Faith. It is a pity to see how frequently many Christians have it on their lips and yet how sparingly they put it into their actions. You would think it a virtue to be preached only, and not one to be practiced.

Words of Jesus

"I can do nothing on my own authority; as I hear, I judge; and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me. If I bear witness to myself, my testimony is not true; there is another who bears witness to me, and I know that the testimony which he bears to me is true. You sent to John, and he has borne witness to the truth. Not that the testimony which I receive is from man; but I say this that you may be saved. He was a burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light. But the testimony which I have is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father has granted me to accomplish, these very works which I am doing, bear me witness that the Father has sent me. And the Father who sent me has himself borne witness to me. His voice you have never heard, his form you have never seen; and you do not have his word abiding in you, for you do not believe him whom he has sent. You search the scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness to me; yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life. I do not receive glory from men. But I know that you have not the love of God within you. I have come in my Father's name, and you do not receive me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive. How can you believe, who receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the only God? Do not think that I shall accuse you to the Father; it is Moses who accuses you, on whom you set your hope. If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote of me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?"

John 5:30-47

— St. Josemaria Escriva

Abba, Father, Lord God, I believe and yet fight off doubt. I say I know, but yet I do not always do. This is the challenge of my walk under the sun; to believe through faith, to use the hope that faith produces to fight off doubt, and to use love not fear to do, do Your will, by seeking Your will. For if I can grow in faith, my hope will grow and if I walk in love, I will have what I need to reflect that which I seek, the image of Jesus Christ who lives through the Holy Spirit within me. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Words of Jesus

Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know, and bear witness to what we have seen; but you do not receive our testimony. If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things?

John 3:11-12

When it's God Who is speaking … the proper way to behave is to imitate someone who has an irresistible curiosity and who listens at keyholes. You must listen to everything God says at the keyhole of your heart.

— St. John Vianney

Abba, Father, Lord God, I look back at yesterday with some confusion; for I feel interaction with You was real, yet I see that it is only know that I write You in pray as I journal my time with You. Can it be that without though I experienced what I have been asking? Is it that in my shame, You comforted me? Once again I try to limit my questions of You and not asked why, but instead seek how? How can I spend each day this way? How can I capture this experience each day? Is it as simple as accepting I am weak and cannot stop or start own my own? I must be in You and keep You in me. Is it there something I must do; or do I just let it happen. Or is this just to fruit of having surrounded and submersed myself in You and Your word? O Abba, Father, do I fear You or fear letting You down. The consequences are clear, but dark. I want to be all You want me to be in Jesus Christ and seek to please You not fear You; to accept the light, knowing I will stumble and fall, make bad choices and do bad things. But always with You in my heart, always seeking Your forgiveness and always asking Your help and seeking Jesus' image above all. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, I pray, Amen.
