Reading I Isaiah 49:8-15

Thus says the LORD:
In a time of favor I answer you,
 on the day of salvation I help you;
 and I have kept you and given you as a covenant to the people,
To restore the land
 and allot the desolate heritages,
Saying to the prisoners: Come out!
To those in darkness: Show yourselves!
Along the ways they shall find pasture,
 on every bare height shall their pastures be.
They shall not hunger or thirst,
 nor shall the scorching wind or the sun strike them;
For he who pities them leads them
 and guides them beside springs of water.
I will cut a road through all my mountains,
 and make my highways level.
See, some shall come from afar,
 others from the north and the west,
 and some from the land of Syene.
Sing out, O heavens, and rejoice, O earth,
 break forth into song, you mountains.
For the LORD comforts his people
 and shows mercy to his afflicted.

But Zion said, “The LORD has forsaken me;
 my Lord has forgotten me.”
Can a mother forget her infant,
 be without tenderness for the child of her womb?
Even should she forget,
 I will never forget you.

Responsorial Psalm
145:8-9, 13cd-14, 17-18

R. (8a) The Lord is gracious and merciful.

The LORD is gracious and merciful,
 slow to anger and of great kindness.
The LORD is good to all

and compassionate toward all his works.

R. The Lord is gracious and merciful.

The LORD is faithful in all his words
 and holy in all his works.
The LORD lifts up all who are falling

and raises up all who are bowed down.

R. The Lord is gracious and merciful.

The LORD is just in all his ways
 and holy in all his works.
The LORD is near to all who call upon him,

to all who call upon him in truth.

R. The Lord is gracious and merciful.

Gospel John 5:17-30

Jesus answered the Jews:
“My Father is at work until now, so I am at work.”
For this reason they tried all the more to kill him,
because he not only broke the sabbath
but he also called God his own father, making himself equal to God.

Jesus answered and said to them,
“Amen, amen, I say to you, the Son cannot do anything on his own,
but only what he sees the Father doing;
for what he does, the Son will do also.
For the Father loves the Son
and shows him everything that he himself does,
and he will show him greater works than these,
so that you may be amazed.
For just as the Father raises the dead and gives life,
so also does the Son give life to whomever he wishes.
Nor does the Father judge anyone,
but he has given all judgment to the Son,
so that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father.
Whoever does not honor the Son
does not honor the Father who sent him.
Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever hears my word
and believes in the one who sent me
has eternal life and will not come to condemnation,
but has passed from death to life.
Amen, amen, I say to you, the hour is coming and is now here
when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God,
and those who hear will live.
For just as the Father has life in himself,
so also he gave to the Son the possession of life in himself.
And he gave him power to exercise judgment,
because he is the Son of Man.
Do not be amazed at this,
because the hour is coming in which all who are in the tombs
will hear his voice and will come out,
those who have done good deeds
to the resurrection of life,
but those who have done wicked deeds
to the resurrection of condemnation.

“I cannot do anything on my own;
I judge as I hear, and my judgment is just,
because I do not seek my own will
but the will of the one who sent me.”

Formed: He Knows You

Today’s readings remind us of who God is. God, like a shepherd, desires to lead us into green pastures and repose. He has not forgotten us but is seeking us out, offering us his steadfast love, mercy, and forgiveness. Remain with him, confident of his love for you.

Today’s Action Item: Trust that God will remember you despite your merit.

Daily Catholic Wisdom…

Again and again Jesus has to help us recognize anew that God’s power is different, that the Messiah must pass through suffering into glory and must lead others along the same path.
Pope Benedict XVI
from his book Jesus of Nazareth: Holy Week

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
Lord You have taught me that what I see and feel is often the opposite of what You see and feel. For You are constant. Forever merciful and gracious to those that believe and obey. And Your love and perfection is not based on our deeds, but Your love for us. You see what You created us to be. And Your hands are always at work molding and sculpturing us into that creation… when we let You.
Thank You for loving a poor sinner like me. For blessing me beyond measure.
Thank You for walking with me, mine and theirs. For protecting and blessing each of them. For that is my pray. That they too will know what I know and feel Your love by walking in Your presence.
Not my will, but Yours Lord God.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls.
In Jesus name I pray.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Apostles (Nicene) Creed

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.
Amen.

