Abba, Father, Lord God, today my mind is filled with hope in Pope Benedicts visit to America; I know You work within each of us in different ways as is Your callings. But I feel Your hand at work in Pope John Paul and Pope Benedict and the Christian Churches; and I think as Solomon proclaimed 'There is an appointed time for everything, and a time for every affair under the heavens'. So I keep my eyes, ears, mind and heart open to You, always seeking, always trying to prepare myself to be a worthy Sheppard for all Your blessings through my faith in You the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit which I know is alive within me, with the hope that You may find me worthy to serve You so that I may make amends for all I did wrong and failed to do right, always with and in unconditional love and humility. Abba, Father, Lord God, thank You for awakening the seed You planted in me at conception and took possession of at baptism never giving up and never abandoning me. For I do believe You planted Your seed in each of us; the need to know and love You, to have a relationship with You. But as Jesus spoke in today's Gospel 'some do not believe'. So blessed am I that You through Your grace and mercy have granted me the awareness to open my heart to Jesus and as St. Vincent states today showing and teaching me how not to rely on my own talents but to seek Your will and Jesus teachings to know, nurture and develop the physical and spiritual gifts that You have given me. So here I am as with every day, starting my day with and in You; asking and praying that You would help me stay in Your presence throughout this day and that You would hear my thoughts and prayers for those I love, know and may try to harm or take advantage of me, And in all things teaching me acceptance through faith, giving me hope through knowledge that Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven, and forgiveness through love. For if You would do all this for me a sinner by nature and forgive me, how can I keep that gift for me when by giving it away I may be blessed to awaken someone to what You have given me. Abba, Father, Lord God, O how my mind is a flutter with this and that, but I try to slow my thought and stop to give thanks and praise to You who through Jesus in the Spirit I do hope to become one by the faith in His Words and love of His gift through His passion. Today's readings fuel my flutter and again lead me to ask about fear and love. For as much as I read how the Prophets feared You through and in Jesus I only see love for in Him I feel no fear. So as in the Psalms 'My soul makes its boast in the You LORD; let the afflicted hear and be glad. O magnify Your presence within me, and let me exalt Your name! I sought You LORD, and You answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. I look to You, and feel radiant; so my face shall never be ashamed. This poor man cried, and the LORD heard me, and saved me out of all my troubles. The angel of the LORD encamps around those who love you, and delivers them. O taste and see that the LORD is good! Abba, Father, Lord God, I try to ask not for things from under the sun but for understanding and acceptance. Not that I have achieved any control and or discipline to the desires of the flesh and selfishness or tamed the pride and anger that has consumed me but because I believe the Words of Jesus and He is 'the the bread of life; he who comes to Him shall not hunger, and he who believes in Him shall never thirst'. So this and only this I seek and ask in prayer each day that You liken me to the image of Jesus and help me hear, act and fulfill Your will for me, always blessing me with the gift of understanding and acceptance in a way that Jesus' presence within me be visible and felt by those You place in my path. So again I say, I try not to test You or ask that You stop the suffering and illnesses under the sun or that You judge and bring an end to the evil that exists, but to keep my mind, body and spirit consummated In Jesus. Blessed am I in this and from this state I my knees I do lift up in prayer the names of those in need of Your healing, comfort, understanding rest and peace. Abba, Father, Lord God, today the words of Timothy and the roots of Saul illustrate the way it still is under the sun to those who think in the ways under the sun; but I am blessed to see Jesus at work and alive. It is as if You called Timothy to prepare Saul for what he would encounter on the road to Damascus. For while Saul was full of hate and fear hiding behind the Law; Timothy was full of love and courage embracing the power of the Holy Spirit through Jesus and the new Law. While I could only pray for the faith, hope and love that filled Timothy, I can feel through Saul, Jesus living and at work in Paul. Knowing He is the bread of life and though the gate is narrow I seek it so that in Jesus and through the Holy Spirit that lives within me I too may hear Your call and act in faith with hope and unconditional love always, able to repeat the words of forgiveness that Jesus and Timothy spoke at the time of their passing from under the sun into Your Kingdom. Only You know what today and tomorrow will bring me, mine is to be ready. In the name of the Father, the Sun, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
