Reading I Acts 8:1b-8

There broke out a severe persecution of the Church in Jerusalem,
and all were scattered
throughout the countryside of Judea and Samaria,
except the Apostles.
Devout men buried Stephen and made a loud lament over him.
Saul, meanwhile, was trying to destroy the Church;
entering house after house and dragging out men and women,
he handed them over for imprisonment.

Now those who had been scattered went about preaching the word.
Thus Philip went down to the city of Samaria
and proclaimed the Christ to them.
With one accord, the crowds paid attention to what was said by Philip
when they heard it and saw the signs he was doing.
For unclean spirits, crying out in a loud voice,
came out of many possessed people,
and many paralyzed and crippled people were cured.
There was great joy in that city.

Gospel John 6:35-40

Jesus said to the crowds,
“I am the bread of life;
whoever comes to me will never hunger,
and whoever believes in me will never thirst.
But I told you that although you have seen me,

Formed: The Pilgrim’s Food

In the First Reading, we hear about the persecution of the early Church. Christianity was spreading so fast among both Jews and Gentiles that opponents had to resort to violence. Then, in the Gospel, Christ reveals that he is the Bread of Life. Indeed, Jesus brings us into his eternal life every time we receive the Eucharist.

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
Lord I believe everything You say, help my unbelief! The battle between good and evil rages on. The days of persecution of Christians is nearing. Recent events over the killing of the unborn is intensifying. So called believers, the Church and it’s Pastors must decide now. True believers and the Good Shepherds must unite and put doctrine and dogmatic issues aside. It’s all about Jesus. Help us see this. Everything we have and will ever have is because of Jesus. We must decide and choose Jesus.
As for me and my family… we choose Jesus. We choose to follow and obey, and praise and worship His name in our thoughts, words and actions. Help us, guide us. Bless and protect us. Let us feel Your presence.
Not our will, but Yours Lord God.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls.
In Jesus name I pray.

We are indebted to St. Philip for asking to see the Father. In response to that question, Jesus revealed that he is the revelation of the Father. Indeed, through Christ, God shows us that he is a tripersonal relationship of Love. Today, let’s ponder this inexhaustible mystery!

To often to stuck in our own thoughts and ways, rather than surrendering to Yours. Help see through Jesus Christ Your real image and gain understanding to do what we must… due to ourselves and follow You.

Reading I Acts 6:8-15

Stephen, filled with grace and power,
was working great wonders and signs among the people.
Certain members of the so-called Synagogue of Freedmen,
Cyreneans, and Alexandrians,
and people from Cilicia and Asia,
came forward and debated with Stephen,
but they could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit with which he spoke.
Then they instigated some men to say,
“We have heard him speaking blasphemous words
against Moses and God.”
They stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes,
accosted him, seized him,
and brought him before the Sanhedrin.
They presented false witnesses who testified,
“This man never stops saying things against this holy place and the law.
For we have heard him claim
that this Jesus the Nazorean will destroy this place
and change the customs that Moses handed down to us.”
All those who sat in the Sanhedrin looked intently at him
and saw that his face was like the face of an angel.

[After Jesus had fed the five thousand men, his disciples saw him walking on the sea.]
The next day, the crowd that remained across the sea
saw that there had been only one boat there,
and that Jesus had not gone along with his disciples in the boat,
but only his disciples had left.
Other boats came from Tiberias
near the place where they had eaten the bread
when the Lord gave thanks.
When the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there,
they themselves got into boats
and came to Capernaum looking for Jesus.
And when they found him across the sea they said to him,
“Rabbi, when did you get here?”
Jesus answered them and said,
“Amen, amen, I say to you, you are looking for me
not because you saw signs
but because you ate the loaves and were filled.
Do not work for food that perishes
but for the food that endures for eternal life,
which the Son of Man will give you.
For on him the Father, God, has set his seal.”

“What can we do to accomplish the works of God?”

“This is the work of God, that you believe in the one he sent.”