Lords Prayer

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.
Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory be to the Father

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.

O my Jesus

O my Jesus, have mercy on us. Forgive us our sins. Save us from the fires of hell. Take all souls into heaven, especially, those most in need of thy mercy.
Amen.

Salve Regina (Hail Holy Queen)

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, hail, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve: to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this vale of tears. Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus, O merciful, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!
Amen.

Anima Christi

Soul of Christ, make me holy. Body of Christ, save me. Blood of Christ, fill me with love. Water from Christ’s side, wash me. Passion of Christ, strengthen me. Good Jesus, hear me. Within your wounds, hide me. Never let me be parted from you. From the evil enemy, protect me. At the hour of my death, call me. And tell me to come to you. That with your saints I may praise you. Through all eternity.
Amen.

Reading I Ezekiel 47:1-9, 12

The angel brought me, Ezekiel,
back to the entrance of the temple of the LORD,
and I saw water flowing out
from beneath the threshold of the temple toward the east,
for the façade of the temple was toward the east;
the water flowed down from the right side of the temple,
south of the altar.
He led me outside by the north gate,
and around to the outer gate facing the east,
where I saw water trickling from the right side.
Then when he had walked off to the east
with a measuring cord in his hand,
he measured off a thousand cubits
and had me wade through the water,
which was ankle-deep.
He measured off another thousand
and once more had me wade through the water,
which was now knee-deep.
Again he measured off a thousand and had me wade;
the water was up to my waist.
Once more he measured off a thousand,
but there was now a river through which I could not wade;
for the water had risen so high it had become a river
that could not be crossed except by swimming.
He asked me, “Have you seen this, son of man?”
Then he brought me to the bank of the river, where he had me sit.
Along the bank of the river I saw very many trees on both sides.
He said to me,
“This water flows into the eastern district down upon the Arabah,
and empties into the sea, the salt waters, which it makes fresh.
Wherever the river flows,
every sort of living creature that can multiply shall live,
and there shall be abundant fish,
for wherever this water comes the sea shall be made fresh.
Along both banks of the river, fruit trees of every kind shall grow;
their leaves shall not fade, nor their fruit fail.
Every month they shall bear fresh fruit,
for they shall be watered by the flow from the sanctuary.
Their fruit shall serve for food, and their leaves for medicine.”

Gospel John 5:1-16

There was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
Now there is in Jerusalem at the Sheep Gate
a pool called in Hebrew Bethesda, with five porticoes.
In these lay a large number of ill, blind, lame, and crippled.
One man was there who had been ill for thirty-eight years.
When Jesus saw him lying there
and knew that he had been ill for a long time, he said to him,
“Do you want to be well?”
The sick man answered him,
“Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool
when the water is stirred up;
while I am on my way, someone else gets down there before me.”
Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your mat, and walk.”
Immediately the man became well, took up his mat, and walked.

Now that day was a sabbath.
So the Jews said to the man who was cured,
“It is the sabbath, and it is not lawful for you to carry your mat.”
He answered them, “The man who made me well told me,
‘Take up your mat and walk.’“
They asked him,
“Who is the man who told you, ‘Take it up and walk’?”
The man who was healed did not know who it was,
for Jesus had slipped away, since there was a crowd there.
After this Jesus found him in the temple area and said to him,
“Look, you are well; do not sin any more,
so that nothing worse may happen to you.”
The man went and told the Jews
that Jesus was the one who had made him well.
Therefore, the Jews began to persecute Jesus
because he did this on a sabbath.

Formed: His Love Rejected

Though Christ is the new temple, the source of life-giving water, he is met with opposition. As we hear in today’s Gospel, he is betrayed by the very man he heals. In this tragic scene, we get a glimpse of the Cross, the ultimate manifestation of Christ’s sacrificial love.
https://watch.formed.org/videos/lenten-daily-reflections-march-29-2022

Today’s Action Item: Focus on the growing persecution of Christ in these readings.

