,

December 11, 2012

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 12/11/2012

And Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, and Mary was the mother of Jesus who is called the Messiah.

< >< My Prayer >< >

Abba Father I love to read and hear about Joseph r or l, and often wonder how much more there would be to learn about and from him if we knew more about Jesus between the ages of 12 and 30. Having to piece together the image of what I father should be, I often think and rely on Joseph as an example to follow. When I come to You each morning so that You can create in me a pure heart, and renew a steadfast spirit within me, I often think and meditate on how important being a good father is to me. While I made many mistakes, the fact is, I will be a father as long as I am alive, and it is in my one walk in and with You that I know I can be my best. So I ask that You continue to show and teach me how to be just that, a father like Joseph, in all situations at all times. Help me to be strong in You and Your almighty power, putting on Your full armor by standing firm with the belt of Your truth buckled around my waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with my feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, taking up the shield of faith, with which I can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Taking the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is Your word, and praying in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests for me and mine in fulfillment of Your will. Asking that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel (r or l) and Your presence and work in me. Remembering that if I get nothing else done this day, let me spend it loving You and others first, as You love me, and Joseph loved Jesus. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen. .

“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.”

December 10, 2012

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 12/10/2012

“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. For no word from God will ever fail.” “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

< >< My Prayer >< >

Abba Father, Your ‘ways supersede man’s best and worst intentions.’ r or l Your ways are not our ways and it takes constant awareness, openness and practice to deal and accept this fact. I start by coming to You in the name of Jesus Christ who lives within me through the Holy Spirit so that You can create in me a pure heart, and renew a steadfast spirit within me, for my one walk in and with You. I think about what You have shown me and are trying to teach me so I can be a channel of Your peace and love in all situations with all people. I know I need to be strong in You and Your almighty power, to overcome myself, by putting on Your full armor, by standing firm with the belt of Your truth buckled around my waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with my feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, taking up the shield of faith, with which I can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one who lurks in each moment waiting to create doubt to separate me from You. I must practice praying in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. Asking that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel. (r or l) Remembering to stay alert and to pray without ceasing for me and mine in fulfillment of Your will, so that even if we get nothing else done this day, let us spend it loving You and others first, as You love us. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen. .

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit

December 9, 2012

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 12/09/2012

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

< >< My Prayer >< >

Abba Father You are the vine and I am a branch, fully knowing that if I keep You in me and if I stay in You, You will use me to produce fruit, because without You I can do nothing. The first step in staying in You and bringing You into me, is this time each day when I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ who lives within me through the Holy Spirit so that You can create in me a pure heart, and renew a steadfast spirit within me, for my one walk in and with You. Then I focus on letting You and Your word grow in me, showing and teaching me how to be a channel of Your peace and love in all situations with all people. I become less of me and more of You so that You will help me be strong in You and Your almighty power, putting on Your full armor by standing firm with the belt of Your truth buckled around my waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with my feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, taking up the shield of faith, with which I can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one who lurks in each moment waiting to separate me from You. I take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is Your word, and praying in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests for all of Your people. With this mindset, I set out to stay alert and pray without ceasing for me and mine in fulfillment of Your will. Asking that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel. (r or l) Remembering that if I get nothing else done this day, let me spend it loving You and others first, as You love me. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen. .

A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord,

December 8, 2012

My Daily Prayers and Readings for 12/08/2012

“A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him. Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth. And all people will see God’s salvation.’”

< >< My Prayer >< >

Abba Father I’ve heard Your call and I know I will never be the same for I am different as a result. This is why I come to You each day in the name of Jesus Christ who lives within me through the Holy Spirit so that You can create in me a pure heart. For I know I always believed, but it took hearing the call to wake me up and start following. Two simple words that Jesus used often “follow me”. But Jesus warned it will not be easy. So also come asking You to renew a steadfast spirit within me, for my one walk in and with You. Keep my eyes of faith focus on Your will, not mine. Keep me in the now of the moment.  Alert and always praying for those You put in my path, as well as for me and mine in fulfillment of Your will. Asking that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the power and mystery of the gospel (r or l) through my example. Always aware that if I get nothing else done this day, let me spend it loving You and others first, as You love me. Standing firm with the belt of Your truth buckled around my waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with my feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, taking up the shield of faith, with which I can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
