The words of Jeremiah, son of Hilkiah,
of a priestly family in Anathoth, in the land of Benjamin.

The word of the LORD came to me thus:

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I dedicated you,
a prophet to the nations I appointed you.
“Ah, Lord GOD!” I said,
"I know not how to speak; I am too young.”

But the LORD answered me,
Say not, “I am too young.”
To whomever I send you, you shall go;
whatever I command you, you shall speak.
Have no fear before them,
because I am with you to deliver you, says the LORD.

Formed: Docile to the Word

The image of sowing seeds invites us consider whether the word of God is taking root in us or not. Are we following what we heard in Mass or prayer? Do we trust that the Lord will give us the grace to accomplish what he calls us to? Today, let’s resolve to be fertile soil for God.

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
Let me hear Your Words.

Lord I know You walk with me and mine. Keep us aware of Your presence and in Your Word. Continue to show and teach us how to live out Your Words in a daily walk with You. Bless and protect us. Help us be lights for those in darkness.

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
Who is like You Lord. Your mercy endures forever. Forgive again now, in this time. These times that seem to repeat themselves throughout history. As history repeats itself. But You are our God. And all things are in Your power. So set the souls of believers everywhere on fire for Your truths. Give us the courage and strength to stand up and let the revival begin.
For I know You walk with me and mine. Teaching and guiding us. Blessing and protecting us. So fill us now with a passion for Your Word, and the wisdom of the Spirit to know the good Shepherds from the false. We need You now Lord.

Show us Your mercy and love.

Today, the prophet Micah gives us a beautiful reminder of our calling: We must embody the love God shows us—his hesed—and we must walk humbly alongside him. In other words, we must love our neighbors, and we must love God.

"Sir, if I may ask you this favor,
please do not go on past your servant.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus gently rebukes Martha. Though motivated by a good desire, Martha prioritized secondary tasks over her Lord. Drawing from this scene, St. Thérèse reminds us that meditating on Christ and his actions are the one thing necessary for our souls.

So the sun came back the ten steps it had advanced.

He said to the them, “Have you not read what David did
when he and his companions were hungry,
how he went into the house of God and ate the bread of offering,
which neither he nor his companions
but only the priests could lawfully eat?
Or have you not read in the law that on the sabbath
the priests serving in the temple violate the sabbath
and are innocent?
I say to you, something greater than the temple is here.
If you knew what this meant, I desire mercy, not sacrifice,
you would not have condemned these innocent men.
For the Son of Man is Lord of the sabbath.”

Formed: He Hears, He Sees

In Isaiah 38, God tells Hezekiah that he has heard his prayers and seen his tears. In other words, God knows and loves Hezekiah, just as he knows and loves you. In response, let’s pray in thanksgiving. Let’s praise the Lord for his attention and gifts, especially the gift of life.

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
Thank You Jesus for rescuing me, and setting me free. For walking with me and mine. Hold us close… through sickness, through busyness and through trials. Keep our ears open and tuned to Your voice. Let us never forget You hear and see everything. And we can never hide from You. Continue to bless and protect us. Guide and direct our steps.