Daily Catholic Wisdom…

Do not suppose that one who suffers does not pray; he prays, since he offers his sufferings to God, and often far better than one who is racking his brains in solitude and who fancies, if he manages to wring out a few tears, that this is true prayer.
St. Teresa of Avila

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
Lord as I focus my these readings today. And the betrayal and persecution of my Lord Jesus Christ. I can’t help but think of how I have been and can be, like the healed man in today’s Gospel. Betraying my Lord Jesus in so many ways. Negotiating with Him ‘I’ll do this if’ and treating Him with disregard by saying ‘I’ll do it tomorrow Lord’. But then that moment happens, repeating itself with growing intensity. And I fall down at the foot of the Cross. Knowing I put those nails in myself. Forgive me Lord, forgive me, I’m so sorry. I love You!
Yet through His Passion and love, I am forgiven. I am a new person with a heart likened to His.
Thank You for rescuing me. For loving me that much. For blessing me so much with each of mine and theirs. For blessing and protecting them. Using me to let them see the work You are doing in me.
Not my will, but Yours Lord God.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls.
In Jesus name I pray.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Reading I Isaiah 65:17-21

Thus says the LORD:
 Lo, I am about to create new heavens
 and a new earth;
The things of the past shall not be remembered
 or come to mind.
Instead, there shall always be rejoicing and happiness
 in what I create;
For I create Jerusalem to be a joy
 and its people to be a delight;
I will rejoice in Jerusalem
 and exult in my people.
No longer shall the sound of weeping be heard there,
 or the sound of crying;
No longer shall there be in it
 an infant who lives but a few days,
 or an old man who does not round out his full lifetime;
He dies a mere youth who reaches but a hundred years,
 and he who fails of a hundred shall be thought accursed.
They shall live in the houses they build,
 and eat the fruit of the vineyards they plant.

Responsorial Psalm
30:2 and 4, 5-6, 11-12a and 13b

R. (2a) I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me.

I will extol you, O LORD, for you drew me clear

and did not let my enemies rejoice over me.
O LORD, you brought me up from the nether world;

you preserved me from among those going down into the pit.

R. I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me.

Sing praise to the LORD, you his faithful ones,

and give thanks to his holy name.
For his anger lasts but a moment;

a lifetime, his good will.
At nightfall, weeping enters in,

but with the dawn, rejoicing.

R. I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me.

“Hear, O LORD, and have pity on me;
 O LORD, be my helper.”
You changed my mourning into dancing;

O LORD, my God, forever will I give you thanks.

R. I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me.

Gospel John 4:43-54

At that time Jesus left [Samaria] for Galilee.
For Jesus himself testified
that a prophet has no honor in his native place.
When he came into Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him,
since they had seen all he had done in Jerusalem at the feast;
for they themselves had gone to the feast.

Then he returned to Cana in Galilee,
where he had made the water wine.
Now there was a royal official whose son was ill in Capernaum.
When he heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea,
he went to him and asked him to come down
and heal his son, who was near death.
Jesus said to him,
“Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will not believe.”
The royal official said to him,
“Sir, come down before my child dies.”
Jesus said to him, “You may go; your son will live.”
The man believed what Jesus said to him and left.
While the man was on his way back,
his slaves met him and told him that his boy would live.
He asked them when he began to recover.
They told him,
“The fever left him yesterday, about one in the afternoon.”
The father realized that just at that time Jesus had said to him,
“Your son will live,”
and he and his whole household came to believe.
Now this was the second sign Jesus did
when he came to Galilee from Judea.

Formed: Defeat of Death

When Christ heals the official’s son, he foreshadows the Resurrection, the inauguration of the new creation. He shows us the truth of the Psalmist’s words, that God’s power will defeat the brokenness of our scarred world. Indeed, our mourning will be turned into dancing.

Amen.

Reading II 2 Corinthians 5:17-21

Brothers and sisters:
Whoever is in Christ is a new creation:
the old things have passed away;
behold, new things have come.
And all this is from God,
who has reconciled us to himself through Christ
and given us the ministry of reconciliation,
namely, God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ,
not counting their trespasses against them
and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.
So we are ambassadors for Christ,
as if God were appealing through us.
We implore you on behalf of Christ,
be reconciled to God.
For our sake he made him to be sin who did not know sin,
so that we might become the righteousness of God in him.

