One Walk

Walking on purpose

August 3, 2018

Walking with Jesus…

OneWalk: Under the Sun, with the Son

A thought…
What if? the only what if question that matters to me is… what if I decided to follow my Lord Jesus sooner. But that was then and this is now, He has blessed me beyond measure. I wouldn’t want to change anything except having more faith, hope and love. And causing less hurt and pain.

A verse…

I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.
John 5:30 NKJV

I can do nothing on my own. I judge as God tells me. Therefore, my judgment is just, because I carry out the will of the one who sent me, not my own will.
John 5:30 NLT

Walking with a blank in your eye

August 2, 2018

Walking with Jesus…

OneWalk: Under the Sun, with the Son

A thought…
It’s easy and by far less painful to ignore our sins, or even deny we are sinners. But there are consequences. So take Jesus’s hand and deal with it. The sooner the better.

A verse…

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?”
Matthew 7:3

A devotion …
The Destructiveness of Sin
Today in the Word
https://www.todayintheword.org/issues/2018/08—august/devotions/02/

We are often blind to our own faults. We can also fail to see how those faults affect others, particularly those closest to us.

Our sins can haunt us when we don’t deal with them. Prayerfully reflect on your own life. Are there sins you could be blind to? Ask God to help you see them. If His Spirit reveals any, confess those sins to God and repent.

He has promised to forgive and cleanse you and to remove your sin as far as the east is from the west (Ps. 103:12).

God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

A reading…
Read Joseph’s story in Genesis 37
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis+37&version=NLT

A prayer…
Dear Lord God, Abba Father, Jesus my Savior. Save us from ourselves. Thank You for Your sacrifice of the Cross. For the gift of forgiveness. Now help me remove my sins as far as the east is from the west. Amen

Walking knowing you are beloved

August 1, 2018

Walking with Jesus…

OneWalk: Under the Sun, with the Son

A thought…
You are not what you do.
You are not what you have.
You are not what people say about you.
You are God’s beloved.
This is your only true identity.

From today’s devotion

A verse…

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” 1 John 3:1a (NIV)

A devotion …
You Are Beloved
CrossCard: Encouragement for Today – July 31, 2018

“I’m not what I do.
I’m not what I have.
I’m not what people say about me.
I am the beloved of God.
It’s who I am.
No one can take it from me.
I don’t have to worry.
I don’t have to hurry.
I can trust my friend Jesus and share His love with the world.”

A prayer…
Dear Lord God, Abba Father, Jesus my Savior. Use today’s devotion to touch someone in need or wanting. Help them know in You they’re never alone. Let the feel Your presence. Awaken them to the seed You planted in their heart. Amen

My Walks with Jesus

July 31, 2018

Walking with Jesus…

OneWalk: Under the Sun, with the Son

A thought…

I always feel so much closer to my Lord Jesus Christ after one of my Saturday morning walks. Some how it’s like my body, mind and spirit come together and are focused on one thing, connecting to Him. Whether He’s convicting me, teaching me, or just comforting me. Often all three. I just can’t get enough. As I listen to my audio Bible, or an audio book or worship music. It’s all about Him and I seek to immerse myself in His teachings and love.

My walks with Him are like the quote above says…

Dear Lord,
Forgive what I have been,
Correct what I am,
And direct what I will be.

During the week my mornings start with this one and one time with Him. This time is more mind and spirit, but with the same goal of connecting to Him for the day ahead. My commitment to share these posts and long days at work limit my walks during the week. But I do try to surround myself with Him throughout the day with a sermon, a lecture or worship music.

I just can’t get enough of Jesus! I seek His presence and guidance in everything. #OneWalk

A verse…
Let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
James 1:4

A devotion…
Becoming Entirely His
My Utmost for His Highest
https://utmost.org/becoming-entirely-his/

Not only must our relationship to God be right, but the outward expression of that relationship must also be right. Ultimately, God will allow nothing to escape; every detail of our lives is under His scrutiny. God will bring us back in countless ways to the same point over and over again. And He never tires of bringing us back to that one point until we learn the lesson, because His purpose is to produce the finished product.

A prayer…
Dear Lord God, Abba Father, Jesus my Savior thank You for each and every blessing. I see Your hand and feel Your presence. I love You, I am sorry, forgive me, thank You. Continue Your work in me. Amen

Walking with hope

July 27, 2018

Walking with Jesus…

OneWalk: Under the Sun, with the Son

A thought…
Never give up hope!

A verse…

“I pray that God, the source of all hope, will infuse your lives with an abundance of joy and peace in the midst of your faith so that your hope will overflow through the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 (VOICE)

A devotion …
Hope: The Antidote to the Quitter Instinct CrossCards: Encouragement for Today – July 25, 2018

https://www.crosscards.com/devotionals/encouragement-for-today/encouragement-for-today-july-25-2018.html

God created hope to intertwine with every part of life, which is why holding on to it makes all the difference. Letting go of hope is why we walk out of a hard marriage. It’s why we give up on a wayward child. Hopelessness is what makes us reject challenging friendships and step out of frustrating community groups. Losing hope is why we turn our backs on difficult family members, quit frustrating positions of leadership and let go of a dream that feels too far off. But God didn’t create us to be quitters.

A prayer…
Dear Lord God, Abba Father, Jesus my Savior all my hope is in You. Wherever I go, whatever I do, I do it better when my hope is focused on You and Your will, not mine. You are my inspiration and source of hope. I’ve learned to walk without understanding the way and or knowing the outcome as long as I have hope. Hope that in some way, as small as it maybe, You are using me for Your purpose. And as long as I keep the faith, have hope and love, Your will, will be done. Amen

Walking to purity of heart is a long walk you can’t take alone

July 26, 2018

Walking with Jesus…

OneWalk: Under the Sun, with the Son

A thought…
Purity of heart isn’t possible alone. Only in and with Jesus can we receive His Spirit and begin the process of dying to ourselves.

A verse…

A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare.
Proverbs 15:1 (NLT)

A devotion…
The Way to Purity
My Utmost for His Highest
https://utmost.org/the-way-to-purity/

Initially we trust in our ignorance, calling it innocence, and next we trust our innocence, calling it purity. Then when we hear these strong statements from our Lord, we shrink back, saying, “But I never felt any of those awful things in my heart.” We resent what He reveals. Either Jesus Christ is the supreme authority on the human heart, or He is not worth paying any attention to. Am I prepared to trust the penetration of His Word into my heart, or would I prefer to trust my own “innocent ignorance”?

Purity is something far too deep for me to arrive at naturally. But when the Holy Spirit comes into me, He brings into the center of my personal life the very Spirit that was exhibited in the life of Jesus Christ, namely, the Holy Spirit, which is absolute unblemished purity.

A reading…
Matthew 15
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+15&version=NLT

Jesus teaches about inner purity

Matthew 15:18-20

Those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart….For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man…

A prayer…
Dear Lord God, Abba Father, Jesus my Savior walk with me. Liken my heart to Yours. Tame my tongue. Remove from me any and all anger towards others, no matter what. Even when provoked. Help me die to myself. Amen