He revealed himself in this way.
Together were Simon Peter, Thomas called Didymus,
Nathanael from Cana in Galilee,
Zebedee’s sons, and two others of his disciples.
Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.”
They said to him, “We also will come with you.”
So they went out and got into the boat,
but that night they caught nothing.
When it was already dawn, Jesus was standing on the shore;
but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.
Jesus said to them, “Children, have you caught anything to eat?”
They answered him, “No.”
So he said to them, “Cast the net over the right side of the boat
and you will find something.”
So they cast it, and were not able to pull it in
because of the number of fish.
So the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord.”
When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord,
he tucked in his garment, for he was lightly clad,
and jumped into the sea.
The other disciples came in the boat,
for they were not far from shore, only about a hundred yards,
dragging the net with the fish.
When they climbed out on shore,
they saw a charcoal fire with fish on it and bread.
Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you just caught.”
So Simon Peter went over and dragged the net ashore
full of one hundred fifty-three large fish.
Even though there were so many, the net was not torn.
Jesus said to them, “Come, have breakfast.”
And none of the disciples dared to ask him, “Who are you?”
because they realized it was the Lord.
Jesus came over and took the bread and gave it to them,
and in like manner the fish.
This was now the third time Jesus was revealed to his disciples
after being raised from the dead.

When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter,
“Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?”
Simon Peter answered him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”
Jesus said to him, “Feed my lambs.”
He then said to Simon Peter a second time,

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
So many times like Peter I have denied You through my sinful ways. But every time You have called me back to You with open arms, full of love and forgiveness.
As I meditate on today’s readings and Gospel with the help of the reflections. I see how You use these reflections to show and teach me how Jesus’s story is told and comes together within each of todays readings, and throughout the Bible. Such a blessing. So inspirational. Imitating Peter I cry out ‘Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.’

Thank You for loving me enough. For each of mine, and for blessing and protecting them.
Not my will, but Yours Lord God.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls.
In Jesus name I pray.

Reading I Acts 6:1-7

As the number of disciples continued to grow,
the Hellenists complained against the Hebrews
because their widows
were being neglected in the daily distribution.
So the Twelve called together the community of the disciples and said,
“It is not right for us to neglect the word of God to serve at table.
Brothers, select from among you seven reputable men,
filled with the Spirit and wisdom,
whom we shall appoint to this task,
whereas we shall devote ourselves to prayer
and to the ministry of the word.”
The proposal was acceptable to the whole community,
so they chose Stephen, a man filled with faith and the Holy Spirit,
also Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas,
and Nicholas of Antioch, a convert to Judaism.
They presented these men to the Apostles
who prayed and laid hands on them.
The word of God continued to spread,
and the number of the disciples in Jerusalem increased greatly;
even a large group of priests were becoming obedient to the faith.

Lord every morning when I open my eyes I think of You first, and pray the Lord’s Prayer and Hail Mary, I give thanks for all of Your blessings and ask that He continue to walk with me and mine, bless and protect us. Then as I get up and begin my morning I start to think what will Your Word reveal to me today. What will I learn or gain more knowledge of. How will my You help calm me and help me get control over my concerns and fears. What will You reveal to me through the readings and reflections to reinforce and clarify my understanding. This is when I feel Your presence most. Seeing Jesus’s divinity, and saying like Thomas… my Lord and my God. Thank You, I love You, forgive me, I’m sorry.

Formed: The Life of the Church

As the Sanhedrin schemed against the Christians, Gamaliel spoke up. He reminded them that human institutions crumble on their own. If God established Christianity, however, it will not fall, regardless of what it faces. This lesson is especially important today. Let’s have certainty that God preserves his Church even in the midst of scandal.

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
Lord You know I long to have a home Church. A Church I can go to for Communion and to praise and worship You. You know my thoughts and confusion about the Catholic Church , the Protestant Church and the Non-Denominational Churches. About the Doctrine and Dogma’s. The corruption and abuse. Help me to not make excuses, but to seek and find a home Church.
I believe firmly that You will sustain Your Church, but I wonder in what form. Your truths are just that, eternal truths. But once the corrupt evil is driven out of the Church, what will be left. Give me hope and sustain my faith as I search for answers.
Thank You for walking with me and mine. For blessing and protecting us long our journey.

Formed: Empowered by the Spirit

After the Resurrection and Pentecost, the Gospel spread like wildfire. In this "first evangelization," the Apostles were empowered by the Holy Spirit. Today, we must adopt the same strategy in the new evangelization. We must be docile to God’s work within us, allowing him to renew his Church.