Gospel Luke 15:1-3, 11-32

Tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to listen to Jesus,
but the Pharisees and scribes began to complain, saying,
“This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”
So to them Jesus addressed this parable:
“A man had two sons, and the younger son said to his father,
‘Father give me the share of your estate that should come to me.’
So the father divided the property between them.
After a few days, the younger son collected all his belongings
and set off to a distant country
where he squandered his inheritance on a life of dissipation.
When he had freely spent everything,
a severe famine struck that country,
and he found himself in dire need.
So he hired himself out to one of the local citizens
who sent him to his farm to tend the swine.
And he longed to eat his fill of the pods on which the swine fed,
but nobody gave him any.
Coming to his senses he thought,
‘How many of my father’s hired workers
have more than enough food to eat,
but here am I, dying from hunger.
I shall get up and go to my father and I shall say to him,
“Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.
I no longer deserve to be called your son;
treat me as you would treat one of your hired workers.”’
So he got up and went back to his father.
While he was still a long way off,
his father caught sight of him, and was filled with compassion.
He ran to his son, embraced him and kissed him.
His son said to him,
‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you;
I no longer deserve to be called your son.’
But his father ordered his servants,
‘Quickly bring the finest robe and put it on him;
put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.
Take the fattened calf and slaughter it.
Then let us celebrate with a feast,
because this son of mine was dead, and has come to life again;
he was lost, and has been found.’
Then the celebration began.
Now the older son had been out in the field
and, on his way back, as he neared the house,
he heard the sound of music and dancing.
He called one of the servants and asked what this might mean.
The servant said to him,
‘Your brother has returned
and your father has slaughtered the fattened calf
because he has him back safe and sound.’
He became angry,
and when he refused to enter the house,
his father came out and pleaded with him.
He said to his father in reply,
‘Look, all these years I served you
and not once did I disobey your orders;
yet you never gave me even a young goat to feast on with my friends.
But when your son returns
who swallowed up your property with prostitutes,
for him you slaughter the fattened calf.’
He said to him,
‘My son, you are here with me always;
everything I have is yours.
But now we must celebrate and rejoice,
because your brother was dead and has come to life again;
he was lost and has been found.’”

Formed: Sons and Daughter

Today’s rich readings all point to the love of God. He not only provided for Israel, but he also become incarnate to reconcile the world to himself. Indeed, through Christ, we have become new creations. We have been reunited with our Father, just as the prodigal son was reunited with his.

Daily Catholic Wisdom…

God doesn’t just forgive us. He doesn’t just restore us to a right relationship with him. He invites us into his very Trinitarian family life. In other words, God doesn’t merely pardon us like a merciful judge. He also adopts us as his children.
Edward Sri
from his book Love Unveiled: The Symbolon Book

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
Yes… being reconciled to You! Thank You Jesus! For me this is how start each day, my daily process. It’s like I can’t move forward unless I know I’m reconciled to You Father. How can I start a new day when my mind and heart are stuck in what I did wrong, or didn’t do right the day before. Its like I can’t get control of my breath. So I come to You, here and now with Jesus, in Your Word. Asking Him to help me understand, forgive and accept His gift. And I breathe.
Thank You for this time together each day.
Not my will, but Yours Lord God.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls.
In Jesus name I pray.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Reading I Hosea 6:1-6

“Come, let us return to the LORD,
it is he who has rent, but he will heal us;
he has struck us, but he will bind our wounds.
He will revive us after two days;
on the third day he will raise us up,
to live in his presence.
Let us know, let us strive to know the LORD;
as certain as the dawn is his coming,
and his judgment shines forth like the light of day!
He will come to us like the rain,
like spring rain that waters the earth.”

What can I do with you, Ephraim?
What can I do with you, Judah?
Your piety is like a morning cloud,
like the dew that early passes away.
For this reason I smote them through the prophets,
I slew them by the words of my mouth;
For it is love that I desire, not sacrifice,
and knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.

