My Daily Prayers and Readings for 01/23/2010

< >< My Daily Prayer >< >

Abba Father, through Jesus Christ, in the Holy Spirit, as one Lord God the Abba Father, the Christ Son and the Holy Spirit I have learn to come to You, to know and understand You and myself. I have been awakened and set me free from myself and the hand of others walking under the sun, rather than living in and with the Son. It is not easy to change, to die to oneself over and over to purge and purity the misguided ways we adopted to identify ourselves by and developed to hide behind. Always failing to hear or worse ignoring Your calling.

But in Jesus we have a Shepherd who will seek and find us when we are lost; He makes sure each of us is accounted for even though there is much we do not understand that happens under the sun. And once we have heard His voice ‘calling’ we can never be the same. It can only become a matter of how much of what You intended us to be will we be.

Not as Jesus warns us by trying to put a new patch on an old garment or by pouring new wine into in an old jar, but by becoming who we are, spiritual beings visiting a physical world. Learning to teach our bodies and physical characteristics in the ways of the spirit and by constantly cleaning our hearts and renewing a right spirit for One Walk through Him in all things with You in and by the Spirit.

But as Jesus teaches us by letting His strengthen and power  show themselves most effective in our weakness, and learning how to let our weakness and woundedness be openings through which His Light and work in us and our knowledge of Your Glory shines forth.

Here I am Lord God, listening – help me to be what You want me to be always in line with Your will.

In Jesus name I ask and pray, that You bless me and mine for fulfillment of Your will and that You create in me a clean heart, renew a right spirit within me, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

January – For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

Today – IT’S ALL RIGHT TO BE HUMAN. When your mind wanders while you are praying, don’t be surprised or upset. Simply return your attention to Me. Share a secret smile with Me, knowing that I understand. Rejoice in My Love for you, which has no limits or conditions. Whisper My Name in loving contentment, assured that I will never leave you or forsake you. Intersperse these peaceful interludes abundantly throughout your day. This practice will enable you to attain a quiet and gentle spirit, which is pleasing to Me.

As you live in close contact with Me, the Light of My Presence filters through you to bless others. Your weakness and woundedness are the openings through which the Light of the knowledge of My Glory shines forth. My strength and power show themselves most effective in your weakness.

Reading I
2 Sm 1:1-4, 11-12, 19, 23-27
David returned from his defeat of the Amalekites
and spent two days in Ziklag.
On the third day a man came from Saul’s camp,
with his clothes torn and dirt on his head.
Going to David, he fell to the ground in homage.
David asked him, “Where do you come from?”
He replied, “I have escaped from the camp of the children of Israel.”
“Tell me what happened,” David bade him.
He answered that many of the soldiers had fled the battle
and that many of them had fallen and were dead,
among them Saul and his son Jonathan.

David seized his garments and rent them,
and all the men who were with him did likewise.
They mourned and wept and fasted until evening
for Saul and his son Jonathan,
and for the soldiers of the LORD of the clans of Israel,
because they had fallen by the sword.

“Alas! the glory of Israel, Saul,
slain upon your heights;
how can the warriors have fallen!

“Saul and Jonathan, beloved and cherished,
separated neither in life nor in death,
swifter than eagles, stronger than lions!
Women of Israel, weep over Saul,
who clothed you in scarlet and in finery,
who decked your attire with ornaments of gold.

“How can the warriors have fallen–
in the thick of the battle,
slain upon your heights!

“I grieve for you, Jonathan my brother!
most dear have you been to me;
more precious have I held love for you than love for women.

“How can the warriors have fallen,
the weapons of war have perished!”

Responsorial Psalm
80:2-3, 5-7
R.  (4b)      Let us see your face, Lord, and we shall be saved.
O shepherd of Israel, hearken,
O guide of the flock of Joseph!
From your throne upon the cherubim, shine forth
before Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh.
Rouse your power,
and come to save us.
R.        Let us see your face, Lord, and we shall be saved.
O LORD of hosts, how long will you burn with anger
while your people pray?
You have fed them with the bread of tears
and given them tears to drink in ample measure.
You have left us to be fought over by our neighbors,
and our enemies mock us.
R.        Let us see your face, Lord, and we shall be saved.
Gospel
Mk 3:20-21
Jesus came with his disciples into the house.
Again the crowd gathered,
making it impossible for them even to eat.
When his relatives heard of this they set out to seize him,

for they said, “He is out of his mind.”

Some false and pernicious ideas on immodest dress prevail in the world and lead into error souls desirous to do right. Remember, therefore, it matters not how many others sin, yours can never be justified before God, and where it is fashionable to sin it is likewise the fashion to go to hell. The choice is always yours to make. — St. John Chrysostom
