Words of Jesus

Do not marvel that I said to you, `You must be born anew.' The wind blows where it wills, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know whence it comes or whither it goes; so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit."

John 3:7-8

Many people would like to attain union with God but they cannot bear the contradictions he sends them. They hate the sickness which strikes them, or the poverty they suffer, or the insults they receive. Since they cannot be resigned, they never succeed in reaching total union with God.

— St. Alphonsus Liguori

Abba, Father, Lord God, while I die to myself many times each day, I rise in the hope of being born anew. For while there is much I do not know about heaven and earth, I stand most convicted about all I do not know about myself. So I continue to look within, not for answers but for You. For of the things I know, I know that You live within me and I live with the hope that I will find and liken myself to that image of You in Jesus Christ which waits to be brought out in my thoughts, my words, my actions, my prayers and reflected in my walk. I know I stumble and I fall, but much worse is the thought that I chose or knowingly I allowed myself to think, say or do something that I know and or feel shames me in Your eyes and causing me to want to hide. But from this too I know that I will and must rise, never returning to the state where I accepted being separated from You. This I pray in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Words of Jesus

"Sacrifices and offerings thou hast not desired, but a body hast thou prepared for me; in burnt offerings and sin offerings thou hast taken no pleasure. Then I said, `Lo, I have come to do thy will, O God, 'as it is written of me in the roll of the book."

Hebrews 10:5-7

When the Lord knows that good health is necessary for our soul's welfare, He sends it to us; and when we need sickness, He sends that too. Sickness makes us discover who we are.

— St. Theresa of Avila

Abba, Father, Lord God, today once again I feel the power of Your Words. For weeks I fight of sickness to the point of regret and doubt, then I see in Your Words the errors of my ways and once again You convict and remind me that all is according to Your will and that even when I think I seek Your will I do not let Your will be and grow within me. Simply put as I look back I see that I remove myself from the moment with You and try to place myself where I think or feel I should be rather that embrace where You my Lord God have placed me. So today I start in this time with You so that I may be filled with Your Words, the teaching of Jesus, and the presence of the Spirit, so that tonight when lay down to close my eyes I can look back and know I walked every step in Your presence, that moment when all I am and all I do is with and because of You being in that moment with me. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Words of Jesus

Jesus said to him, "Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe."

John 20:29

Here is one of the best means to acquire humility; fix well in mind this maxim: One is as much as he is in the sight of God, and no more.

— St. Francis of Assisi

Abba, Father, Lord God, I have so many questions, yet I try to focus on what I know rather than what I do not. What I know is that I believe in You as my one and only God, I believe in Jesus Christ You Son and my Savior, and I believe in the Holy Spirit. What I do not know is our to overcome my trail of disobedience that lies behind me, the doubt which is I believe the result of that disobedience, and the weakness that my lack of discipline as created within me. So I set myself in Your sight to remind me what I forgot; without You I am nothing and with You I can do anything. Now I just need to put this belief and thought into action. So in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, I open myself to You asking that You help me fulfill Your will and purpose for me under the sun, Amen.

Words of Jesus

Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation.

Mark 16:15

All our religion is but a false religion, and all our virtues are mere illusions and we ourselves are only hypocrites in the sight of God, if we have not that universal charity for everyone – for the good, and for the bad, for the poor and for the rich, and for all those who do us harm as much as those who do us good.

— St. John Vianney

Abba, Father, Lord God, I come to You today unusually impact by my dreams that last few day. As with most things from which spring from my natural being I now look to You for discernment and counsel; for within me there is still weakness of pride and regret from lack of discipline and control. But on these dreams I tried to follow Your call and while I know the words and ways I handled were from my nature, the calling was from You. So as the Palmist cries out, I accept and know You have 'chastened me sorely, but You have not given me over to death. For You will have helped open to me the gates of righteousness, that I may enter through them and give thanks to You my Lord God.' So I set out to build on that righteousness in the spirit and let go of the nature that only holds me back, with Jesus as my teacher. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Words of Jesus

Jesus said to them, "Children, have you any fish?" They answered him, "No." He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some."

John 21:5=6

"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."

Matthew 6:19-21

You tell me you do not have the time to give two or three hours to prayer; who asks you to do so? No one can be excused from ejaculations because it can be made while coming and going about one's business. Recommend yourself to God the first thing in the morning, protest that you do not wish to offend Him, and then go about your affairs, resolved, nevertheless, to raise your spirit to God, even amidst company.

— St. Francis de Sales

Abba, Father, Lord God, today I look to my Lord Jesus for strength and obedience for I know that an obedient spirit is a strong one, and just as sin separates, obedience units me with You. So I set out this day having spent this time with You, and now I ask Your hand be with me to push, pull, comfort or convict me as I go about this day seeking to honor You and to rise above the busyness and hurries under the sun to stay connected to You. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Words of Jesus

And he said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do questionings rise in your hearts? See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself; handle me, and see; for a spirit has not flesh and bones as you see that I have." And while they still disbelieved for joy, and wondered, he said to them, "Have you anything here to eat?" They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate before them. Then he said to them, "These are my words which I spoke to you, while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled." Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, and said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.

Luke 24:38-48

A Christian has a union with Jesus Christ nobler, more intimate and more perfect than the members of a human body have with their head.

— St. John Eudes

Abba, Father, Lord God, as most everyday again I wake and pray, 'our Father who art in heaven, hollowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done. On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who have trespassed against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil'. Then I begin doing things and being under the sun, most every day I stop offer these prayers to You and read the Bible Readings for today's Mass. But there are day's like yesterday that I do not; whether because I am not able to or just do not, thinking or rationalizing that I do not want to be rushed with You. And then as most days like today I have and take the time. Now there are days in both scenarios that immediately as I resume doing and being I start to disconnect from You, but rarely on those days like yesterday that I feel I stay in Your presence and connected. On these days I see You in everything and Your name even comes up as I do and be. So I say, why? How do I surround myself or place myself with and in, people and circumstances seek what I seek; to be in Your presence all day, every day? So now I ask You Lord God, Abba, Father, help me. Help me find the way to be with You and prosper under the sun. In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit I ask and pray for You to hear me, place me and that Thy will be done. On earth as it is in heaven. Give me this day our daily bread and forgive me my trespasses as I forgive those who have trespassed against me. Lead me not into temptation, but deliver me from evil', Amen.

Words of Jesus

And he said to them, "O foolish men, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?"

Luke 24:25-26

It is blasphemy if you pray before God while you are full of anger.

— St. Ephraem the Syrian

Abba, Father, Lord God, thank You for this day, for hearing me and making it a day of hope; hope not in myself but because I know You are guiding me and I feel in the moment with You. So again I give thanks to You LORD, I call on Your name, make known Your deeds among those You place in my path. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit I give thanks and praise, Amen.