Gospel Luke 18:9-14

Jesus addressed this parable
to those who were convinced of their own righteousness
and despised everyone else.
“Two people went up to the temple area to pray;
one was a Pharisee and the other was a tax collector.
The Pharisee took up his position and spoke this prayer to himself,
‘O God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of humanity —
greedy, dishonest, adulterous — or even like this tax collector.
I fast twice a week,
and I pay tithes on my whole income.’
But the tax collector stood off at a distance
and would not even raise his eyes to heaven
but beat his breast and prayed,
‘O God, be merciful to me a sinner.’
I tell you, the latter went home justified, not the former;
for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled,
and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Formed: A Prophetic Challenge

As Dr. Gray reminds us, the Lord wants to speak into our personal lives through the prophets. Today, through Hosea, we are challenged to live out of love. In Lent, this means we ought to perform our penances out of a desire to know the Lord more intimately.

Today’s Action Item: Reflect on how your motivation for your Lenten sacrifices is the love of God.

Daily Catholic Wisdom…

Ultimately, being a Christian is not a matter of feeling, although believing often brings peace and a sense of purpose. Saying Yes to Christ is an answer to a call, a decision to follow a way of life, a commitment to a set of beliefs, founded on a succession of facts and historical events and on the power of Christ’s spirit.
—Cardinal George Pell
from his book Test Everything: Hold Fast to What is Good

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
I do love You beyond measure. I seek to know You more each day. And as I grow closer and realize how You are walking with me, guiding and teaching me. I pray that each of mine and theirs will realize and know this too. For as Cardinal Pell states in his book… Saying Yes to Christ is an answer to a call, a decision to follow a way of life, a commitment to a set of beliefs, founded on a succession of facts and historical events and on the power of Christ’s spirit.
Help us to say ‘yes’ in every moment. Renewing our decision and commitment. Give us a thirst for Your Words.
Thank You for walking with us.
Not our will, but Yours Lord God.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls.
In Jesus name I pray.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Reading I Isaiah 7:10-14; 8:10

The LORD spoke to Ahaz, saying:
Ask for a sign from the Lord, your God;
let it be deep as the nether world, or high as the sky!
But Ahaz answered,
“I will not ask! I will not tempt the LORD!”
Then Isaiah said:
Listen, O house of David!
Is it not enough for you to weary people,
must you also weary my God?
Therefore the Lord himself will give you this sign:
the virgin shall be with child, and bear a son,
and shall name him Emmanuel,
which means “God is with us!”

Responsorial Psalm
40:7-8a, 8b-9, 10, 11

R. (8a and 9a) Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will.

Sacrifice or oblation you wished not,
 but ears open to obedience you gave me.
Holocausts or sin-offerings you sought not;
 then said I, “Behold I come.”

R. Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will.

“In the written scroll it is prescribed for me,
To do your will, O my God, is my delight,
 and your law is within my heart!”

R. Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will.

I announced your justice in the vast assembly;
 I did not restrain my lips, as you, O LORD, know.

R. Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will.

Your justice I kept not hid within my heart;
 your faithfulness and your salvation I have spoken of;
I have made no secret of your kindness and your truth
 in the vast assembly.

R. Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will.

Gospel Luke 1:26-38

The angel Gabriel was sent from God
to a town of Galilee called Nazareth,
to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph,
of the house of David,
and the virgin’s name was Mary.
And coming to her, he said,
“Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you.”
But she was greatly troubled at what was said
and pondered what sort of greeting this might be.
Then the angel said to her,
“Do not be afraid, Mary,
for you have found favor with God.
Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son,
and you shall name him Jesus.
He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High,
and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father,
and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever,
and of his Kingdom there will be no end.”
But Mary said to the angel,
“How can this be,
since I have no relations with a man?”
And the angel said to her in reply,
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you,
and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.
Therefore the child to be born
will be called holy, the Son of God.
And behold, Elizabeth, your relative,
has also conceived a son in her old age,
and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren;
for nothing will be impossible for God.”
Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.
May it be done to me according to your word.”
Then the angel departed from her.

