Reading 1 Galatians 4:22-24, 26-27, 31–5:1

Brothers and sisters:
It is written that Abraham had two sons,
one by the slave woman and the other by the freeborn woman.
The son of the slave woman was born naturally,
the son of the freeborn through a promise.
Now this is an allegory.
These women represent two covenants.
One was from Mount Sinai, bearing children for slavery;
this is Hagar.
But the Jerusalem above is freeborn, and she is our mother.
For it is written:
Rejoice, you barren one who bore no children;
break forth and shout, you who were not in labor;
for more numerous are the children of the deserted one
than of her who has a husband.
Therefore, brothers and sisters,
we are children not of the slave woman
but of the freeborn woman.
For freedom Christ set us free; so stand firm
and do not submit again to the yoke of slavery.

Gospel Luke 11:29-32

While still more people gathered in the crowd, Jesus said to them,
“This generation is an evil generation;

Formed: Faith and Repentance

At times we are tempted to search for signs of God instead of meeting God himself. In today’s Gospel, Jesus warns against seeking signs and asks us to have faith. However, to have faith we must first repent. May we have the grace to repent, trust in the Lord’s goodness, and receive the gift of faith.

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
In today’s Gospel Jesus is direct and to the point… repent and believe. Humble yourself before the Lord your God. So I come to each morning to repent and confess my sinful selfish ways. And start again. Renewed in Your promises, with eyes of faith. And a hopeful heart. Closer to You through Your Words, that nourish my the Spirit within me. Hear me Lord. Forgive me, I love You.
Continue to walk with me and mine. Teaching and guiding us. Blessing and protecting us.
Not my will, but Yours Lord God.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls.
In Jesus name I pray.

How often are we blessed by the Lord and do not thank him? In today’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us of the importance of gratitude. Formed: Hearing and Obeying the Word of God

Every Saturday the Church thinks of Our Lady as the “model disciple.” But why is Mary blessed among women? In today’s Gospel, Jesus clarifies that Mary’s holiness is rooted in her ability to hear the word of God and obey it. He calls us to be like Mary, and to follow her on this path to blessing.

Reading 1 Galatians 3:7-14

Brothers and sisters:
Realize that it is those who have faith
who are children of Abraham.
Scripture, which saw in advance that God
would justify the Gentiles by faith,
foretold the good news to Abraham, saying,
Through you shall all the nations be blessed.
Consequently, those who have faith are blessed
along with Abraham who had faith.
For all who depend on works of the law are under a curse;
for it is written, Cursed be everyone
who does not persevere in doing all the things
written in the book of the law.
And that no one is justified before God by the law is clear,
for the one who is righteous by faith will live.

Formed: Why the Absence of Evil Is Not Enough

In today’s reading, Jesus reveals that keeping evil and sin out of our hearts is not enough. We are called to fill the space left behind by our sin with the presence of the Holy Spirit. On this Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, we can invite Our Lady and the Holy Spirit into our hearts to strengthen us against the temptation to fall back into sin.

Prayer is about coming to unity with God and drawing closer to his heart. In today’s Gospel, the disciples ask Jesus to teach them how to pray. Jesus responds with the Lord’s Prayer, showing us that we are called to speak to God as Father to orientate ourselves toward the mystery of who he is.

Reading 1 Galatians 1:13-24

Brothers and sisters:
You heard of my former way of life in Judaism,
how I persecuted the Church of God beyond measure
and tried to destroy it, 
and progressed in Judaism
beyond many of my contemporaries among my race,
since I was even more a zealot for my ancestral traditions.
But when he, who from my mother’s womb had set me apart
and called me through his grace,
was pleased to reveal his Son to me,
so that I might proclaim him to the Gentiles,
I did not immediately consult flesh and blood,
nor did I go up to Jerusalem
to those who were Apostles before me;
rather, I went into Arabia and then returned to Damascus.
Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to confer with Cephas
and remained with him for fifteen days.
But I did not see any other of the Apostles,
only James the brother of the Lord.
(As to what I am writing to you, behold,
before God, I am not lying.)
Then I went into the regions of Syria and Cilicia.
And I was unknown personally to the churches of Judea
that are in Christ;
they only kept hearing that “the one who once was persecuting us
is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.”
So they glorified God because of me.

Formed: Peace In Activity

Today we hear the story of Martha, Mary, and Lazarus and the teaching of the one thing necessary. Even when called into the active life, we must sit at the feet of Christ throughout the day so that we may receive his peace as we go about our labors.

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
One of my favorite Gospel readings today Lord. Thank You. The ‘one thing necessary’ at the feet of Jesus. Blessed are we when we learn this lesson and are able to practice it in the day to day busyness of each day. This is truly one walk with Jesus. Help me and mine learn and practice this lesson.

Continue to walk with us, feeling Your presence and walking at peace. Blessing and protecting us. Guiding and teaching us.