Formed: Fiat Mihi

Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Annunciation, which commemorates Mary’s fiat to God’s saving plan. In her humility, Mary was able to receive the good news from the angel Gabriel and respond in faith to God’s plan for her. Meditate on this great mystery today, seeking to grow in docility to the Lord and his plans for you.

Today’s Action Item: Imitate Mary’s faith and trust.

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
Lord, as I seek to surround myself in all things about Jesus, this time in Your Word, the reflections I listen to after the readings and the praise and worship music I listen to, help me start my one walk with Jesus each day focused on what You are saying to me. Praying for the faith of my Holy Mother to do His will throughout this day. Not my will Lord, but Yours.
Today I’m praying the Rosary and with anticipating the Consecration of Russia, I pray the Hope and Trust Sorrowful Mystery with special emphasis of the Salve Regina (Hail Holy Queen)
I pray that You use this day to awaken and teach us to the Immaculate Heart of our Holy Mother and our Lord Jesus. Speaking to each of us directly. Above and beyond the chaos of the world.
My World Needs You!

Amen.

Reading I Jeremiah 7:23-28

Thus says the LORD:
This is what I commanded my people:
Listen to my voice;
then I will be your God and you shall be my people.
Walk in all the ways that I command you,
so that you may prosper.

But they obeyed not, nor did they pay heed.
They walked in the hardness of their evil hearts
and turned their backs, not their faces, to me.
From the day that your fathers left the land of Egypt even to this day,
I have sent you untiringly all my servants the prophets.
Yet they have not obeyed me nor paid heed;
they have stiffened their necks and done worse than their fathers.
When you speak all these words to them,
they will not listen to you either;
when you call to them, they will not answer you.
Say to them:
This is the nation that does not listen
to the voice of the LORD, its God,
or take correction.
Faithfulness has disappeared;
the word itself is banished from their speech.

Responsorial Psalm
95:1-2, 6-7, 8-9

R. (8) If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

Come, let us sing joyfully to the LORD;
 let us acclaim the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;

let us joyfully sing psalms to him.

R. If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

Come, let us bow down in worship;
 let us kneel before the LORD who made us.
For he is our God,

and we are the people he shepherds, the flock he guides.

R. If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

Oh, that today you would hear his voice:

“Harden not your hearts as at Meribah

as in the day of Massah in the desert,
Where your fathers tempted me;

they tested me though they had seen my works.”

R. If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

Gospel Luke 11:14-23

Jesus was driving out a demon that was mute,
and when the demon had gone out,
the mute man spoke and the crowds were amazed.
Some of them said, “By the power of Beelzebul, the prince of demons,
he drives out demons.”
Others, to test him, asked him for a sign from heaven.
But he knew their thoughts and said to them,
“Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste
and house will fall against house.
And if Satan is divided against himself,
how will his kingdom stand?
For you say that it is by Beelzebul that I drive out demons.
If I, then, drive out demons by Beelzebul,
by whom do your own people drive them out?
Therefore they will be your judges.
But if it is by the finger of God that I drive out demons,
then the Kingdom of God has come upon you.
When a strong man fully armed guards his palace,
his possessions are safe.
But when one stronger than he attacks and overcomes him,
he takes away the armor on which he relied
and distributes the spoils.
Whoever is not with me is against me,
and whoever does not gather with me scatters.”

Formed: Hear, O Israel

God, through the prophet Jeremiah, implores his people to listen to him. Because Israel failed to hear his word, they failed to be obedient to his law. Listen to the Word of God today, allowing it to challenge you to repent and grow in obedience.

Daily Catholic Wisdom…

The Bible tells us to love our neighbors, and also to love our enemies; probably because they are generally the same people.

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
Here I am Lord listening! Seeking to help You gather. Speak to me and mine, guide me and mine, direct me and mine as You wish. For I only desire that me and my house serve You. Praise and worship You. For You are our God, our Heavenly Father and through Jesus Christ our Savior. Holy Spirit lead us.
Thank You for walking with us. Continue to convict us when we wonder and get disconnected from You. For all things are possible in and with You. But without You nothing is possible. Hear my prayer!
Not our will, but Yours Lord God.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls.
In Jesus name I pray.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
